Recently on LinkedIn, a business wrote a post because they had found that competitors were appearing to be putting adverts on Google using their exact business name. Some may use this tactic but there probably are other reasons.
A company called Elite Pest Control recently found that a competitor were coming above them on Google with paid adverts. (Below is the advert.)
In reality this company are probably not targeting the their competitor specifically and may not even be aware of it. This is because it often can be down to the way the dynamic ads are set up on Google.
Without doubt the advertiser will have set up "pest control" as a key phrase and then tell Google Ads to accept any word before and after that e.g. "Super pest control" or "pest control services" as long as it contains the two words "pest control". They can then tell Google to include the whole phrase in the dynamic ad to help grab attention.
To counteract this another advert could be created using your business name as the key phrase and then outbid them to be at the top.
Alternatively contact them to ask them to remove this or try making a complaint with Google if you have the phrase/name as a trademark.
