Zola Athena Sharp || 32 || Scorpio || Nurse / Lounge Singer
______________________________________________________________
About: Zola Athena Sharp was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Tamara Sharp, a 15-year-old with no hope or help for the future. While she didn't want to get rid of her child, she couldn't raise her either, so she gave the girl up to the system in hopes that Zola would be okay. But before then, she gave the girl names of strength. Zola, which is in African and Swahili means of Earth, and Tranquil and Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom. She wanted her daughter to have a strong name because the world was an awful place. And for Zola, that was needed; the girl was bounced from home to home, never really finding somewhere she belonged.
Zola's personality and/or vibe.
Zola is an enigma to most people, as she could be cold and off-putting to some and warm and loving to others. It just depends on her mood, her life at the moment. She is very caring and protective, kind and stubborn, sassy and sweet. But she also has a mean streak and no tolerance for bullies and jerks. She is soft and angelic but fierce and determined. Purple sunset with pink undertones, sweet and sassy, high heels, and high tops. And she smells of cinnamon and brown sugar.
Bio: TW: Abuse
Because Zola moved around a lot, she didn't really have any friends. Her whole life, she was always the new girl, and right when she felt like she finally fitted in, she was taken from her home and put in a new one. Zola was in and out of foster care when she was born until she was 17, when she aged out of the system. Though she didn't have a home, though she didn't have support, Zola worked hard to get money for school. It took longer than she expected, but she received her degree in Nursing. Once graduated, she was able to find a steady job and a place to live, and that is where she met Jensen. He was tall, sexy, and so sweet to her she fell head over heels in love.
So that is why she didn't catch on to the fact that he was using her, gaslighting her, and ultimately, in the end, he started to abuse her. It started small, when she was working late and not answering, he would show up to her job, when she wanted to hang out with the friends she made, he made her feel bad for leaving, soon he was angry anytime she left. But he was the first person to love her, to want her, and she thought that was how love went. The first time he hit her, she should have left, but he cried and promised never to do it again. By the time they had been together for two years, the hitting was constant, and being a nurse, she hid it well.
After a bad night where he broke a rib and her wrist, she knew she had to leave. The restraining order didn't work or last. He broke that several times and the police wouldn't do anything to help her. So she moved into a different place and took extra measures to not be found out. He waited for her at work, called her all hours, and finally when he broke into her house and violated her, she had fought back. When the police arrived, even though he was in her home and had violated her, they just wrote it off as a lovers quarrel. He was a master manipulator, so she left Baltimore. Ran away to New York, then Boston, Las Vegas, and now she found herself in Phonix. She had been running for 5 years. Taking odd jobs singing and working at free clinics but never staying long enough to be tracked.
Phoenix had been a fluke, she was headed to L.A., but a job opening at the hospital had intrigued her. She wanted to take back her life, and Nursing was her way of doing that. SO when she got the job, she got a completely fresh start once again doing what she loves. She is still wary of people, mostly men, but she is hoping her luck gets better.
important dynamics with other potential characters or npcs.
She knows she has family out there but she has no idea where. She has relied on herself for so long she has no idea how to let others help.
Relationships are tricky because Zo is waiting for the other shoe to drop any time she is in one. Trust is hard and she doesn’t really know if she has it in her to truly be open to people
Zola has no friends because she grew up in foster care and because she moved around due to her ex she doesn’t really have anyone to rely on.
