&&. announcing his grace, ( otto kaspar zielcke ), the ( 33 ) ( 35 now ) year old ( grand duke ) of ( rhine ). he is often confused with ( robert pattinson ). some say that he is ( fanciful & capricious ), but he is actually ( diligent & dedicated ).
𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
otto kaspar zielcke is a man whose reputation often precedes him. it comes with the territory of being at the helm of rhine’s most effective and accomplished vehicle of leaders. he is young, but he runs a tight ship with his duke and duchesses. he counts himself lucky that their individual foibles complement each other seamlessly enough for things to run smoothly. they have their version of order, they like it, it works for them.
some people call him otto, some people call him ziel, some people call him kaspar — it depends on what capacity you know him in. he doesn’t mind either way. how you address him & how you see him are out of his control, so it’s not really a concern of his.
he does however introduce himself as kaspar.
kaspar is a man who is a little hard to explain; difficult to fit into a box. bit of an oddball to be designated the suave and well-mannered badge, but also too well-adjusted, refined and elegant to be called awkward or socially inept.
for one thing he’s a hybrid. his title was inherited from his father, his mother would have been marquess ( marquis? ) of basel had she not fallen so deeply for his father. their marriage was ill-fated, she was the source of a minor information leak, and her mistake wasn’t easily forgiven — it led her into the arms of someone else, and left to be with him ( that relationship, also ended eventually ). more on the history here.
while this means he is someone who hails from a broken family, it also means he’s lived in more than just one place, forging personal connections here and there, collecting experiences both as an heir and as a mere civilian. he comes from humbler beginnings than his peers: it makes him a little quieter, more observant, less prone to overt shows of pride.
this makes him a bit of a loner, a lot of his life was spent straddling the in-between be it geographically, emotionally, or between parents. when there is a tussle like that you often end up relying on yourself instead, and that’s okay. he prefers feeling alone in a crowded room, than with three people in an empty space, there is inherent safety in the former.
𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲-𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲
like most germans, he is direct and doesn’t envelope his words with multiple meanings or speak implicitly, but he is seemingly friendlier, he doesn’t mind being approached. he’ll just also be honest if you’re wasting time: he makes the things he says count.
he has this way about him that seems sympathetic and curious: it is peculiar because it isn’t contrived, a sort of childlike essence to it. it can give people the wrong idea sometimes — they assume either that he is being duplicitous or that he is easy to manipulate.
it’s not difficult to get him to talk, but he does not like to talk about himself.
he has a decent sense of humour, although you won’t find him cracking many jokes, it’s too awkward for him, however, he most likely will laugh at most of yours if they aren’t too clownish
by way of mannerisms, kaspar is soft and careful; delicate in the way he physically holds and handles things and is soft-spoken — a contrast to the rough sounding german language.
every so often his inner self will show itself, a sort of youthful innocence that remains in arrested development: a simplistic view of emotional complexities, that still feels things like wishful aspirations or hope or fanciful inventions that can only come from a vastly uninhibited imagination. this part of him is dichotomous with the smart, well-studied and capable adult who supplements these impulses & ideas with practical, actionable concepts. he doesn’t ever have ill-intentions — not really. but life is life, and work is work.
most of kaspar’s work is conducted on the basis of statistics. sending something out into the stratosphere always has results; numbers; sixteen different probabilities. those results and outcomes are what he uses as a measure for his next steps and figuring out which ones will land: a lot of the strategy is involved in reading the social tea leaves.
investments should see the maximum possible returns where possible. he doesn’t like to waste money or resources and believes these things should go toward the service and benefit of people who worked for them. if they are expended, the cost should not outweigh the outcome. quality over quantity.
𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲, 𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆
there is some irritation and discontent with current events in rhine that kaspar wants to see if he can fix. it’s been three years since his father passed away of cancer, and kaspar is building his own version of what he wants for rhine; what its future should look like.
he also wants to connect certain dots with his past, mend in his own latent way the things he obsessively believes he needs to hold onto.
these things he is going to take moment by moment, and he is not really afraid of failing when the voices of dissent for what he’s against are louder to his ears than they are to berlin.
the duke of rhineland-palatinate was supposed to join the program originally, but had to delay his arrival due to personal matters. when wiebke joined the program by herself, kaspar offered to go in his stead.
kaspar has little to no tolerance for bullies whether it’s of playground variety, or snakes dressed elegantly in finery and jewels. wiebke can handle herself, but seclusion is not well-fitted for a program like this and there are prying eyes and ears everywhere. all of rhine’s business and pursuits would cross bavaria one way or another, it would be easier to do it in person.
&&. is that ( robert pattinson )?? no, it’s just ( otto kaspar zielcke ). he is the ( grand duke ) of ( rhine ). he is ( 33 ) years old and his birthday is the ( 2nd ) of ( september ) which makes him a ( virgo ). he is ( diligent & dedicated ) and ( reserved & amiable ) but, unfortunately, also ( fanciful & capricious ). those traits just make him a ( ravenclaw ) and in scientific terms an ( istp ). he is ( heterosexual ) and the plaza’s ( clean slate ). his theme song is ( can you feel the sun ) by ( missio ). his interests include ( skiing & reading ). he practices ( nothing ) . his quirk is ( he breathes in deep, like a long sniff before saying something of deep importance ) and favourite quote is ( it takes a long time to grow young ) by ( pablo picasso ) because ( it was the last thing his father quoted, and laughed at ). last but not least he ( does ) believe in true love.
