Thoughts on those guys from Supernatural: Sam and Dean both need therapy, but Dean thinks therapy is a scam and Sam thinks only Dean needs therapy.

i think the thing about sam's damnation/demon blood arc in s4 which makes it all the more tragic but also fascinating is that i don't think sam is under any illusions about what's happening here. he's not an oblivious victim to his damnation he's a consenting participant in it. yes he gets manipulated into it but he's not so naive to not know what's happening to him. he's well aware of the moral repercussions of what he's doing. i think in his head he has convinced himself that it's worth it. he thinks he's already damned so he might as well do something good with it. he might as well be the one calling the shots. the road to hell is paved with good intentions. sam knows that. he's just expecting to be the only one who has to walk into the hellfire at the end of the tunnel. unfortunately for him he ends up taking like. the whole world with him.

hbo spn where sam has demon blood and this is a little bit more inconvenient. sam can’t eat salty foods because it burns when it goes down. he tries to wash it away with water but the pain is imprinted all the way down his throat. he refuses to eat the cheap takeout food john buys and starts eating salads. sam on a hunt who whispers “christo” at a demon and feels like his insides are tearing apart. sam who edges carefully around the devil’s trap on the floor without saying anything as he leaves the motel room. john is watching him. sam who is baptized by pastor jim and whose flesh itches and sizzles in the holy water sprinkled across his head even as he feels purified. sam who chokes out the words to the hail mary and goes to church every week at stanford. sam who keeps trying to be holy anyway.
