Dinner For One || Zoe & Melissa
“Yo-reum. Means summer. Apparently that was my mom’s favorite season. Never made sense to me because the desert has to be the shittiest place to be in the dead heat of July.” She shrugged and started to curl a finger around a lock of hair absentmindedly. “Melissa Yo-reum Choi. Doesn’t have much of a ring to it I guess. Nothing cool like Alecto. What is that, Greek?”
Melissa paused for a minute, sizing the girl up. “Sixteen, maybe seventeen.” A compliment was one way to work your way onto her good side. “Really? I don’t know, the color has to be just right, you know what I mean? It took years for me to perfect my blonde. Ever gone any lighter? I think it would work for you.”
"Yo-reum? That's pretty. Like, not just the word, but the meaning too, I mean." It really was. Melissa could say whatever she wanted, it definitely had a ring to it. "I think it does," Zoe said, smiling brightly. "And yeah, it's Greek." Telling Melissa what it meant.. She wouldn't do that unless the Crybaby asked. Despite it having been years since she discovered it herself, she still felt sort of bitter about the irony of it all.
"Hah!" Sixteen, huh? True, she could probably pass for that. "Oh, for sure. Your blonde's looking pretty good, though. And I would? Hm. Haven't considered it before, actually. I'll keep it in mind, though." She flashed a grin in Melissa's direction before she turned around to stir the food some more, finding two new bowls and two spoons before she split the food between the bowls and handed one to Melissa. "Here you go," she said, before she sat back down in her spot at the kitchen table.
