They definitely did have a first kiss, but it wasn't romantic at all
Dottie is very forward with men when she gets the courage. However, she has NO idea how healthy relationships or boundaries actually work. She'll say blunt and sexual things or imply stuff without really "flirting" in a normal way, which almost always comes out wrong. The second someone actually responds to her with real attraction, she kind of short-circuits. She gets excited, overly eager and even worse with boundaries…which has gotten her into trouble before. She is used to being seen as strange or off-putting, so genuine interest kind of confuses her more than rejection does.
I think Franco is the same in a different way. He's very insecure and through his whole life people saw him as a freak, so when someone genuinely sees him (instead of fearing him or using him) it throws him off way more than he expects and he gets kind of defensive from it, even suspicious, because why would anyone like him? He is aware of his looks and what kind of person he is. He would think, maybe they just want something from him. I think he believes that all relationships are transactional.
Their first kiss was when they were briefly put together in the same trial again for Prime Time, around 2 months after they first started being around each other.
They were arguing after a trial that went badly. Neither of them had managed to get a kill and they immediately decided it was the other's fault. Franco started running his mouth right away and Dottie fired back to defend herself. It wasn't even a serious argument at first, they argued constantly, but it kept escalating because neither of them knew how to let anything go, especially when both of them were irritated and defensive of their ego.
It went in circles for several minutes until Dottie accidentally hit a nerve. She said something that landed a little too close to the truth, something that hit at his insecurity around masculinity and made him feel small. Whatever it was, she meant it as an observation while Franco heard it as an attack.
The problem was that she wasn't entirely wrong. Franco got visibly angry from it, which only made him feel worse because now she could see she'd gotten under his skin. So he did what Franco always does when he feels vulnerable: he got mean.
He stepped forward and got in her space, trying to intimidate her.
Except Dottie didn't back down, instead she just stared at him with a confused expression. They knew neither of them could actually hurt each other and the Prime Assets knew better than to find out what the consequences would be if they did - but it didn't stop either of them from acting like they weren't about to jump each other.
Suddenly they were standing way too close, and neither of them seemed to realize it until it was already awkward. They were both still furious, but now there was something else mixed in. They were both aware of each other in a way they usually tried to avoid thinking about.
Franco kissed her first by instinct and Dottie immediately made it worse in the way only she can💀 She grabbed him too fast, and kissed back way too eagerly.
They broke apart, stared at each other, and then both got awkward in different directions at the same time. Franco acted like an asshole about it while Dottie was baffled, then got shy and started overthinking everything out loud.
Some might think this is out of character for Franco, because USUALLY he is a freak when it comes to any women (especially women who he can project his fetish onto) but I like to think with Dottie it's a bit different because she lacks everything he is attracted to, like "sex appeal" or maternalness (Her whole character is about her lacking traits that men found attractive at that time). No matter what, she just doesn't fit into the madonna-whore complex he has and because of that he sees her as something entirely different.
Btw have you ever thought abt writing Dottie and Franco's voice lines about each other?💖
I wrote both gameplay and Prime Time dialogues for Dottie but I never shared them because I'm thinking of rewriting most of them. Franco's voicelines about her are currently in the works!

HII THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!! 💗💗 I have a lot of thoughts about them so this might be a bit long and more than what you asked about....
Dottie is my Prime Asset OC, so canonically she and Franco would have met in Sinyala during Prime Time. The shipping aspect is mostly an AU of mine, realistically a proper relationship wouldn't really be possible in that place.
Dottie's backstory is really long but here's a somewhat quick summary: She grew up in extreme poverty in rural Georgia in the 1920s. Her family was abusive, deeply misogynistic and obsessed with purity culture. She was taught that a woman's worth depended entirely on her ability to be attractive, obedient, and sexually "pure"
Dottie was always awkward and withdrawn, and she became intensely jealous of other women...especially women who were pretty, confident, and socially admired.
During World War II she worked as a nurse and found comfort in being needed by others. After being severely disfigured during the Bari air raid, she returned home only to be rejected by her family and society. She felt she had "lost her womanhood" and this insecurity became central to her personality. Over time she developed a morphine addiction and began committing horrific crimes, this was all rooted in her obsession with "correcting" people and forcing them into gender roles.
As for Franco!
Her first impression of him was confusion, disgust and fascination. Dottie doesn't understand Franco's sexuality at all. Because of how she was raised, she has almost no healthy understanding of intimacy and sees sex as something that is only for reproduction. Franco's aggression and his connection to prostitues reminded her of her father, who was also abusive and Dottie as a child often caught him with prostitues.
Franco's first impression of Dottie was irritation but also curiosity. She is not his usual type. Dottie is flat-chested (yeah.), socially awkward, and deeply repressed. She comes from the kind of poverty he openly looks down on (We can see this bc of his Suburbs unused dialogues 😭). He becomes interested in her almost immediately though after seeing her "work"
Dottie performs "surgeries" on female reagents, she is reshaping them according to her warped ideas of femininity. She scars them and mutilates them all while insisting she is making them into "real women", though the real reason is her being jealous that they are desired and fertile. Franco finds this really attractive. He's fascinated by how soft-spoken she seems while carrying out such cruelty. He also finds her Southern accent and social awkwardness unexpectedly cute.
Both are deeply misogynistic, though in different ways. Franco only sees women as sex objects for his fetish while Dottie envies and resents them, especially those who embody the beauty and confidence she never had.
They both have daddy issues and an overwhelming need to be loved.....
Neither of them knows how to form healthy attachments. Instead, they manipulate and hurt each other while depending on the attention they receive in return. Their relationship is highly abusive, it's filled with verbal degradation, jealousy, possessiveness and physical violence. They lash out at each other constantly! They are too emotionally dependent to let go though.
Franco also often mocks Dottie and attacks her insecurities, while Dottie tolerates and even seeks some of this. At the same time Dottie is emotionally manipulative in her own way.
I mentioned jealousy! Their jealousy is really complicated. Dottie is often resentful of other women, but she feels less threatened by Franco's encounters with them as long as it isn't genuine emotional attachment...she thinks what Franco is doing is normal because in her childhood she often saw her father cheating. So as long as Franco's attention returns to her, she is okay with it. In fact, most of the time they prefer to work together....do whatever you want with that information...
Both also struggle with addictions! Soo yeah....they're fucked up but in their own twisted way, they do love each other.

Coyle is played by a White Passing Indigenous Man, more specifically Apache, one of the indigenous nations that the KKK outwardly attempted to kill in the 1950s. It just makes it a little more funny to me. That he is a BIPOC man playing a man who would murder both him and his wife (who is also an Indigenous woman). It also lends a bit of irony and he makes social media videos about his culture, every so often reminding his audience that when they're saying they're attracted to Coyle they're actually attracted to a Native Man who pretends to be a white man on their TVs.
Phyllis Futtermann is a white, Jewish woman from New York. She had to learn how to speak in a Philly accent and found it difficult. She's an older lesbian and usually plays mother figures. She also has a fantastic relationship with her dad who, ironically, is an orthodontist.
Franco Barbi's actor is from Queens. His family is wealthy, but not criminal. He is the youngest and is actually quite mature. He absolutely hates having to wear his casts but quite enjoys playing a villain for once. He plays the lead detective on a NYPD based crime procedural.
Otto and Aurora are actually a married couple which is why they make so many inuendos toward each other. The director told them that their characters had an incestuous vibe and they ramped it up so high that it got caught in the final cut. In real life they've been married 40 years and have played a variety of roles, Aurora prefers stage acting and Otto loves being on TV.
Dottie and Falco (two of the IMHO BEST OCs on this hellsite and maybe just my personal favourites) have also become part of my AU. Dottie as Barbi's actual wife and on screen love interest and Falco as a german actor who has come back to acting recently after losing his leg in a motorcycle accident.

Here in this doc, it talks about one of the staff / mod / founding member of the server ( romtorum5ever ) and her disgusting past relationship with a minor and her overall behavior. While most of it can be seen as petty drama, I do recommend reading the section concerning her relations with someone far younger than her when she was fully aware adult.
