“Can’t a girl just like the taste?” she asked, dropping her hand.
“So, where the hell have you been?”
I could ask you the same question. Kid at the lab said you hadn’t been around in a while. Is this what you’ve been doing? Looks...sticky.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Let me guess, new raw meat diet? Something about blood making people stay younger or some shit like that?
Hey Chaos!
It’s been...a while...
Para: Lights will guide you home - William and Rizzo
William pursed a victorious smile, but leaned away from the sprinkling snow Rizzo shook off, and shifted discretely to give him space on the couch while placing the package of batteries on the table in front of them. He waited patiently for his leader to settle his thoughts- for he was still their, no, the leader, right?
“The resistance brought me here this time,” he started with a monotone and explaining voice intent on updating Rizzo. “Garrett and Scott has been bringing me here a couple of times to work on a device for an undercover agent. He’s helping us, and his name is Solomon, Maverick Solomon. A dark man. The lab is moved, however I left an alarm system and the satellite radar for you guys to use. Laina will know about it, but keep an eye on Tiana, she messes with stuff, and she eats a lot. I am only returning to the station one more time to fetch my things.” The timid man looked like he was about to burst words, but he kept it short and controlled mostly.
The lab had been moved to a safe bunker the Resistance had, and William was intent on hiding down there as much as he was allowed to. The soon retired Killjoy continued to answer Rizzo’s questions with a humbled voice; “I have been freed several times by different people from different- scumbags. Once by Maverick actually. Another time by Corbin, the Crybaby leader.” William paused after the last cheerful sentence, and hoped Rizzo would find the information of good news- after digesting it of course. For once William didn’t feel bad about talking more than usual.
Maverick? Rizzo shook his head, as if he could shake a face into his mind’s eye that matched the name. Nothing came up. Whoever Maverick was, they hadn’t run into each other yet. It was times like these that Rizzo was in awe of his own memory. Being away of dates, names, and faces was just another skill he’d regained by committing to his sobriety.
“You’re leaving for real?” Rizzo had taken William’s words lightly at first but the look at the man’s face changed everything. Aging out was always a reality for gang members but with gun fights, kidnappings, and raids, one tended to overlook the little things. “I mean, joining these guys is a great idea. Sorry, I didn’t meant to sound like I was against the idea or anything. I think you’ll like it here.” Of course he would. William surrounded by science and no random teenagers bursting into his lab to annoy him about parties or another gang? Not too shabby. Saying goodbye would be hard though, even for someone who said very little like him. “Can I come back with you? You know, when you get your stuff?”
Para: Lights will guide you home - William and Rizzo
A few ragged gasps and William collected his wits. He tried to stand, but couldn’t due to a sudden dizziness, so he shifted to sit straight in the couch. Staring at Rizzo attentively, his mind rebooted and placed his own questions back in line in order to reply; “I age out…” William answered and frowned shortly at his own ability to keep cool. Looking back up to survey the man’s condition- he saw he looked better. Cold, but better. The hacker chuckled lightly, and thinking Rizzo would appreciate a greeting joke rather than shock and surprise, he said with a wry insecure smile; “Did I pester you that much that you waited to return until I aged out? You could have just thrown me out, you know.”
The worried man, having felt betrayal and abandonment by Rizzo’s disappearance, looked at his leader in sad relief, yet he smiled in happiness while fighting to keep his eyes dry. The man was as forgiving as a puppy, and just as loyal. He was glad to see Rizzo so fresh and alive. William’s worried brows explained months of distress and confusion, but he didn’t start the questioning too soon, not wanting to pester his leader- He’d slowly feed them to him, though he hoped he got the time.
“Uh...” Rizzo just stared at him. Sure. he’d been prepping for his return to the gas station, but that just wasn’t the same as having a Killjoy staring him in the face long before he was ready. William’s words finally reached him and Rizzo broke into a smile, letting out a nervous laugh. “Nah, I was holding out for you and Uley. Figure I’d take out two with one stone.” He shook off his jacket, sprinkling bits of snow on the floor, and sat down next to his friend. Pulling off his knitted beanie and wiping the sweat from his forehead, Rizzo found himself at a loss for words. He stared at the wood floor, his eyes following the the patterns made by the grain. Here he was, the new and improved Rizzo, and he couldn’t even string a few sentences together.
“Did you...did someone bring you here?” Magical words appeared, dancing their way off his blue tinged lips and pretending they were planned. “I didn’t think everyone was into having random people show up and hang out.” He knew they didn’t. If it hadn’t been for the group’s leader seeing Rizzo as more than just a faded junkie, he would’ve been dead on the side of the road. The resistance was not a fun little party. They meant fucking business. “Were you freed from somewhere or something? Did something happen at the station?”
Para: Lights will guide you home - William and Rizzo
The conversation with Chaol from the Lost Boys had really taken its toll on the hacker, so he’d slumped down on the couch in the common room, and he’d almost fallen asleep when the rebellion group returned.
He saw them move into the kitchen and ignore him but for a single man throwing him a package of batteries. He almost dropped the package when seeing someone else entering; A red head the hacker had only hoped to ever see again. Was he dreaming? William wanted to cry, he wanted to punch Rizzo, he wanted to overwhelm him with questions, but as usual, he stayed silent. However this time he had to be excused: he was in shock.
Searching for better ways to transport supplies in the snow had been a grueling task Rizzo was not prepared for. His time with the Resistance had taught him a lot about teamwork and his own inner strength, but by the fifth or sixth icy hour of digging and pushing through the snow he’d winded himself. The snow was powdery and unnatural for the territory. A light dusting and maybe snow capped mountains made for a typical winter in Avalon. The bizarre snowstorm blowing across the rest of the desert seemed to be a gift from the devil himself. After aiding in any way he could, Rizzo’s muscles were shot.
Feeling as if his limbs were chunks of ice, he trailed behind the group as they returned home. Some nights cracking jokes and swapping stories couldn’t top a nice, hot bath. Stepping through the door, Rizzo fully intended to make a beeline for the bathroom and be the first one to show. Instead he stopped short of the couch.
William.
The Killjoy was sitting right in front of him.
“Uh...wha-how-what are you doing here?” He asked, rather lamely.
Well since I haven’t seen her around I assume she left and didn’t come back. If you’re such good friends with her, wouldn’t you know where she is? Then again, your gang didn’t know where you were for a while so maybe that’s not a good question. I’m Andie.
Excellent point, Andie the Gatekeeper.
I’m sure she’ll turn up. Thank you for be so helpful. Next time I drop by, I’ll make sure to say hi to you.
Not for a while, no.
Did something happen? I mean, I’ve been super out of the loop. You gotta fill me in- What’s your name?
So you’re not dead…interesting…
Anyway, Judas might be.
No Chaos?
Why should I tell you?
Ever hear stories about that Killjoy leader who was a little too into partying who just disappeared? That’s me.
Chaos, Judas, and I go way back. Trust me.
“If you’re looking for a favor you definitely came to the wrong person.”
Actually I’m looking for Judas or Chaos. Either of them in right now?
How were we supposed to know that? For all we know he had popped you because of an unpaid drug…thing.
Saw him at a Crybaby party, that’s all I know.
...Okay. Well, thanks for letting me know.
Next time I have a guest, I'll be sure you know they're cool so you don't, you know, try to kill them.
Like I need it. I’ll throw it out, and you’ll owe me a favor.
Fine, just take care of it for me, okay?
Remi: thx man. good fr u. & tell firecrotch frm me 2 not fall dwn stairs r sth. she already got 2 lil braincells
Rizzo: Haha. Okay.
What is it exactly?
Drugs. Bit of everything, honestly.
You could probably make some money or something.
Remi: ik. im good. u?
Rizzo: Yeah. Clean. Better. If you need anything, let me know.
… I’m listening.
I need you to get rid of some stuff in my old dresser for me.
Sell it, burn it, whatever. I just don't need to see it anymore.
