If you've been getting that banner in your dash regarding the "I accidentally reported you" scam: Know that the scammers updated it to "someone is pretending to be you and committing fraud, and I reported you instead of the fraud", and are using MS Teams to communicate instead of Discord.
Scammers update their methods very quickly, so for all I know, they would have changed their strategy even now.
I luckily have screencaps - so here's what the scam will look like:
The fact that their username has "lockedxx" in it, and mine also had "lockedxx" in it once I got my blog back, indicates that they were a hijacked user. Once you send a mail to that ID, the hijacked user will ask you to send screencaps of the convo they had to the email as well. Then you'll get an email that looks like it's from staff (they use quirky language indistinguishable from what's in the dash also), that will tell you they never use Discord to communicate (referencing the original scam which @staff sent a PSA regarding).
Once you click the button, it will take you to MS Teams. MS Teams will be more likely to have your real name and sensitive info than Discord will, which is why the scammers changed to this. They'll ask you to provide your URL, DOB, and the country where you made the account. Then, they'll tell you to change your mail ID to the one sent from Tumblr support (as shown above) and logout from all devices. After this, they'll ask you to pay $100 to restore your account and claim they'll "refund the money immediately."
I don't know what happens after that, because this was the point where I sent them a screencap of Tumblr's own support page saying they never ask for money, and they started giving me empty threats of reporting me to the FBI. Obviously I blocked them after that. This was also my cue to change all the passwords on anything connected to this email and send out a ticket to get my blog back.
In hindsight, the support email being a gmail.com address, me never getting an email, and the shit like "prove your innocence" should have tipped me off before the asking me for money did, but at least I blocked them before they could get to me and immediately sent a ticket to the real @staff.
