The universe is over and the small gods that aren't quite gods but more akin to accountants and landlords, and so perhaps devils, have paid the physics bills and are painting the milky way a marketable beige, although the old hope is still leaking through (they have once again forgotten to call the plumber).

They turned the stars off, something about light pollution. Light is still traveling through space. An old blue planet, infested with entirely ufashionable life, has been swept into the far corner and covered with a new "no smoking" sign. The world is over, for now, but it didn't end.

Soon, with the way they placed the new shower, there will be mould on the firmament carpet, and where there's mould, there's life.

bucharest, 1990. people are queuing at the mihai eminescu bookstore to buy newly published books from humanitas, one of the first publishing houses in post-communist romania. (source: după ‘90, a photo-documentary project of everyday life in 90s romania) 

i love this photo so much. it’s undated but likely taken only a few months after the december 1989 revolution and the fall of ceaușescu’s dictatorship. a few months before, these people were sitting in similar queues for hours hoping to buy food and would often go home empty-handed in the end. the regime had full control over what got published, over what you were and weren’t allowed to watch, listen to, talk about, joke about, laugh about. some of the first things humanitas published immediately after it was founded in february 1990 were books and authors previously banned under communism. life was still shit in a lot of ways in the early 90s. we were still poor and beyond that you can’t just shake off decades of brutality and collective trauma like it’s nothing. but people were queuing up to buy books like they had been queuing up to buy bread after they had been starving in more ways than one. i love this photo to tears.

My deepest darkest fantasy is that I collapse on the street and I am rushed to the hospital. They perform a bunch of tests and find out I am severely deficient in some kind of vitamin. Then I start taking the vitamin and I become the happiest cleverest person alive because all my problems were caused by this one deficiency

Life is quite literally all about enjoying amazing food and seeing little silly films. Releasing as much art from your mind into the real world as possible. Building community in spite of individualism. Passing along kindness to strangers. Finishing off the day with a delectable ice cream or a novelty beverage of some kind. Oh and ignoring your notifications.
