Jabber is like Akutagawa in that they live for the fight. It becomes an ultimate display of power, all they want and all they know. It becomes the only way for them to truly feel. They may be part of an organization, but they work alone. Their loyalties to their organizations are more fickle and their motivations are more surface level than either of them would like to admit, or even realize

Zanka is like Atsushi in that they fight because they must. Long ago. fight used to be a part of legacy, of their identity (Atsushi’s was subconsciously through his ability, but I digress). But now, things are different; they have chosen families. Not to protect, but to be strong with. What brought pain onto others can also save them, they just had to save themselves first.

Jabber is like Atsushi in that the pain keeps them tethered to reality. The pain is the most pressing reminder that ‘I’m alive. I feel.’ They know that this pain isn’t always deserved, but they also recognize that they cannot live without it. Also uh.. claw motif/imagery/usage heh

Zanka is like Akutagawa in their assumed mediocrity. They strive to be better, to be something, to be enough. Praise from a superior hits harder because they’ve done something to make them worthy. They don’t welcome the pain, but they understand that if it’s present, then they have failed in some capacity. Pain is always deserved. If you are defeated, then you just aren’t good enough
