Here’s the combined result of over 50 hours of work- my artistic interpretation of every mission from chapter 1 of rdr2. It was originally @photo1030’s idea to put them together but I ended up making more of a collage than a storyboard.

Was kinda getting sick of drawing snow, lol.  Now time for Horseshoe Overlook!!

‘…and then you walk past all this fishing gear that you can buy?’ I love this line because it’s not quite right. It’s a bit messy in its syntax; beautifully unpolished improv.

It feeds into the mood of the scene. Unselfconscious, which is exactly the right tone. Stede and Ed are world-building in their own private bubble. Are they aware Lucius is there still? They’re not the Gentleman Pirate and Blackbeard, the masks are coming off. Two mates - relaxed, bantering, ribbing each other, flirty-bickering… there’s so much familiarity and relatability going on.

Sure, Ed’s verbally peacocking and posturing a little, but Stede’s so there for it and more than a match. Ed controls the narrative initially, but Stede quietly steals it, playing along with Ed’s unconventional restaurant set-up, before blindsiding him with a fictional meet-cute which saves the day and lights up Ed’s brain.

And forget the marmalade, I want Ed’s ‘Awww…!’ on toast.

I always think Ed underestimates Stede a little in this scene. He keeps pushing back, Mr Cool: ‘if you weren’t being a dick’/ ‘That’s a busy night’ / ‘I might get you in’. And Stede just confounds him: ‘Who’s that guy?’ ‘That’s me.’ I got in. You can hear Ed thinking: No-one has ever outwitted me verbally before. Ed has no words left. Just a noise. It’s a sort of ‘You win’. 🙂

Ed doesn’t like nature, but Stede does, and Ed going on hikes and camping and sitting out in the woods with Stede because Stede loves doing it and Ed loves Stede. Ed listening to Stede as he tells Ed all about every plant and bug they come across. Ed eventually being able to point different plants and bugs out on his own and Stede looking at him with shiny eyes and feeling loved and liked because Ed saw a plant he thought Stede would like to see.
