I'm very well tempted to HC the idea that Zero first asked X out, after quite some time of build up, on the field. While putting the sabre through someone's face.

And then later, post Z-series if not!dead/theywerecapableofbeingputbacktogether(again) plot during cleanup, exactly repeats the probably very cheesy lines to show off a bit to X. Except more dramatically. Which may or may not involve X being snared around the waist.

Just to let X know he remembers everything.
