Zoe nodded. "It was quite the surprise to me." She said. Zoe looked at the little boy that the women in front of her had strapped to her chest. "You answered my question. I was about to ask if he was yours." She smiled. Hearing her questions. "I am 28 weeks." Zoe told her. "I have only recently moved over here and my husband and I have just found a place here. So this would be the nearest hospital."

It did never take long for the place to move on, physically speaking, at least. Everything that had been on Ros’ desk was already gone, swept away as though she’d never been there at all. But how many had been the same? How many people had once worked at those desks that didn’t anymore? People who had either left, been forced out or perished – - it wasn’t a thought Lucas wanted to entertain much, not knowing just how much he missed in the years he’d been locked away in prison, but there were those moments where he’d ponder which category he might one day fall under. Maybe it was better not knowing. “I’ll bet.” The Cumbrian half smirked to himself as he threw her a playful smile that leaked only into one side of his face. “Hope you’re well rested. Got a busy day ahead of us. Then again, when is it not?”
Zoe had hated how quickly things moved on after they lost someone. She could understand why but how quick their desks would be cleared of their stuff. She knew that it had happened to hers. Thankfully she had got her desk back when she came back to the UK and back working here. She couldn’t help but look towards the few desks that had belonged to people she had once worked with. Hearing Lucas, she looked back at him. “You do realize I am joking, don’t you?” Zoe asked. “I am not a partying kind of girl.” He laughed. “So...yes. I am well rested. I had an early night.”

As the new Section Chief made his way over to his desk, shedding his jacket from his back to place over the back of his chair, there was little escaping how different things felt without Ros there. He’d been so used to wandering in and seeing her look up from whatever she was doing, whether she’d been on her computer, looking through files, or just having a drink of coffee before the day really started, it had become like clockwork — - but time and time again, it was odd how quickly everything could change in that place. A mere second all it could take for everything to go from another day at the office, to impending chaos following their every move. With a heavy sigh, he sat himself down in front of his screen, leaning forwards to log himself into his computer, grabbing at his to-go cup of coffee that he’d bought on the way in to take a quick gulp. “Morning, Zoe.” Lucas greeted his blue eyes raised from the screen. “Get up to much this weekend?” He began with a growing curve at one side of his lips. “No wild parties, I hope.”
Zoe could understand how the people working here felt. The last time she was here, there had been a couple of people they had lost and that had been hard. Even when she had been in Chile, there had been members of the team lost and it hit her hard when she came back. Even the people that had just left, like Tom. It was just weird being here with an almost new team. She hadn’t know Ros that well, but it was odd not seeing here. Zoe was just coming back from getting herself a drink when she had heard Lucas. She looked over and smiled. “Morning” She said as she say down at her desk. “Oh yes....I went to an amazing one on Saturday night.” She said, joking. She wasn’t someone who went to parties like that.
jo-m-portman-rp:
“Why? He didn’t seem unimpressive, bar the snoring.” He laughed.
Zoe laughed. “I think that might have been what put her off. I mean...even I was woken up by that in a completely different room.”

The ambulance stopped and the paramedics got out. “Zoe?” One asked. Aimee gestured to the other woman. “Right love, can you walk to the ambulance?”
Zoe went to answer the paramedic but Aimee had already motioned towards her. She nodded but then shook her head. “No. I don’t think I can.”
jo-m-portman-rp:
“Ok. I’ll take you back to yours.” He smiled. He drove her to the flat, then made them a cuppa. “I wonder if the other fellas been back” he joked
Zoe looked confused when he said about the other fella. “Oh, you mean the guy Jo was here with? I doubt that.“
jo-m-portman-rp:
“Yeah, unless there’s a massive emergency” Lucas explained. “Yours or mine?”
“Yes, there is always that chance.“ Zoe said. When he asked where, she shrugged. “I don’t mind whose place we go to.“
spyinginherblood:
The ambulance came round the corner and Aimee flagged them down. “You’re doing brilliant. Grab Tom like that when he’s here.”
“Well, he isn’t here at the moment.“ Zoe told her. “So I can’t.“
jo-m-portman-rp:
“Well, im going to take you home, make you a decent cuppa then you’re resting”
“Well, I know your cuppa is better than here.“ She said, nodding towards the hospital. “Are you finished for the day?“
spyinginherblood:
“You apparently.” She smiled. “It’s ok. He’s coming.” She looked up as she heard sirens in the distance
Zoe looked at her and was about to say something but she didn’t. Aimee was right. She couldn’t argue about that. “Oh, thank....ah!” She grabbed hold of her tighter.
spyinginherblood:
“He’s on his way..just breathe… probably stuck in traffic.” Aimee smiled softly
Zoe groaned. “Who thinks about working at this point?” She said, talking about Tom but then there was the fact that she had been at work too.
jo-m-portman-rp:
He pulled up a little later and got out and opened the passenger door for her. “how you feeling?”
Zoe was glancing around when she noticed his car arrive. She made her way over. “Thanks” She said as she got in. “I feel as if I am glad to be out of there.”
jo-m-portman-rp:
“They’ll not be long, and you’re doing really well..”
Zoe held on to her. “And where is Tom?” She asked. “Just wait until I get my hands on him.”
jo-m-portman-rp:
He rang her “ok , I’m coming now” he told her
When her phone rang, she wondered if he was calling to say he was out somewhere but thankfully he wasn’t. “Okay. I will see you when you get here.” She said. Zoe then sat down outside and waited. Thankfully it wasn’t raining.
jo-m-portman-rp:
Lucas kissed her again “I’ll see you later”
Zoe kissed him. “See you later.” She said. A few hours later, she was allowed to leave. As she headed out, she texted Lucas. Knowing her luck, he would be busy.

Zoe looked at her. “It took us long enough to get down here.” She said. “Well, I have felt so much better.”
