“Sadly vacancies always end too soon!! 😡 Passing from diving into the Maldive’s waters to training with the national team is not something easy to do…but here we never give up!! It’s time to put away the mask and come back to my sport, to my real passion! Ready and charged for #VesuvioCup! 💪💪 “
Here’s the interview Simone did for Radio Dolomiti this morning. Under the cut you can find the translation in english. Enjoy!

Giannelli’s interview for Supervolley
I’ve translated the latest interview that Simone Giannelli made for Supervolley, a monthly magazine about volleyball in Italy. It was probably one of the best interview Simone has ever did, where he talks in details about a lot of things. Hope you’ll enjoy it (the interview is under the cut).

Franz: “We are waiting to catch a fly here in Frankfurt, and in the meantime they are playing cards. Simo can you explain to us what are you playing?”
Simone: “Munchkin.”
Franz: “Okay and now that i know how it is called, how you play?
Simone: “Ah but Simo me, not Simo him (Van De Voorde).”
Max: “Everyone invents his own rules..”
Simone: “Basically there are these cards…”
Tine: “Oh beautiful, where are we now?”
Franz: “Facebook live.”
Simone: “So, these are the cards…”
(Simone shows his cards to the camera but also to Simon on his right)
Simon: “Oh fantastic! In this way i can see Simone’s cards!”
Simone: “There is the description of the cards on them..”
Tine: “We can make a tournament…”
Franz: “Let Simone talk, he was particular into it.”
Simone: “No, now i’m not going to explain it anymore.”
Tine: “(ironically) Oh sorry, i have interrupted the prince, here.”
Simone: “(ironically) Now, i’m irritated.”

Simone: “It’s half an hour that i’m trying to do an instagram story but i’m not able to do it, so take this instead, i’m going to lunch. Bye everybody!”
I’ve never seen a match that made me more emotional than Trento vs Civitanova. I could talk about the fact that Trento is now first in Superlega, something that probably nobody could have predicted at the beginning, or about the fact that Giannelli won MVP again. But instead, i need to talk about the behind the scenes facts because those were the ones that made me emotional. Simone this morning was feeling ill. He had a stomach bug, nothing worrisome, but he could eat only crackers and nothing else. Everybody was saying that he wasn’t going to play because of that. We were all sure, and then at the end he did. He played even if it was clear he wasn’t feeling very well, even if at times he was almost on the verge of fainting, even when they had to put ice on his left hand (that had already one sore thumb) because of a ball hitting him. He continued to play and he played at his best, making even seven points. This is how a sportive should be. This boy, who has only 20 years, is teaching everybody what it means to be a professional, what determination and tenacity really means. And thanks to all his teammates who were there for him, who supported him, trying to comfort him and probably saying to him to not give up (but never to go to rest, NEVER that hahah). So yeah, i’m emotional. Thank you Trento for another wonderful match and thank you Simone Giannelli to be an example to everybody!
