Prompt: Imagine, during the change of seasons, Person A starts to suffer from frequent and violent sneezing fits. Person B offers to get them some allergy medication, but Person A stubbornly insists that they don’t have allergies – it’s just a sneezy day/week/month for them.
A/N: So yeah I just wanted to write, so here’s a little something! :)
It is when Zendaya is trying to get her bit of sleep in and it happens, that she decides that she has had enough.
“Fucking hell Val!” she exclaims as she shoots up from the bed, hair a wild mess and expression startled.
Val looks up at her sheepishly and goes to grab a tissue out the the tissue box that his girlfriend has laid on the dresser right next to the bed for him. She glares at him and begins to lecture on how he should've just had taken the allergy medicine.
“I’m fine babe…” Val groans as Zendaya rushes around his LA apartment to his small kitchen to get the allergy medicine. Val’s sneezes were going to be the death of her. When he sneezed, his whole body would shake, his cheeks turned bright red, and his eyes would water to the point where it would look like he was crying.
But the sound was the worst.
It sounded like a fucking canon going off. The shriek is what had scared her out of her sleep. It’s what scared her every time. When he was about to sneeze, there was no noise. Just complete silence and then BAM! She had been telling Val for the last month to just take his allergy medicine but he was positive that he did not have allergies. That he was fine.
It started one day after Zendaya had picked Val up from a dress rehearsal and they sat, stuck in the LA traffic, just in a comfortable silence. The light had just turned green right as Val let out the most dramatic sound ever, his sneeze.
Now she had heard him sneeze before but not like this. This sneeze was powerful. The kind of sneeze that made his body jolt when he did it and you were able to visibly see his relief through his overall presence.
Zendaya could have wrecked the car but she was able to focus enough even though her heart was racing. Val noticed her startled expression before quickly muttering an apology, laughing a bit at his girlfriend’s reaction.
A week passed when it happened again. She was in New York, shooting a new show when she finally got a break. She had decided to face time Val while retouching her makeup.
The phone did not ring for long as Val answered right away and immediately smiled, make her smile right back at him.
“Hey babe!” He shouted through the little screen, looking tired as ever. The time zones sucked and she could tell that he was already in bed.
“Did I wake you up? I’m sorry...” she apologized, genuinely apologizing as she grabbed her makeup pouch and began to reapply. She could hear him shuffle around a little bit and heard him turn the TV on, the volume low but she could still tell that he was watching Martin. Oh how she wish she could be there with him.
They began to converse and it was when she was applying eyeliner that he did it. He sneezed and it scared her to the point where she messed up her eyeliner. He nose flared but she couldn’t be mad at him. He can’t control he sneezes. When she looked back at the camera, she gave him a concerned look.
“Don’t mind my eyeliner, but babe, you might wanna take some allergy medicine or something. Your sneeze is a killer.”
He laughed in response, waving her off and saying, “I do not have allergies, I promise. I do not need any medicine.”
Zendaya just rolls her eyes and reaches for the makeup remover, but not before ending the conversation with her boyfriend. She could not risk his sneezes messing up her makeup routine again.
This goes on for weeks and turns into a month. He begins to sneeze more, while she’s cooking, brushing her teeth, on the phone, etc. Each time he denies that he has allergies and she just rolls her eyes at the stubborn man when he refuses to take the allergy pill.
As she quickly got a glass and filled it with water, then getting the pill that would cure Val’s seasonal allergies, Zendaya hurries to the bedroom to chuck it in Val’s arms, only to find him asleep. Most likely pretending so that he would not have to take the nasty pill.
She stared at him for a few moments, taking in his appearance. His nose was bright red and he had calmed down from the sneeze, looking as relaxed as ever. His hair in a curly mess and mouth slightly open as he began to snore.
Yep, he definitely fell asleep.
She sighed, giving in and putting the glass, along with the pill down on the dresser before hopping back in bed, facing her stubborn boyfriend.
“You got lucky this time.”
The next morning on her way out to an early photo shoot, she stops by the bedroom one more time to see her heavy sleeper of a boyfriend. He’s passed out and luckily did not wake her up anymore with his horrifying sneezes.
She should wake him up and make him take the pill. But she knows him. He’ll be grumpy and that is not something she has time to deal with as she is already late to the photo shoot.
She huffs and gives him a goodbye kiss on the forehead, knowing he needs his sleep before he goes to practice with Laurie at noon.
The thought then comes to mind.
Laurie.
She grabs the medicine package out of the kitchen and hurries to sneak it into his gym bag before sending a quick text to Laurie.
Z: “Hey girl! Make sure Val takes his allergy medicine. The fall is kicking his ass and he refuses to admit it. I hid them in his gym bag. Thanks Laur! See you soon <3”
Laurie responds almost immediately and Zendaya is so thankful for the little ball of sunshine.
L: “Will do Z! And come by practice sometime, he gets cranky around 4!!”
Z: “Chick-fil-A?”
L: “You know it! *I’ll be waiting for my lemonade!! ;)”
I’m still so pressed him and Z were robbed. When he wins with partners that are great, but IMO not as great as Z, I just ughhhhhhh. I hate this damn show.
fandom is so weird you never know how old anyone is but you just kinda assume most of them are around your age until proven otherwise and then one day someone is talking about their 9 year old kid on your dash and another person is saying they just finished 10th grade. wild.
“Are you at the rehearsal space yet?” Zendaya asked when she heard a change in background noise consisting of clinking keys and chattering voices.
“Yeah, I’m just walking through the door now.”
“Oh, facetime me.”
“Is that Zendaya?” a voice startled Val, as he looked up from his bag that he was going through with the hand that wasn’t holding his phone to his ear, finding Laurie sitting on the floor stretching.
He laughed. Of course she knew who he was talking to; he talked to her everyday. “It is.” He pulled the phone from his ear, saying, “Hang on, Z,” before proceeding to do what she asked him without questioning her. “And we meet again,” he said, smiling as her face lit up his screen. He held his arm out so Zendaya could get a better view of himself and Laurie.
“Hi, Z!” Laurie waved animatedly from the background, her smile bright and contagious. “Wait…can I call you Z?”
Zendaya giggled at the almost nervous look on Laurie’s face. “Of course you can, sweetie.”
Laurie clamped her hands together, her shoulders hunching in excitement in her normal fashion. “Cool!”
Val glanced back at Laurie then at Z again, unable to hide the joy he felt in seeing the woman he’d loved for the past three years of his life so willingly accept someone who was becoming a little sister to him.
“Well, I’m gonna let you get to work so I can see y’all kill it in person on Monday. I love you!”
He smiled. “We can’t wait to see you there. I love you, too.” And before he hung up, “Wait, why’d you want me to facetime you?”
