DeanCas Graphics Challenge | ZephyrChrysalis ↳ Prompt: Nature, Ocean

My inspiration for this graphic was the way Dean and Cas, or how I imagine they feel about each other when all is said and done.  They have become the safe place for each other.

The text is actually a piece of a song lyric from I Know How the River Feels, written by Steven Dale Jones and Amy Powers.  Copywrite is held by Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC. 

I have my housemate to thank for pointing me to the lyric as sung by the group Diamond Rio.

DeanCas Graphics Challenge | ZephyrChrysalis ↳ Prompt: Season 9 

To me this season was, at it’s core, about the desperation of Dean and Cas to have the means to fight the battle to open Heaven and close Hell.  They are both warriors. They are both trying to color outside the lines drawn for them by their fathers.  And their desperation leads both to making decisions they, most likely, would not have made and that have far reaching consequences.  There are so many examples of these acts.  Cas stole Theo’s grace so he would be able to fight.  Dean took the Mark of Cain to defeat Abbadon.  During the season while Dean and Cas were not fighting together most of the time, they were fighting the same fight.  This desperation is evident in the very first episode, when Dean does what ever he has to do to insure that Sam will live and a few episodes later when he refuses safe harbor to Castiel.

The second theme for me was that of sacrifice.  These men are warriors and they were willing to risk everything they could to fight the good fight and keep humanity safe. Third, it’s about choice.  It’s choosing to do what you need to do. It’s about making the unpopular choice to stand my what you believe is true and what you know is true.  And lastly, it’s about family.  And Dean and Cas and Sam are family.  And, as Dean’s said, “you never give up of family.  Ever.”

It was difficult to try to capture Season 9.  Dean and Cas spent so much time apart.  This was my first DCGC.  I hope you like what I’ve done.

It forced me to re-watch most of Season 9 and while I was frustrated, I also had a lot of fun.

for the third year in a row, we are back!!

with the season 12 finale of supernatural airing on may 18th, we only have a few more days until the months-long wait for new material begins. and so, once again, spn hiatus creations is here to help everyone look forward to season 13 (!!) while taking a look back at previous seasons.

at first you may think this is just another challenge - but it’s not! each week until the season 13 premiere, we will feature a different prompt focusing on characters, relationships, episodes, and other themes from the previous twelve seasons. you can participate in the themed prompt for that week in many different ways: maybe you’ll want to make gifs or edits or graphics or fanart or write ficlets or put together a playlist…really anything goes! you can also participate for as many or as few weeks as you’d like. it’s all up to you!
