ZEUS, father of gods and men - (3/9) GREEK GODS/GODDESSES

For the Greeks, Zeus was the King of Gods, overseer of the universe, and the god of sky and thunder. He was also known to be the dispenser of Good and Evil. He resided on Mount Olympus and ruled over the other Olympians, one of whom was his wife Hera.  As the father of the gods, Zeus saw to it that each deity performed his or her individual duty, punished their misdeeds, settled their disputes, and acted towards them on all occasions as their all-knowing counsellor and mighty friend.  As the father of men, he took a paternal interest in the actions and well-being of mortals. He watched over them with tender solicitude, rewarding truth, charity, and uprightness, but severely punishing perjury, cruelty, and want of hospitality. Even the poorest and most forlorn wanderer found in him a powerful advocate, for he, by a wise and merciful dispensation, ordained that the mighty ones of the earth should succour their distressed and needy brethren.

Common symbols of Zeus are the sceptre, the throne, the eagle and the thunderbolt which was a gift from the Cyclops after he had liberated them.

Zeus leaned back against the hood of his car, parked sedately on the street beside the neighborhood park. Nobody was in sight - at least, in his sight, when most of it was focused on the cloudless sky above him. At last, all the plans were (roughly) made and they were going on a honest-to-goodness proper adventure. Traveling far and wide as well, which, though Delphi was a beautiful city and he did rather like it, he wanted to spread out, just as most teens. Luckily most teens weren't also the 'supreme ruler of the sky', so their wanderlust wasn't as bad as his. He had had running and sports to console him thus far, but his blood thrummed to get going.

"Ah..." he groaned, smashing his hands onto his face with a sigh, forgetting he had his phone in his hands. "Argh! Pfft, I'm such a ... whatever. Let's just goooooo..." He told himself, dragging out the last sound. Carelessly, he whipped out a text without looking at who he sent it to - after all, there were only so many people he texted, and none were so far telling him they would ride in his beautiful silver Lincoln.
