Life update time!
I have made the decision to become a veterinarian and eventually specialize in birds and other companion exotic animals :)
My little special needs budgie, Poe, is who inspired me. A few months before he passed, he had a medical emergency and I was unable to find an emergency vet that could see birds less than an hour from me. It was horrific speeding down the highway during rush hour traffic with him peeping softly beside me in the passenger seat, actively trying to die. After that experience I realized I want to help other avian and exotics owners in their times of need since it is so difficult to find quality care for our little loves in their time of need, especially if our pets have diseases like Poe did.
As luck would have it, I adopted another bird to be a companion for Finn after Poe had passed, and he came with a slew of medical problems. But this just reaffirmed that this is what I’m meant to do. I was lucky enough to have been admitted to 4/5 schools to which I applied on my first admission cycle! And in just two weeks, classes will be starting!
I’ve been feeling lost in my career for several years now, but I think this may have finally been what I was looking for. I just didn’t have the confidence in myself that I would be able to succeed. It will definitely be tough, but I am ready to take on this new challenge - and in four years I will be DOCTOR Zoofitness!
Let’s do it!
