Sometimes I’ve wondered just why she was so adamant that he do the song and perform so soon after her passing and after today I really think she knew that if he didn’t force himself, if she didn’t force him, then he might fall into something he wouldn’t come out of. She knew what music meant to him and she knew he needed to carry on with his music going forward and being all she knew he could be. It was harsh and no nonsense and it probably scared him but she was taking care of him like she always did, leaving him with one last great gift she could bestow onto him, a drive to keep pushing forward when it all feels like it’s going wrong. One tough lady who raised one tough son, but with that toughness came and comes so, so, so much love.
