Change of topic for final presentation

Like I wrote in the discussion document. With the help of my teammates, I change my topic from VR game and business to the Roommake for New Yorkers.

Roommake is dedicated to provide an efficient and interactive platform for users to find their ideal roommates and offer personalized solutions for their rental problems, so that people can easily solve the problems about finding roommates, renting and moving, which makes Roommake become the one-stop platform for rental solutions.

The overall strategy will be that the website and App will be launched in the summer vacation.Roommake will cooperate with 2-3 brokers before launching. In the long term, Roommake will also conduct the rental business. The roommate searching & matching service of the website is free for users. Put effort and invest on digital marketing especially social media to attract traffic to the website and App in the beginning. Check the users information to make sure the safety and privacy protection. In the long term, Roommake will become the one-stop provider of rental solutions.

Why last-click attribution doesn’t always provide a true picture picture of which marketing technique works best.

In my opinion, last-click attribution is easy to track which channel the customer attributes without any doubt. However, a customer purchase journey before attribution may be a short or long process; it may be one day, one week or one month.

For those customers who have a longer time before converting, they may be exposed to several kinds or channels of advertisement of this product so they are influenced in many ways; they convert at last by clicking the most recent or handy email or link.

As a result, many marketing technique contributes to this conversion, but only the last-click counts. The company may think that the most regular marketing technique attributes the most so that it is the most useful.

There will be some floating number of conversions that are influenced by many but are attributed from one marketing technique.

To wrap up, I do not think that floating number of conversions is big enough to influence the big picture or trend of marketing technique so much.

The law would give Californians more information and control over how their data is being used. It would also place the onus on consumers to request information about who is collecting the data collection and how businesses will use it.

Regulations Need to Cater for Time

Many consumers do not know their information is being used for commercial purposes or the horrible outcomes of data leaks.

Government should stand out and help people to realize this question; General Data Protection Regulation is really in need and set up to control the data flow.

Companies can not use the customer data without customers’ approval and the cookies of the companies can not be stored in the private computer for over one month.

More regulations are needed to perfect this digital society and more common knowledge are needed to help consumers protect the privacy.

Email marketing was very useful in old ages when digital marketing was not mature as present; at that time, people used email to do business very often and email was considered as the most important way to communicate.

Steam Transactional Emails

Recently I received 21 transactional emails from Steam game platform because I purchased some small packages (each $1.99). However, I don’t think Steam should send me 21 transactional emails with all the same information, though the invoice numbers are different.

Instead, I think Steam can send me an transactional email of a period of time to me; for example, send me an email of all purchased in an hour or send weekly and monthly report. Sending 21 emails in a few minutes is really disturbing and troublesome.

Furthermore, my advice for this kind of consequent purchases is that Steam can have a special kind of transactional email to record all the consecutive orders from the first to the last; after the user stopped purchasing for about several minutes or the balance in the wallet becomes $0, Steam can send an overall transactional email accordingly.

Risk of Mobile Third Party Payment

As we all know that since iPhone introduces the touch ID function. All the mobile apps provide the touch ID interface including those third party payment apps. With the third party payment apps booming in China, more and more people prefer to use this kind of E-wallet rather than physical bank cards. Sometimes you just need 1 second to process the payment with your face ID or touch ID.

The question comes that there is a processing procedure between the third party payment cooperation to the bank and also the transfer records of third party payment are not that legal effective and revocable, which means if you make a wrong transfer or you are swindled through third party payment app. It is really hard to recover the loss.

So as a result, the safety issue is the priority of those third party payment cooperations. Another important thing is to complete the laws to clarify about responsibilities in the processing procedure for the bank and third party payment cooperation.

A Clean Future

Tesla is a well-known motor maker company in the industry which focuses on the energy clean electric vehicles. Tesla’s technology is no doubt to be the most advanced and so is its internal and external design of the car.

There is one strange fact that Tesla never used paid advertising to make sales though Tesla had several video campaigns which look really great. Tesla mainly made sales by word of mouth because its high quality and the organic followers of its social media.

It will be more helpful to sales if Tesla launches the video marketing cooperating with other paid advertising, I think. Maybe it is Tesla’s company tradition to not use paid advertising.

Supercookie

I remembered professor talked about the cookie in a class and was quite interested in cookie, as a result I searched about it and found out there is a special type of cookie named supercookie.

A supercookie is a type of tracking cookie inserted into an HTTP header by an internet service provider (ISP) to collect data about a user's internet browsing history and habits.

Supercookie is more like a tracking code and the biggest problem is that the supercookie is not stored in your browser or device; it stores somewhere else, to be specific, some internal portals between the website and your device, usually the servers held by the target website you visit. As a result, the traditional way to clear cookies does not help.

The reasons why they are dangerous are that firstly, online behavior is considered as a super private behavior and secondly the aims of the supercookies are making profit or some bad things in most cases, so protecting this kind of personal information is very important, or it will be like the horrible outcome of Equifax case, all those names, card information, phone numbers and addresses being hacked and maybe used in some bad ways.

I take Verizon case as an example. When people visit Verizon’s sites, Verizon puts the supercookie into a third HTTP header with the help of an ISP Verizon owns. Then the next time the user come, this supercookie will tell his identity as long as he is from the same device and no matter he clears the cookies or not.

So Verizon was fined 1.35 million for doing this without letting customers know. And I think even if the customers click yes when viewing the endorsement page, supercookies should always be forbidden since at present there are few effective ways to deal with this problem.

Here are three ways to deal with supercookies to some degree. 1, 2, 3. The first two ways enable you not to be tracked, and the last one is to believe the big companies’ reputation. But these ways will make the online experience more troublesome.

To wrap up, supercookie is really a big trouble to handle. Using supercookie is not legal and allowed at this stage no matter what your aim is. Private information and Internet safety always come first.

Recently I received several emails from amazon prime telling me that I was not taking full advantages of my Prime Membership because I could get exclusive access to an ad-free music streaming service at no additional cost.

My initial aim of getting a Prime Membership was to have a fast delivery and I did not know I can also watch free movies and listen to these songs.

When I click into this url which guides me to this landing page, and sign in with my amazon account, it can be seen from the photo that the user interface is simply organized on the left side and some latest albums on the right side with some general recommendations because I have no song in the playlist so the recommended songs may not be my favor.

When I scroll down the landing page, there are also some top songs, recently added songs and rankings for popular songs, so I can easily get started with my own playlist.

Furthermore, all the functions in the left column is well organized from the top till the end: the stations, others’ playlists, recently played, my own music and my playlist. Finally suggest you to try one-month unlimited trial.

When I take a whole view of this landing page and Amazon’s promotion email of Amazon Music, this landing page gives me an easy access and a very relaxing feeling that I can explore a new world in Amazon music for free, and after I get used to it, I may start my unlimited music plan.

The promotion email, the landing page and the simple user interface work together to make the customers feel that they are not forced to do so since Amazon Prime includes Amazon Music though limited.

If the music library in Amazon Music is plentiful enough, and the tone quality is also good enough, it may be successful in both PC software and mobile app fields.

This is the most impressive commercial for me. Since I am a big fan of the TV series A Song of Ice and Fire.

Peter Dinklage is a leading role as a wise man in the TV series; Morgan Freeman is a great actor. The theme of Doritos Blaze and MTN Dew right matches the theme of TV series.

In addition, the commercial is expressed in a hip-hop way, which will catch millennials’ eyes to a huge degree and those millennials are also the target audience of Doritos and MTN Dew.

The man and woman in the picture also plays an interesting part in this ad.

Digital Marketing, is it better for branding or for direct response?

I think, in most cases, digital marketing is used for the aim of raising awareness by means of advertising. As it is known, awareness is the very first step of business and with the help of some proper competitive and promotional strategies, digital marketing can result in a beneficial evaluation stage to make the consumers more tentative to make a purchase.
