@zen-the-lokean
Loki's hall in Asgard is decorated like this:
zen the lokean turned 5 today!
Ya'll know I'm fucking right.
Absotootly! Bast? Bast I have to be super formal towards. Loki? Nearly anything goes with Loki, and they don’t seem to like formal much at all - at least in working w me.
who cares that terfs don’t like trans people my god loki is out here being a genderfluid icon smiting His enemies with epic poetry rap battles what more could you want
Bless the hated is becoming my motto really and I love it..!
Loki’s motto, honestly.
This has been my entire life. I’m wondering if this is true for other Lokeans?
I had a friend put it really well:
Loki is not a “god who breaks you down and builds you back up.”
Rather, Loki is a god who can help you identify the internalized beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve you, and help you move past them.
Saying “Loki will break you” gives the impression that working with him is inherently difficult and that he will most certainly put you in a compromised position, which is not only wildly incorrect but also incredibly unhealthy.
We need to rephrase how we describe Loki’s methods to something more positive and accurate to how he functions, otherwise newcomers are going to keep being terrified into thinking this god will wreck them.
I truly believe we are doing both Loki and ourselves a great disservice here.
I think that this is a very good point, though - at least in my own experience - when one refuses or ignores changing that which no longer serves them, Loki can sometimes become almost Saturn-like...like a parent leading a willful child by the hand into something for their own good, but these circumstances are actually the less painful option of changing vs stagnation. ...they just don’t feel like it at the beginning.
In my years working with them, it hasn’t often happened. Loki has seemed more likely to just keep repeating themself rather than to force anything, and gets very upset when I’ve erroneously thought they’d caused something [which I did because of what I’ve heard of ‘Loki will break you’ ... it actually quite damaged our relationship, and so a change is definitely needed as it’s not a fair thing to say about Loki and there’s no good reason for such a sweet and loving deity to be hurt by something that is so often not true about them]. I *will* say that Loki has often said ‘told you so’ when I haven’t listened and everything has gone to shit. ...but not in a malicious way.
Reblog far and wide.
Loki just dropped the clearest and wisest bomb on me when I was about to sleep
"when the world tells you to kneel, you stand. When it tells you to bow, you stand. When you can no longer fight, drop your heavy sword, but stand. When you know you won't win, you still get up and stand. And when you fall, which you will, I will catch you and hold you up. But never stop standing"
Felt like painting this little bastard. I’ve been drawing him each winter for five years now and it’s fun to see how he changes with me. I’m so elated about the progress I’m making! This is probably the last thing I will paint in 2018. Here’s to 2019 :)
What a gorgeous portrait! You’re so talented, thanks for sharing this!!

I want that Poleaxe Pan sticker SO BAD
The thing that abled people who advocate for the disabled community don’t get is that there are times when disabilities/accommodations clash. Horribly.
Like I spent years having to come up with a solution to get therapy dogs into a series of residence halls. Why years? Because we had to decide who got to stay and who got to leave: the people who needed therapy dogs or the people with severe allergies to animals. Who got the alternative housing?
Things like fidget toys might seem great for some disabled people but having them in the room could be distracting/overstimulating for others. The same goes with stimming. It can’t be helped but neither can the anxiety that another person in the room feels as they watch/hear it. Additionally, something like a weighted blanket might immediately calm one kid down and send the other one into a panic attack due to the claustrophobia it causes. (*Points to myself*)
Every Metro bus in New York City has a series of seats at the front that can be lifted up to accommodate people in wheelchairs but if I’m in one of those spots then someone with a cane/walker has to journey even further to sit down.
The flashing lights of a fire alarm are there to help deaf/hearing impaired but if they’re not properly timed, they can also cause a person to have a seizure.
The worst part about all of these is that there is rarely a concrete solution that makes everyone happy/safe. And I’m not here to offer any because I don’t know them. I’m just here to remind you all that as you’re taking your education/health classes, as you’re reading your textbooks, as you’re preparing to go be an advocate, just remember that there is rarely ever such a thing as a one-size-fits-all solution to advocacy and that something you do that can help one disabled person might actually hinder another.
Food for thought.
I have heard this referred to by some in the disability advocacy profession as “duelling disabilities” and it’s definitely something I wish people would be more mindful of when discussing accessibility.
If you are in public school and took part in one of the National Walk Outs today, I just want to say that I am so proud of you for taking a stand and I support you with every fiber in my being.
This is something I’ve been working on: dry erase pronoun pins. I’ve seen a lot of super-cool enamel pins with pronouns on them, but as someone who prefers different pronouns in different situations or on different days, those all seemed too permanent for me. So I came up with the idea to create something similar that could be tweaked and changed indefinitely. All you need is a dry erase pen.
I’ll be opening pre-orders for these soon (they’ll be $5), so let me know if you’re interested and I’ll make sure to send you a message when that goes live. Otherwise, feel free to signal boost.
my patch from one of my favourite artists arrived today - thanks as always @musterni-illustrates 🖤
