WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP HEESEUNG AND ENHYPEN? please read below.
hi guys, i redownloaded tumblr again just to make this statement but heeseung leaving enhypen has caught many of us off gaurd. i think everyone is devasted by this and yes i know everyone is thinking about a future with enhypen as six and honestly I don’t want that either.
i came here to spread awareness about what we could do as a fandom. please refer to this thread first of all.
link one — HEESEUNG did not make the decision to leave—he was kicked out of ENHYPEN.
this shows everything that adds up to heeseungs departure if anyone was also fishy about his sudden announcement like me. honestly, it makes sense.
but now that we are aware, what can we as engenes do? thankfully, twitter engenes made a thread of everything we could do from our side to fully support heeseung and bring him back.
link two — things you can do to help enhypen
sign the petition.
link three — template to email journalists about the situation.
link four — guidance on calling / faxing hybes investment companies !
link five — i found this account very helpful with keeping up with updates and finding out ways to help enhypen.
please sign the petitions ( as to my knowledge, we already have just over 500k ), rich engenes donate if you can. and most of all, do not stop talking about it.
this is genuinely the least we can do and it’s heartbreaking to me that we have to take action when their shitty company can’t do jack.
reblog this post, share it, do anything you can to raise awareness because this isn’t a simple decision you make, this is injustice.
〔 𝒾 〕 How did you get so lucky as to bag one of the hottest men on campus, Sim Jaeyun? That question rings in your head often, even in moments you shouldn't feel insecure. And every answer is too unkind to speak out loud to the beautiful boy stealing hearts on the lacrosse field and upending your world with every smile he gives you. But he can sense something is off, and if you don't explain why soon, you may just be the downfall of everything.
⌗ 𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐥'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 ── First and foremost, thank you for all the love the teaser for this fic got, it makes me so happy that everyone was receptive to this premise and wanted to see the entire story! All of my loves who read this (@lovetaroandtaemin @frenchkisstheabyss @xomakara @innocygnet @tinycatharsis @xylatox @aeristudios and many others), I love you guys and thank you for motivating me to continue it. And to all of you, like I said in the teaser, you are greater than your worst thoughts, and the love that you deserve is waiting for you no matter your size or self-doubts. I hope you enjoy!
You never step out of the car.
It's routine to pick Jake up after every Tuesday and Friday lacrosse practice. You detested the idea at first. You didn't know Jake's teammates and friends—you made a point not to—but you predicted long ago they would smell your anxiety the second you shifted gears on the pavement. "Just have San or someone else do it, please?" You'd responded with something to that effect the first time he asked, and the subject was dropped.
But sticking to your guns became especially difficult once Jake discovered your undoing via his incessant pouting and perfectly-executed neck kisses. Ultimately, your resolve crumbled.
You've driven to and away from the field many times in the past four months, yet your physical reactions in between the driving never change. You sit with bated breath as you see the clock on your dash shift, ten minutes past when you were supposed to be here passing in a blur. Fingers tap against the steering wheel in time to the beat of the song, the melody humming low from your speakers. All of the humdrum habits and safety of your car keep you from feeling small, but the second your head turns, or a sound pulls you from your daze, you're fucked.
Your 2011 Volkswagen is no match for the Audis and Range Rovers surrounding you in the parking lot next to the lacrosse field. In the 9 PM moonlight, they all shine something fierce. The chrome and glossy finishes are in excruciatingly stark contrast to the chipped paint on your front bumper and aged rubber lining your tires.
You can't picture what the field must look like. Booster parents and college alumni's donations ensured top-dollar amenities for the team that you've never seen play once. The Red Hawks have to be formidable in some capacity in order to garner such adoration from your peers and financial support from the school administration.
Jake laughed it off when you said you never went to a game before him and didn't plan on doing so even after ending up in his bed. He just went back to kissing you at the time and let it go because he knew the truth: it wasn't a part of the deal you both agreed upon.
"Yet picking him up is?" Jungwon asked one morning after you told him about taking Jake home the night prior. You lovingly told your best friend to fuck off and mind his business. The questions on his face could have easily cracked through your cool resolve, but you wouldn't let them.
All that can do that is your own nerves, psyching you out in a million ways before Jake can step away from the field and make it to your passenger side door.
Ultimately, though, finally seeing his sweat-soaked hair and cherry-red uniform hugging his body makes the fears dissipate enough for you to breathe normally again. A handful of guys walk off, but Jake and a few friends remain near the edge of the field. You can hear his laugh before he can get to your car, his conversation with his teammates turning from strategy to straight comedy, no doubt. Felix and Vernon share brotherly handshakes with him before making it to their own cars. You tell yourself not to follow them with your eyes, but they betray you the second the two men leave your peripheral vision. The girls waiting outside their vehicles are eager to greet them, sporting denim cutoffs and tank tops meant to show off their midriffs.
Subconsciously, your hand drifts to your own stomach. The skin there hasn't seen the sun in a hot minute. The last time had to be when you were too drunk to care. Now, more than clearheaded, you feel the hard truths come in like tidal waves. The outfit you could never pull off taunts you like the cars do. It's another piece of the puzzle to prove you don't fit in, not really.
The light but purposeful taps to your window pull you from the precipice of another mental spiral. You turn to find Jake fogging up the glass with his quick breaths. His megawatt smile is electric, unfurling your somber mood like a bird's wing. He may desperately need a shower and some rest, but he's never looked more radiant than with his flushed cheeks and damp curls. For how bright the moon shines outside, he's the sun incarnate.
He gets in the passenger side once he sets his equipment in your back seat. After he's settled in, his smile is back on you, warming you with silent heat.
"You smell," you say before pecking his lips. The kiss lasts for only a few seconds, but it could be a lifetime from how slow and smooth it feels, numbing your thoughts to their core like novocaine.
"Oh?" he asks when you pull away, poking the inside of his cheek with his tongue.
"You're lucky I'm into that."
He chuckles. His lips are back on yours in the next second, the sound of his laughter still rumbling on his tongue when it enters your mouth. He presses his hand to your cheek, pulling you into him. The protective taping wrapped around his hand, running from knuckles to wrist, rubs against your cheek with every move of his mouth and fingertips.
You pull away to catch your breath, dizzy from the force of him. He whispers, "Let's go home."
He says the last word reverently, like home is just the two of you and nobody else. Exactly as it should be in his eyes. You try to believe it as you start the car, his hand firm on your thigh as you begin the drive back to his studio apartment. You want to take his words to heart, the only reassurance you'd ever need to quell the fear of opulence and beauty you barely possess, but you know the facts.
It won't last, so you have to enjoy what you can while you have it. But even that seems to be the hardest feat in the universe when you're reminded of what will soon be gone.
"Jaeyun—holy shit—right there." You gasp, moving your hips harder against Jake's soft lips. His tongue swirls around your clit as his fingers enter and exit your spongy walls. The brush of his fingertips hits you as hard as the murmurs of his words against your folds, praise leaving his lips as he admires the essence around his digits. You tighten around them with every swirl of his mouth on the hood of your cunt. He's desperate to make you fall apart once more, nuzzling deeper into you and moving faster.
You made it to his apartment quickly, the tension between you dissipating your earlier worries and transforming them into pure need. He may see it only as an expression of his desire for you, his stamina never-ending despite hours of practice. For you, it's the perfect way to make your ghosts go away, if only for a little while—his shower and rest be damned.
"She's sucking me in so well. Fuck, I love it," Jake comments, more for you than himself. He's a particular type of vulgar in bed. In normal conversation, he barely curses. Sure, he's still a guy surrounded by raging testosterone who possesses some fraction of perverted humor, but when he's lost in you and the sheets, he's feral. His composure becomes frayed in all the right ways when he sees your pussy flutter around his fingers, his tongue, his cock. He can't control it, and you don't want him to.
"God, please let me come again." You sink into his sheets as you arch your hips, chasing the feeling with eager and sweaty limbs. He pins you down harder, squeezing your plush skin between his palms while unraveling you. Jake's too good at this, snug amongst your soaked thighs and warm heat. Maybe he's made to live there in a land of skin and slick, forever existing between your legs.
"Yes, pretty girl. Let me feel it around me this time."
He switches positions quickly, sinking his aching tip inside of you as his wet fingers rub against your clit. He only manages a few strokes before you're losing your composure completely, clutching tightly to his shoulders with weak hands but lit-up nerve endings. His hips flex as your tongue shapes curses and half-completed moans.
"You're so perfect—ah, goddamnit—when you come. It's incredible. You're incredible." Sweat quickly paints his face as he maintains his slow but deep pace. He gains speed only once he feels his high trickling up his spine. "Where do you want it tonight, beautiful?"
You roll your eyes lazily, your head turning into the pillow from his praise. He always asks, although you both know the only correct answer. But you're so lost in him and the afterglow, you swallow the rhetorical barb on your lips and whisper, "Inside, Jaeyun. Fill me up, please? I want it all."
Jake curses once more before he ruts into you. Animalistic, choked cries erupt from deep in his diaphragm when he reaches his orgasm. He already had no composure left to speak of, but it’s as though he's finding it again by letting himself fall apart above you. Ropes of his seed coat your insides with warmth, and you think that this must be what he meant when he said "home" earlier in the car. There's nothing inside or outside of your bubble to fear when you're both so intertwined, so attached to one another in the most primal form.
You lay there together for a moment, evening the tempos of your heartbeats and pace of your breaths together. It's peace at its barest elements. The quiet of your mind feels as foreign as a new language, but Jake makes it easy to learn when he swims the uncharted waters with you.
But that's the trick with ghosts. They creep in the moment after a person believes they've bested them once and for all.
"I gotta ask you something," Jake whispers. He rubs his hands against the expanse of your back, but it's no longer soothing. The warmth you felt a mere ten minutes ago turns to ice, the calm waters transforming into a harsh current you're preparing to drown in. Jake senses the sudden rigidness of your body in the aftermath of his statement. He chuckles and pulls you in closer. "Relax, I'm not proposing to you."
You huff, quietly relieved. "Would've been an odd way to ask, anyway."
His chest rumbles with laughter. Your fear lowers to a manageable degree, but you remain on your toes. Possibilities flicker across your mind, the cryptic message capable of anything. Will he make another stink about you seeing one of his games? Does he want to risk you finally agreeing to attend one of the dumb house parties you've said no to a million times over, only for you to swat him on the arm and tell him to go to bed?
Your throat dries up in anticipation of the inevitable. After a moment, he says, "I want you to meet my parents."
You try silence to listen as Jake explains further, but you're running on half concentration and half inner turmoil. A few of his words play in a loop in your brain as you watch his lips move.
Jake's parents. Home from overseas. He wants to introduce you to them.
There were only a handful of rules established at the onset of whatever your relationship was. One of them was not to make the relationship itself intimately known amongst friends and family. Jake's teammates and your friends are aware you both are seeing each other, but that's the beginning and end of it. There's no showing off photos of each other, no bouts of PDA to make people envious or uncomfortable, and definitely no sharing of personal information.
You like it that way. It keeps the outside world from creeping in and expanding the doubts already adequately sized in your mind. You don't think you can take that reality, the one where everyone pulls their two cents together for the destruction of what little you've scrounged up with Jake, so you live in this one instead. You're at an arm's length from the entirety of him and his life, but he's still reachable. And you're still safe.
Only now, Jake is threatening that safety by wanting what's outside of your bounds, asking you to give parts of yourself you can't breach.
You pull away from him sharply, tasting alkaline metal in the back of your throat. In response, Jake's blush-painted cheeks go white. He presses both hands to either side of your face before you have time to move further away. His touch is so sweet, but it doesn't save you from getting lost in your head. "I know it's a lot, but they'd love you right away. And I—"
"What would we even say?" You interrupt him with bite, your teeth gnashing together in hard clamps. "'Hi, Mom, this is the girl from my organic chemistry class I've been fucking all semester. Dad, that's a nice tie'?"
"I wouldn't exactly put it like that," he jokes. He pushes some of your sweaty strands of hair from your face as he composes his next words. "And my dad doesn't wear ties, so we're good there."
"Jaeyun, you're missing my point!"
"I'm seeing it loud and clear, babe. I'm just saying there's nothing to worry about, especially my dad's fashion choices."
His teasing only makes your stomach sink deeper. How can you make him understand your perspective without cracking open months' worth of anxiety? You aren't officially dating, but it's been working just fine within the parameters of no labels. Why screw it up? "Yunnie, I can't. You know why."
He gulps and rubs one thumb along the apple of your cheek. He says nothing, but his brown irises and downturned lips hold all the questions in the world you can't answer. The biggest one of all nearly upends your willpower: Why can't you want more?
The problem is not that you don't. You do, so much so the desire for it could suffocate you. There's no woman on this planet who could sleep with Jake for this long and not grow fond of him. And that fondness has only grown stronger with time, time to be breathless with him by your side and time for your mind to race around thoughts of him when he wasn't there.
But you can't get lost in fantasy; you must be realistic. There will be a day he realizes you both are on two different planes of existence. You're perpendicular lines that, by some galaxy's grace, converged once and never will again.
He's Sim Jaeyun, lacrosse co-captain and statuesque head to toe. And you're you, the girl who your middle school bully nicknamed "Pudding" as she poked your stomach with a ruler. The teenager who delivered love notes to your friends from boys searching for less love handles and more sex appeal. The woman molded from pitiful pats to the chin and words of judgement caked with sugary understanding. "It's just baby fat, darling. We all get it, and it'll go away when you hit a growth spurt one day."
That day never came, and the extra tissue stayed. But, with time and effort, you grew callous to protect what remained soft inside of you.
Jake is the only person who seems to seep past the hard edges you've built without knowing any of your history, and it terrifies you. It makes you believe for a millisecond that he could make all the intrusive thoughts disappear if you'd let him.
But he can't, not when he asks for things that will never come, and definitely not when you're positive he won't care when he leaves you behind.
It doesn't make the pain on his face any easier to bear, though. It sags from defeat, and his lips turn in the pout you adore when he sees you don't want to hurt him any more than you already have by saying no. Before he can utter another word, or his expression can wound you deeper, you shut him up with something you'll regret later, a trade that feels like a death sentence. "The Hawk's Gala."
His eyes widen. "What?"
"The Hawk's Gala's this Sunday, right? After Saturday's game?" You swallow your fear like a dry pill. "I'll go with you."
Jake asked you weeks ago if you would attend the team's annual gala to celebrate the midway point of the season. One night, he mentioned it when you were too preoccupied with his cock in your mouth to give him a definitive answer. You expected him to not broach the topic again after you left him with no elaboration. But he had no room to complain after you swallowed every bit of his cum and mental energy. Unfortunately for you, he asked one more time after that, and you blew him again to make the invitation disappear from his mind.
Now, you’ve sprung the idea back on him to escape from the original conversation, but it only makes you feel worse as every pore on Jake's face lights up. "Really?"
He's like a kid sneaking a peek at his birthday present, tentative but ready to burst at the seams. You nod, not smiling but not frowning either, and the dam of his excitement breaks.
He squishes you back into bed, unaware of the terror in your eyes as he smatters kisses across your face and neck. His elation breaks your heart evenly down the middle, the hope seeping out of him souring instead of sweetening your mood. He's buzzing with the beginning of something more while you see the slow crawl to your end. The credits are rolling quickly past your eyes, the cackles and judgement ringing in your ears, and you can do nothing to stop it.
Working retail has to be one of the worst jobs you've ever had. It's monotonous to boot, the only upside being the extra money in your pocket for extra college expenses.
For all the glamour of the glitzy tops and convenience of the mall's constant markdowns, you have thought of quitting almost twice a day. Once customers see the name tag pinned to your shirt, you cease to be a person and become another goal post to the shopping bag they'll walk out of the store with.
The only bright spots have been your coworkers. Like Heeseung, who runs a tight ship as the store manager, and Sunwoo, your right-hand man when you need him to help with folding or handling rowdy teenagers.
Well, them, and the rare occurrence when Jake breaks your rules and stops by after classes to see you. It may only be ten to twenty minutes of time, most of those minutes being spent near the pretzel stand adjacent to the store, but it means more than you'd ever admit to anyone.
Today, you know it will be one of the hardest shifts of your life. Watching Wonyoung walk into the store with a random guy on Jake's team on her arm is like the knock of Death's fist on your door. You assume the poor kid is on the team from the Red Hawks letterman jacket he's wearing. The scoff that leaves your mouth is unavoidable. She couldn't be more transparent in her tactics to make her ex-boyfriend jealous when he's not even around.
Her presence makes a knot form in your throat as you finish rearranging the jeans on the display near the cash registers. What could she want in this store on this night when you're one of the few employees working the floor? Heeseung's on his half-hour lunch break while Sunwoo's been delegated to dressing room duty. You could use your walkie, call for backup and pretend the SOS is for a legitimate emergency, but then Heeseung would pry into it as your friend and superior. In short, there's no escaping the situation presented to you on a cruel, platinum-blonde platter.
When Wonyoung appears in front of you with a lacy dress in one hand and her boy candy's hand intertwined with the other, you stifle the bile crawling up your throat and paint on your best smile. "Welcome to Fatal Trouble Fabrics, what can I help you with?"
Wonyoung's own smile is more artificial than yours, saccharine yet glazed with venom. "Is XS the smallest size you guys have? I think it may be too roomy in the hips for me."
Your jaw ticks, and you tug the corner of your bottom lip between your teeth. "There's always alternative sizing options on our website. We go from XXXS to XXXL in almost all of the garments." You can hear the clinical objectivity in your voice, but it's the only way to get through the hell that is this conversation.
She's everything you're not in too many ways to tally up. She's half your weight soaking wet and effortlessly dolled up in the most natural makeup you've ever seen. Not to mention she has two years of experience with Jake to speak for that you'll never measure up to. He’s spoken about her in the rarest of times, only saying it ended badly during his second semester and he would never venture down that path with her again. His reassurance was a slight comfort, but not enough to quell the insecurities she springs out of you.
The second her eyebrow quirks up, your urge to vomit heightens. She can see she's getting to you; with the way her lips purse, she has to have some inkling. Knowing you’re going against a snake ready for the last strike against its defenseless prey, you steel yourself for whatever will come next.
She looks past you to the rack with tube tops in multiple colors. She lets go of Boy Candy's hand to rifle through the clothes, completely silent. Then, she pulls one bigger-sized article off the display before saying, "I'd love to buy this for my sister, but she's a bit chubbier than this. You know, your size."
Boy Candy can't fight the laughter that sputters past his lips. Your face twitches once, only once, but it makes your sight turn to the smallest capacity of tunnel vision you've ever known. She didn't have to go there, yet she did. You don’t have to feel the bruise of her insult, yet you do. It’s all over your posture now, and you can’t avoid it.
You grip another pair of jeans tighter in your hands. Turning to fold them, you say over your shoulder, "You should check out the website, then. It’ll have a lot more options for…easily accessible clothing, if you get what I mean."
Just as she's about to step closer to you, her plastic grin turning to a pissed-off pout, Jake saunters through the store and immediately wraps his hand around her upper arm. You know he's not hurting her, but it still makes your blood run cold seeing him in this protective mode. It's not one he's ever had to use for you, or maybe anyone, before. "Won, don't do this here. I mean it."
"Dude, you can't do that!" Boy Candy interjects with a high-pitched yell. He shrinks immediately when Jake turns in his direction, looking at the smaller and younger kid with rigid apathy.
"Kai, get lost before I tell Coach to bump you to second line just for pissing me off."
Kai raises his hands in defense and walks backwards to the store entrance, leaving Wonyoung to fend for herself. Jake goes back to staring down his ex-girlfriend, his expression on the cusp of explosion. “I’m asking you nicely to not cause a scene. Next time, I won’t.”
She huffs and yanks her arm from Jake's hold. "Whatever. Call me when you get tired of slumming it with food court trash." She looks back at you with a smirk before walking away towards Boy Candy.
You want to throw all the pairs of jeans at her until her smug face disappears from your mind. More importantly, you want to muffle the thoughts now overloading your headspace.
Please keep it together, you tell yourself when Jake puts his hand on your hip with reverence, a gesture that makes your heart swell but your breath quicken. Don't remind me I don't deserve him right now.
"Are you okay?" he asks patiently, moving his hand to run his thumb under your shirt. No coworkers or customers are around to see him be so secretly intimate with you, but you blush all the same.
You nod. "Yeah. I just wanna get through this shift,” You manage a smile, and he visibly relaxes when you affirm you’re fine. “You could've texted and said you were coming by."
"Well, it was a surprise." Jake moves away from you to take a box from his denim jacket. It's wrapped with a white bow, but he quickly unties it in order to open the packaging. "I know you said no gifts, but I wanted to give you this."
A gold necklace appears between his fingers. The rectangular pendant hanging from its center features a cutout of a bird, the negative space forming the shape of a hawk in flight.
You could cry if you weren’t awestruck by the gift’s beauty. Combing through your memory, you realize nobody has ever given you something so precious. It would be criminal to say no to it, although every basic instinct tells you not to fall for the false comfort it provides. But how could it be false when Jake looks at the jewelry like it's his own heart laid bare for you to take?
Without a word of protest, you turn and tuck your hair away from your shoulders so he can put the necklace on you. You can feel his smile without looking, and your knees buckle a touch.
Jake secures the clasp at the back of your neck. The pendant falls perfectly over your heart, shining against the store's halogen lights. His fingertips brush your nape as he moves away. He lights your skin on fire in every way, but the subsequent smile he gives you is what makes your belly ache with need. "I know you're going to look beautiful, but I couldn't have you going to this dinner without wearing something…symbolic."
"Symbolic, huh?" You smirk, feigning confidence, but you feel as vulnerable as he does when you ask it.
"Yeah, I think so." He runs his hand across your waist again, like he wants to pull you closer and harder against him. "If it wasn't unprofessional of you to make out with a customer, I'd have kissed you already."
You giggle, your smile beaming. "I don't think anyone's around to stop you, Sim."
He mumbles a "Fuck it" before attaching his mouth to yours, warming you to the bones slowly. You smile into his kiss and let it wash away the pain. For a moment, you think you might come out of the dinner in a few days without issue. As long as he never leaves your side, you think you can do it. Maybe.
Your fingers were tentative against the bruise marring Jake's shoulder blade. Tinted a shade deeper than his normal skintone but visibly lighter at the edges, the bruise will fade in another few days. You know this from asking him a few hours ago how it happened. "From practice, it's fine—just let me touch you, please," he had said in haste to pull you closer and take your clothes off.
Now, you tread across it gently as you sit shoulder-to-shoulder with him, covers pulled up to your chest to cover your naked skin.
"Broken blood vessels cause the bruise itself," he says. "It can take up to two weeks for the body to break down the buildup of blood, depending on the level of injury." He runs his bottom lip along your forehead, and you shiver against him, making him chuckle. "You could try listening, you know. I'm giving you important medical information here!"
You laugh into his neck, playing with the ends of his hair. "I am! Just didn't expect you to know so much about the anatomy of a bruise when your degree is for veterinary medicine."
He shrugs, suddenly bashful. For all the talk of Jake around campus as a beast on the field, he's incredibly intelligent. One class was enough for you to see how engaged he was with his studies, more than just some jock you knew by name only. He always asked questions, took diligent notes, and collaborated in discussions without dominating the conversation. In truth, it was a shock that he asked to exchange lecture notes with you over coffee two months ago.
"You're one of the only people who jots down everything Mr. Choi says!" You tried not to sound rude when responding to his proposition, but you were unsure what exactly he wanted from you in the first place. Especially when he was the equivalent of a movie starlet and you…well…
He just smiled and said, "Well, it was kinda hard to do that today when I spent half of his presentation staring at you."
You shake away your bout of reminiscing, coming back to Earth to hear Jake's breakdown of bruises for dummies. He rolls his eyes dramatically after you apologize for losing your train of focus. "Anyway, that's why bruises can be hot to the touch. It's also why they change color little by little as the blood is broken down.
"From black and blue…" Jake presses a kiss to the spot between your eyebrows. He drags his mouth across your face with every pause he takes between speaking. "…to brown…sometimes green and yellow…"
His lips on your neck make you tremble once again under his touch. Your body acts as though he didn't already spread it out for the taking a mere half hour ago.
"…and then back to its normal color," he murmurs before another tantalizing kiss lands on your lips. You stifle a moan, but a partial sound squeaks out anyway that turns your cheeks a rosy hue. "Good as new."
"Now who's losing focus, huh," you jest.
"I think I'm doing just fine in that department, pretty girl."
The edges of your mouth turn up before you press your mouth to his wounded skin. His body feels all kinds of warm against your lips. He groans unabashedly, his own gooseflesh perking up on his arms and neck from your attention. You giggle like a teenager, vulnerable in a way that isn't sounding off alarm bells in your brain.
He's the beginning, middle, and end of safety, every emotion stirred up in your heart cared for with his gentle hands.
"Who needs the body's healing process when you can just kiss it better?" he teases before pinning you between his body and his bedsheets.
You scoff playfully. "Do those lines work with all the girls?"
He pokes his tongue at you before booping your nose with his index finger. "Hopefully just one, the only one that matters."
You think Jake may be your own personal bruise, an unexpected force that's affected every inch of your body. But you don't want him to fade, not now and not ever.
You wake from your dream to the sound of your phone's text alert. Jake's contact photo lights up your phone, but what catches your attention the most is the time on your homescreen. "Fuck," you mutter before leaping from bed. Your hands make quick work of rifling through your closet as a million more curses leave your lips.
You thought a quick hour nap before getting ready would quell your anxieties about the gala in question finally coming around the corner. Unfortunately, your anxieties also made you forget to set a damn alarm, and thus left you with only an hour and a half to get ready.
And the brutality of your nerves smacks you in the face as you scroll through Jake's messages.
J 🤍 [04:15]: Hey, pretty girl. Just in case you forgot and want to coordinate, I'll be wearing red ;)
J 🤍 [04:18]: Well, a red letterman jacket and a dress shirt. But red!
J 🤍 [05:05]: Ok, a bit worried you haven't responded, but I don't want you freaking out about anything. You could walk in wearing a sack and you'd be gorgeous like you always are…
J 🤍 [05:07]: I mean, don't come in a sack if you think that's too basic, but I'll love whatever you wear. Text me when you're on your way.
J 🤍 [05:59]: Is everything okay?
"Damnit," you say before typing a quick response back to him that you're okay despite oversleeping. You end the text with a winking emoji and a heart that will ease his worries.
If only the little pixels could assuage yours.
The pit in your stomach from this morning was the size of a golf ball, manageable until you needed to sleep to take your mind off of its presence. Now, it's the size of a dinner plate pressing down on your ribcage with each and every dress you put on. They all fail to impress you, none of them doing the work of making your burdens disappear. One burgundy dress that falls to the middle of your thighs is passable, but you still want to punch a hole through the mirror hanging on your bathroom door when you see your reflection.
Even as you run heaps of makeup across your face and curl your hair, you feel like a clown that's missing the best parts of their costume. In the next second, you swipe too much lipstick on your upper lip and let out the wail of a wounded animal. It's ragged and spent, tattered from all sides.
At that moment, the first truth becomes an unmistakable blow to the stomach: every pretty garment and expensive cosmetic in the world won't keep you from embarrassing Jake. You will stick out like a sore thumb at that dinner, a stain over the picture-perfect moment he could have if you stay out of sight and mind.
In the next moment, the second truth appears: you won't be leaving your apartment tonight. You set the lipstick tube down on your desk and try not to dry heave, waddling back to your bed to disappear under the covers.
You'll break his heart for breaking your promise, but all you can do is hope he'll allow you to mend it. Maybe some part of him will understand there's a valid reason you missed it, one you cannot verbalize, but he recognizes under the layers of pretty words you'll use. That will be better than knowing the entirety of your excuse for blowing him off.
You don't bother wiping off the wreck you've made of your face or discarding the dress in the heap of clothes you've made on the floor. You toss and turn under the comforter, tears streaming down your face and hands clutching your necklace as the sun sets. Hearing the sounds of the outside world greeting dusk, you feel half your size but steel yourself to sleep with the knowledge it's better this way. It has to be.
Jake has tried to be patient.
He knows he could not have been more reasonable and nonjudgemental as he watches your chest rise and fall in your sleep. Your figure in the throes of your slumber is so beautiful, especially when your fingers remain wrapped around the pendant at your throat. He swears to himself he could fall in love with you all over again tonight if he wasn't so disappointed and pissed off. And with those emotions too present in his gut to avoid, he knows you've worn his patience down to the quick.
He waited for a half-hour outside of the restaurant for you to show, biting the skin around his nails as each minute passed by with your face nowhere in sight. Texts went unresponded to, calls unanswered, even video chat requests went through dead air. He had half a mind to run away from the venue to make sure you hadn't slipped in the shower or something far more dangerous kept you from meeting him.
Throughout the entire dinner, he brushed the concerned questions from his teammates off and said you fell too ill to make it. The guys said nothing and continued on with the engagement, but Jake remained rattled through the rest of the night. When he said his goodbyes, he felt a small semblance of relief, because that meant he could drive straight to you for the answers he desperately sought.
He didn't expect to find you passed out. You usually greet him at the door with eager arms and peckish lips, but you were too fatigued and lost in sleep to hear him unlocking your front door and stepping inside. He was also floored to find your apartment in ruins, the place akin to a bomb going off in all directions that gave no clues as to what happened to you. So, all he could do was sit at your bedside and watch you, your eyelids and body twitching as you dreamed.
Jake's been patient long enough, more than understanding for you, the girl he loves, but now he needs some sense of direction that only you can provide.
Jake runs his thumb over the lipstick smudge on your cupid's bow, and he curses himself when your eyes flutter open. You look peaceful for a moment as you wake up, but your irises immediately flood with fear at Jake's presence and the darkness surrounding you both. "What time is it?" you ask.
"One on the dot," he responds. "I used the spare key in the plant pot by your door."
You rub your face and rise, shame flooding every part of your body. You ran through the cycle of chastising yourself and swearing you were doing the right thing a thousand times over before you passed out, but facing Jake is a new breed of raw. His hurt is palpable, especially in the quiet cold of the night. It pierces you long and hard when he asks, "What happened?"
You mumble, "Nothing looked nice enough to go out in." You shrug, balling the fabric of your dress between your fists. "And I couldn't come out and meet everyone like this."
"I think this looks just fine," he says with an incredulous expression, still tainted with pain but newly inscribed with wholehearted empathy. "Better than that, actually."
Jake's hand comes to meet the side of your neck, brushing the gold necklace along your nape, and you bite down on your lip hard to fight the swell of emotion crawling up your throat. "I need you to talk to me," he whispers as you taste blood in your mouth.
You step away from him to grab your hamper, pawing at the heaps of clothing on your floor with trembling hands. If you can't control the conversation, the least you can do is make your house less of a war-zone. Anything is better than facing Jake head-on right now. "There's nothing to say besides that I didn't come and I'm sorry, I really am." You look at him directly in the eyes, forcing some confidence to rise to the surface. "Can we please just drop it?"
He scoffs at your question. "You stand me up, refuse to give me a valid explanation why, and think it's okay to ask me to drop it?" He makes you stop grabbing clothes from the floor by clutching both of your shoulders in his palms. "What is going on with you?"
You shake your head so fast it makes you dizzy. "I can't do this, Jaeyun. Please."
"Baby, I just need help understanding this, 'cause I'm so fucking confused right now." His arms run up your skin to rest on your face. "Is this about what happened the other day with Wonyoung?"
"Partly," you admit. You walk away from his touch again, but he follows behind you as you move around your small apartment. When you've done enough tidying up, you throw the hamper to one side by your bed, unbothered if the mess of clean clothes is now mixed with your dirty laundry. "How about I tell you how the night would have played out if I did show up? Your friends would've looked at me like a zoo attraction but tried to keep the peace by making small talk that means fuck-all to anyone. And no matter how polite or funny I was, they would've thought to themselves or said to their girlfriends by the end of the night that you're fucking insane for spending time with…"
The silence is impenetrable, charged with words you can't say but you hope Jake can make sense of without needing verbalization.
His face morphs in the quiet, seething.
"With what?" Jake invades your space, his quiet voice and stoic face chilling you to the bone. You lose all sense of courage to continue, but he quirks an eyebrow up as his eyes darken. "Finish the fucking sentence. With what?"
You swallow hard, terrified to say the words rattling around in your brain. You settle on something simple, but the two letters feel anything but. "Me."
The tears slide down your cheeks like knives, cutting you open for Jake to see. This is the moment that you've been dreading since the second he made a home in your heart. It won't go back to the way it was before, before every insecurity was laid bare.
"I'm fucking disgusting, Jake," you mutter with despair. "It's a miracle I've gotten past being terrified of you seeing me naked, but everyone in your life knowing that we're together would be too much because it's obvious that—" You choke on the words, the tears now coating your throat like poison. "I'm not meant for you, and you should be going out with someone like your ex, someone who's beautiful by every standard known to man." You laugh sadly. "Or maybe someone who meets even half of that criteria. But not—"
"Fuck you." He slams his letterman jacket down on the desk. A mixture of your makeup falls on the floor when the jacket meets the wood slab, but you barely hear the crack of your compacts or tubes of lipstick on the laminate tile. You're too focused on Jake's appalled and betrayed face to notice anything but him. "You have no right telling me who I'm supposed to be with, who I should want, who to love. That's nobody's business but mine. And you must think somewhat highly of yourself to think you can control that. Screw my friends' opinions or anyone else's."
"It should! They matter to you."
"You matter more, more than anyone!"
He inhales a sharp breath as his eyes water. You thought his pouts broke your heart before, but seeing him worn down like this is true heartbreak. He's broken from how broken you are, and you wish you had the power to stitch him back together. Clearly, you've made a bigger mess than you intended to, and now there's no going back.
Jake takes a few short, tear-stricken breaths before saying, "Fuck I—I love you, okay? I love you so much that all of the criticism in the world is background noise when I look at you. You're the one person, the only person I've ever known, who makes time stop for me and my problems matter less. And you're so gorgeous I can't think straight sometimes." A hollow laugh escapes him, but you can't react to it properly. Not when you're crying as hard as he is.
"I wish you could see yourself how I see you, so much it kills me, but I can't do that for you. You have to see that for yourself."
You're stunned into complete silence, your heart denying his confession as your brain computes he's walking closer to the door, prepared to leave before you can find an adequate response. You don't find one in time as he turns the knob and prepares to leave.
Before he can, he says with a somber lilt to his tone, "I hope whoever gets to see the version of you who loves herself as much as I do knows they're lucky. Because that girl will be invincible."
The slam of your door is a gunshot, piercing your chest and staining your dress a darker shade of burgundy. You manage to grip Jake's jacket between your hands and hold it close, the only thing keeping your shattered heart held together being his scent on the fabric. What could you have said to keep him, to make him stay? How could you tell him you love him too despite all the disdain you hold for yourself being what drove him away in the first place?
Your cries converge with piercing screams, rubbing your voice raw until there's nothing else to do but continue sobbing silently in a ball on the floor with his jacket as your lifeline.
The last week has been hell, to say the least.
You didn't try reaching out to Jake the next morning when you woke up. You were too hollow, too shaken. At the same time, the last words he said filled you with a sensitivity you could not find words for, and trying to pretend that didn't happen would be disrespectful to both of you.
And, to make it worse, there was no outreach on his end. He didn't show up to class on Monday or Wednesday, and there were no messages or calls from him to springboard off of. What else could you do besides leave him be? Why else would he walk away from you the way he did, spent and out of chances to give, if he didn't want to be left alone?
Hours rolled into days of silence, both parties unsure how to break the now insurmountable block of ice. You felt like a coward with every passing day, missing him desperately in spite of your lack of words. The newfound hole in your chest, inscribed with Jake's name, could only be filled by him, and it grew wider while you waited for the day he'd return or for you to find the strength to undo the pain you caused.
You sweep the store floor with your aching heart, eager to end your Sunday shift in an hour and sink into bed once again. Without Jake, your routine has been heading to work or school, running home to eat takeout, streaming a movie to cry to, and passing out. It's not that dissimilar from the habits you had before he came into your life, but it's even more soul-crushing knowing the before and after of his presence is starkly different.
Just as you walk over to the counter to grab your dustpan to collect the dust, Felix and Vernon appear like phantoms near the register.
"Jesus Christ!" You immediately stick your broom in the space between you and the two men, and their eyes widen at your defensive stance. "How the fuck did you get in the store? We closed ten minutes ago."
"We bribed some blonde kid to let us in," Vernon responds, rubbing the back of his shaved head with a sweaty palm. Although he still looks surprised you're using a cleaning tool as a weapon, his voice is deadpan.
"Fucking Sunwoo," you mutter under your breath. "Listen, you guys might be great with lacrosse sticks, but I'm even better with this broom." You waggle it to prove your point. "So, you should get the fuck out before I knock one of you on the head."
"Please, just hear us out," Felix starts. His deep voice, thicker than his counterpart or even Jake's, stuns you. "J is miserable without you."
"Yeah," Vernon confirms. "He had to sit out of the game yesterday."
You're surprised your heart can still beat after being so perfectly decimated a week ago, but it breaks once again hearing about Jake's disposition. "The feeling's mutual."
"Okay. Then talk to him and say you're sorry, simple." Felix gives you a close-lipped smile, but it seems more forced than friendly.
Your brows furrow as your hand raises up to clutch the pendant close to your heart. "He's the one that left me."
"After you stood him up," Vernon interjects, pointing a finger out. Your lack of a response makes Vernon huff out an exasperated breath of air. Before he can say anything else, Felix cuts him off.
"We shouldn't have come, this is clearly pointless."
"Oh really?" You clench your fist around the broom, the curved plastic biting into your skin.
Felix's lips mold into a deep frown, hurt rather than anger coating every feature on his face. "You made judgements about us before we even got a chance to meet you—"
"Yeah! That's pretty fucked up, by the way. We wouldn't fat-shame you. We like curvy girls!" Vernon defends himself, and Felix fights the urge to smack his older friend upside the head.
"Thanks," you respond. The word on your lips is more of a question than a statement, but you appreciate Vernon's sentiment.
"And yet you were worried we would look at you a certain way," Felix continues.
"Is that so surprising?" you justify, eyes on the verge of watering.
Felix nods before responding with, "Because the things you were so worried about were built up in your own head. It wasn't Jake's or anyone else's doing."
You bite your bottom lip, unable to deny his declarations, but offended. "Tell that to Wonyoung."
"Won's a bitch to almost everyone. She doesn't count," Vernon counters, and Felix can't help but laugh a little and nod.
Felix turns serious again. "Jake loves you no matter what you think others see when they look at you, and if that isn't apparent by now, you're not the person he told us so much about."
Felix walks towards the entrance, and Vernon leaves you with some ultimate words of advice before following his teammate out. "Just…talk to him, please."
You feel like a kid with a stomachache, scolded for eating too much candy and expecting a different result. In a way, your reactions have been admittedly childish, despite every good intention you had keeping Jake on the outskirts of your worst self-critical thoughts. But maybe he wouldn't have shied away from you that night if you had been honest from the beginning about the fears you had beginning a relationship with him. Maybe you would have survived it, perhaps even thrived despite all the monsters insisting you two weren't fit for each other.
But that was the past. Now was undetermined, and maybe it could still turn in your favor.
Sunwoo steps into view after the two guys exit the store. Your eyes burn with ire for your younger coworker, but he raises his hands immediately and says, "I need a new hard drive, and they gave me twenty bucks!"
You let go of the irritation directed at Sunwoo and finally make work of picking up the dust from the floor. If anything, it reminds you of all that still needs fixing, especially between you and the boy you can't forget.
But it's all down to you, and whether you can put in the effort to dispel your own demons once and for all.
You begin healing.
On Monday morning, twelve-ish hours after seeing Felix and Vernon at work, you skip class and head to the university's counseling center. It's two hours of intake forms and appointment setting, but it makes all the difference in the world walking out of that office a few pounds metaphorically lighter.
You talk to Jungwon and Sunwoo in a coffee shop off-campus and unload the fears that have plagued you your entire life, their voices of reassurance being the first ones you've ever heard that allow the tears to lessen and the reality of your situation to settle on your body like a warm blanket.
"You're a human with anxieties," Jungwon says as Sunwoo rubs your back in circles. "You need support like any other person. It's not right to go through it alone."
And you don't. You sit with them through lunch and dinner, drinking coffee and acknowledging your mindset needs to change.
When your head hits the pillow that night, you go to sleep with the comfort of knowing you're taking the first steps to a version of you that's better.
Wednesday, you prepare to talk to Jake. You have the words picked out perfectly in your head, recognition of your mistakes and willingness to change littered throughout. Only he never shows, and your heart sinks. He certainly can pass without a few days of attendance, but if he's putting this much effort into avoiding you, is it too late?
Was this your penance, having figured everything out after getting it so irrevocably wrong?
The answer to the question comes in the form of a sweaty Felix on the cusp of dusk. He grabs your shoulder just before you can get into your car, the day's fatigue and sadness weighing down your bones.
"J's meeting his parents tomorrow for dinner at the Italian place across from the field," Felix says through ragged breaths. "He better look like a dog with a bone when I see him on Friday at practice or I will kick your ass personally, girl or not."
You chuckle, tears lining your eye ducts. "Thank you. Really."
"Yeah. Thank me after you talk to him. He loves you but you know as well as I do that he's a stubborn fucker sometimes." He gives a last nod for good luck before running in the opposite direction.
You park in front of the restaurant with two bouquets in hand and your anxiety shot to hell. Nerves entrench your body from head to toe as you walk into the place, too busy with the flowers to bite your nails.
Before, you would pick out everyone else's clothes and physiques compared to yours like a ruthless guessing game, the only players being you and your harshest critics. Do I look as hideous as I feel? Can everyone tell? Now, that's the furthest thing from your mind. All you care to do now is fix what you've damaged.
"Welcome to Maggiano's," the perky hostess says as you walk closer to the podium. "How can I help you?"
"I'm meeting a party of three. S-Sim should be the last name on the reservation." You stutter over your words. You're unable to see Jake or his parents in the sea of crowded tables under dimmed chandelier lighting, and it throws your confidence off even more.
She directs you to their table, a corner booth off of the kitchen, and you will yourself to make the trek over to them with the last of your strength. Jake's gaze remains focused on his parents, and it's a small kindness that you don't need to face him just yet.
His parents notice you first, and they smile kindly at you. "Hello there," the woman you assume to be Jake's mother says, eyes crinkling with a smile that is all too familiar.
Jake turns to meet the subject of his mother's attention, and a million emotions flash across his eyes like shooting stars when he sees you, brief but telling. Only pain remains when the surprise wears off, and you wish his face held any other emotion but the one you know so personally.
You smile at his parents politely. "I'm Jake's girlfriend. I apologize for being late, but I was busy grabbing these." You hand one bouquet to his mother, her face lighting up at the peonies wrapped in pink tissue paper. You give Jake his own set of flowers, yellow marigolds. "For tomorrow's game. The florist said they represent good luck, not that you need it."
"Thank you," he whispers, his voice hoarse but cheeks immediately flushing pink. He turns to his parents, the couple still surprised and happy to see you. You can only wonder what Jake has told them about you, but Jake cuts your wondering short when says, "Can you guys give us a minute to talk?"
His hand in yours as he pulls you away feels too right, too easy to fall back into. A thousand memories cross your mind as you recognize this may be the last time his skin touches yours. Sleeping in and missing class as the sun rose high in the sky. Nights after practices where you couldn't remember your name unless Jake was saying it in sighs and curses. And the last ones where you were the source of his disappointment.
Can the good outweigh the bad at this point? You can only hope so.
When you're a respectful distance away from the table, Jake stands in front of you with his hands nestled in his pockets. You can see him fumbling with his thumbs under the cloth, a telltale sign of nerves he doesn't want to show. "What are you doing here?"
You swallow heavy air, your gut tightening. "I came to apologize. I should have told you from the beginning that there were these terrible opinions of myself and my body image. And keeping them from you didn't stop them from coming, but I should've given you more credit. You never made me feel like I was unworthy of being with you. That was all me."
He nods, sadness tugging the edges of his lips down. "I know."
"I'm actually turning things around, believe it or not." You laugh, the sound filled with promise rather than desolation. "And it helped me to realize now that living behind a wall I thought kept me safe did nothing but hurt you, the only person I've ever loved, and I'm so sorry."
His face perks up hearing the last few words on your lips. You clutch the pendant on your neck for strength, and his face softens at the realization you're still wearing it. You never stopped.
"I love you," you confess, "the guy who fidgets with everything at his desk when he's bored, and even when he's not. I love you because it's heart-stoppingly cute when you talk about the atomic makeup of random objects just for fun. Because you're an incredible friend, a beautiful person, and someone I want to keep getting the privilege of knowing. You saw and loved me, past all the reasons I found to hate myself." Your words fall apart by the end, voice fragmented from vulnerability, but you continue. "And you may not be in love with me anymore, but you deserve to know that you are loved by me still, and I'm thankful I had the chance to—"
You don't recognize Jake is kissing you until he places both his quivering hands on your face, the brush of his lips on yours being everything necessary to heal the hole in your heart. It's so unexpected, but essential for you to breathe again. Jake kisses you like he knows it too, like he feels the same ache inside of him that needs repairing with your help.
Tears run down your face until you taste saltwater on your tongue, but you don't care. You refuse to waste another second without him. Home is here with him, with all of your ghosts revealed.
Jake pulls away softly. "I missed that," you confess against his lips, water still trickling down your face.
"Me too," he affirms, his own wet lids reflecting in the lights of the chandeliers. "I love you."
You giggle, relief flooding your body. It's cool water over parched earth, saving a being close to the brink of ruin. "I love you more."
Jake laughs too, shaking his head like you've said the silliest words known to humankind. "Not possible." He tucks his hand under your chin before kissing you again, his lips the only salvation you'll ever need.
His dad whistles at the two of you, and Jake begrudgingly lets go of your face. "Lovebirds, we need to put in our order!" he yells from across the restaurant, and almost everyone in the room laughs. You can't fight it, laughing too into Jake's suit jacket as he holds you close.
Tonight, you don't mind the spotlight, especially with Jake nearby.
The ride back to your apartment is so long it feels like you're suffocating with every minute that remains of your ETA. You try abiding by the traffic laws and staying in your lane, but you may die if another stoplight keeps you from taking Jake home. "Patience," Jake murmurs with a smirk, rubbing small circles into your outer thigh.
"Coming from you, that's ironic." You squeeze your thighs together for friction, and Jake chuckles to himself. It's unsurprising the way your body reacts to him and his words, both charged with electric currents you've gone without for too long.
The way up to your apartment is tense, only for the fact you're trying to listen to his earlier warning of patience and not pounce on him the second you both walk through the doorway. He sets the marigolds on your kitchen counter with a shit-eating grin, one that makes it even harder to maintain composure. "Beautiful flowers from a beautiful girl. How did I get so lucky?" He pulls you in, the notes of lavender and sage from his cologne tickling you to the core.
"It helps that you're beautiful also." You hide your face in his broad chest, your necklace rustling against his dress shirt. "Thank you," you whisper into his clothes.
"For what?" He rubs your back soothingly, the responding words easy to release when he's holding you so delicately.
"Not giving up on me when you had every reason to."
"I could never," he admits. He pulls your face away from his shirt to run his fingers across your cheek, adoring you with the simplest touch. "Just wanted to make you squirm a little longer."
You mock offense with a hand to your chest. Jake chuckles and kisses the corner of your mouth. "So mean," you taunt.
"You haven't seen mean, pretty girl." Jake brushes your hair away to kiss the nape of your neck, making you shiver. Trailing his lips down to your shoulder blade, he bites down on the curve of it to elicit a yelp from you. He eagerly swallows the sound with his lips, tongue entering your mouth without protest from you.
Jake knows all the ways to make you acquiesce, to fall deeper into him without thinking of looking back up. He makes you want to live in his touch like a second skin, and it's clear he feels the same when he holds you tight against his body.
Jake's thigh rubs your core through the front of your dress, and you whimper against his lips. He moves you both to the bed, slowly undressing you with reverence and soft kisses to each piece of newly revealed skin.
Once you're naked, save for your underwear, he sits up on his knees to admire the view. You don't shy away or cover yourself, too restless to touch and be touched to feel timid. And there are still too many clothes on him.
You tsk. "Not fair," you mumble, but you make quirk work of unbuttoning his shirt and pants with keen hands. You kiss the pulse point at his neck, his chest, and the tuft of hair below his belly button. By the time you're done, his flush cock poking your thigh and your cunt pulsing with need, you're both shaking with desperation.
"Sit on my face, pretty girl," he whispers.
You giggle, breathless and dazed. "What?"
"You heard me. I've been without this pretty pussy for too long," he emphasizes his point by moving your panties to the side and running his finger through the wetness along your folds. You're already breaking, and he treasures that. "I want to show her how much I missed her."
You both get comfortable, you positioning your legs on either side of his head and Jake running his hands along the outside of your thighs. You hover above his lips, scared to truly suffocate him between your skin, but he immediately slams you down onto his chin and makes work of lapping at your cunt.
His whimpers and whines match yours, his nose bumping your clit with every drag of his tongue along your core. It's like he's never tasted it before, the way he's lapping so vigorously. A starved man waiting for his last meal, so desperate yet so giving. Jake runs his tongue around your hole before sinking it inside, his eyes rolling back at the essence gathering on his tongue.
"Fuck, so sweet," he gasps, "My beautiful girl's dripping down my chin. I love the way you taste, you know that? You're amazing."
You nod, moaning wantonly, without true acknowledgement of his words. He retracts his lips from your cunt, and you whimper at the loss. "Say it, beautiful. I want to hear you say how amazing you are."
Jake teases his tongue along your wet walls again, and you buckle down against his face, riding it harder. "I-I'm—oh shit mmph—I'm amazing."
He hums in pleased agreement. He goes faster, bumping your clit with every quick lick and suck. You thrash with the encroaching release your body ardently craves. It wraps around you with each press of his mouth and tongue, and you want to let him take you to the precipice. "I know you're close, beautiful," he whispers into your mound, drunk on the feeling of your body at his mercy. "Be my good girl and come all over my face."
You do as you're told, crying out as your orgasm takes over your senses, endorphins washing over you in expansive ripples. You ride it out until the waves calm to a steady sea, your body wholly and utterly boneless. "Ah, fuck," you breathe out once you come down.
Jake repositions you so you're resting in his lap, his aching cock leaking pre-cum at the sight of your essence soaking your thighs. He presses kisses all over your face, not bothered by the sweat coating your forehead and cheeks. "So beautiful."
You flush, glowing under his praise. Without warning, he sheathes himself fully inside of you, your wetness making the glide effortless. There is still some give, your walls clenching around him as he slides in like he's finally back where he belongs.
"Oh fuck. You're so tight, every time." His head bumps the headboard as your pelvic bones brush, his hips flush with yours when he sinks you further down his cock. "I've missed this—fuck, missed you—so much."
"Me too, Yunnie. So much." Your body bows, taking him in completely without complaint.
"Think I'd die if I didn't get to feel you wrapped around me again," he babbles, lost in the feeling of your velvety walls encasing him. They flutter around him as you begin riding him, your movements slow but calculated to induce tremors. And he feels it, every touch of your hips against his, your slick thighs against him with each time he bottoms out. It's hedonistic heaven, a serene oasis he wants to drown in.
He groans into your chest before sucking one of your nipples into his mouth. You keen, arching your back into him deeper as you slam your hips down onto him. "Bounce on me, baby," he says, releasing your nipple with a pop before teasing the other one with his tongue. "Show me how much you've missed me."
Under his spell, you cater to Jake's every whim, rocking against him harder and grinding faster to push him closer to his release. He bites down on your collarbones to muffle his cries, the pleasure overloading his senses to the point he needs to occupy his mouth and hands with something else. He kneads your breasts as he sucks and licks the skin of your upper chest with care when it blooms a dark color under his lips. "So perfect, and all mine," he mumbles, rutting underneath you, creating stars when you close your eyelids.
"Fuck, Jaeyun, I'm gonna come again," you mewl.
"Me too, pretty girl. Come with me."
You fall together in pieces, the beautiful parts of both of you intermeshing until you're one again. Jake groans as his semen fills you with warmth, ropes of cum spurting out until you feel both of your releases seeping down your legs in droplets.
It's happiness, a passion so pure shared between two people sheltered from the outside world with their intensity.
It's perfection, the way Jake loves you so well. All you can do now is pray he knows you love him just as much, if not more.
Jake wraps himself around you, encasing you tightly after you exit his lap. Your thighs burn, your skin is sweaty, but you feel lit up from within Jake's arms.
"You look happy," Jake says finally with a dopey grin, chest rising and falling.
Once upon a time, you would've brushed his words off with a quick kiss and witty comeback to hide your denial. Now, you don't deflect. You take him and his words with acceptance, knowing for the first time that his words go beyond the surface, their truth undeniable.
"I am."
This time, you step out of the car.
You nod at the respective girls waiting for their boyfriends as you rest against the passenger side door of your car. Your clothes aren't as revealing as theirs, but that's okay; someday you will be ready to be as confident as them, but the first step was exiting the driver's side. "Progress," as Felix would say with a teasing smirk and elbow to your side.
The girls all smile and acknowledge you, but Winter, Felix's girlfriend, waves back with a jovial energy that makes you wave back. Your heart swells thinking about how close you've gotten to Jake's friend group in only two months, even when you believed you would be shamed or outcasted for your appearance. Sometimes, you kick yourself for believing they would repeat the history of taunts and teases you know too well. Building armor was necessary years ago, but now, you can disarm without fear of judgement.
Sure, people like Wonyoung will continue to exist, and the doubts will always fester somewhere in your head like unpickable weeds. But you can dispel both with self-affirming words and kindness now, no longer weak to the worst skeletons in your closet. You're stronger, for both yourself and the boy you love.
There's not a lot of certainties in life, but one promise you can keep without fail is never coming so close to losing Jake again.
Like clockwork, Jake and your mutual friends walk off of the field with their gym bags in tow and sweat drenching them head to toe. Felix's newly dyed red hair is practically the same color as their practice gear, and you chuckle at the sight.
Hearing your voice, Jake's eyes lock on yours. He rifles the stray bangs from his eyes almost to confirm it's you waiting for him and not an apparition. His ensuing grin is so bright it can put the moon to shame, as usual.
"Whoa, guys," Jake says with a flourish, raising both of his arms to stop his friends from moving further across the parking lot to their significant others. You roll your eyes as you smile, shy for all the right reasons. "That's my girlfriend, right? Or am I seeing things?"
"Can you not be so down bad for her in front of us, Sim? It's gross," Felix teases, but he smiles in your direction when you wave to the guys surrounding your boyfriend.
"Whatever, cherry bomb. Tell Winter I said to go easy on the Splat next time." Jake slaps his friend on the shoulder before running towards you, his gym bag swinging in all directions while strapped to his shoulder. His teammates holler at their captain for his eagerness to be next to you, but neither of you care.
You both may be out of the shadows, but you still feel like the only two people in the world when you're with each other, onlookers and inner critics be damned.
"Hi." Jake says when he makes it to you, his body a few feet from yours. He drops his bag at his side before intertwining your fingers together, his hot and moist palms making a home in your cold ones. "You look beautiful."
"You look sweaty." Before Jake can compose a rebuttal, you slam your lips into his, teeth clashing as your tongues meet. Jake kisses you back earnestly, sounds of pleasure muffled against your mouth. He rests his hands on your hips as your fingers weave through his hair, scratching your nails along his scalp. His lips taste like salted caramel and fatigue and home, and it makes you fall in love for the thousandth time. "But I'm still into that," you say with a grin when you pull away.
"Oh, really?" His smirk reminds you of all of his kisses, his touches, and his love that has brought you here. And today, for the first time in a long while, there's no fear at all. No doubt creeping in to keep you on guard or tell you the happiness is temporary.
hi, luvdolls ! my moots (ourhees, bywons & flwrstqr) made important posts about the fact that a youtube channel was taking people’s work as their own. @.veauyves has been plagiarizing people, including me, for months now without shame.
here are the few works they took from me as their own.
LET ME LOVE YOU | STOLED VERSION
ONE MORE KISS | STOLEN VERSION
FEEL THE BITE | STOLEN VERSION
HAIRCUT | STOLEN VERSION
MIDAS TOUCH | STOLEN VERSION
MY KIND OF WOMAN | STOLEN VERSION
now, it has happened before and it will probably happen again in the future. but i can’t say this enough — nothing will ever be lower than plagiarism.
writers work hard to create their own stuff, they spend hours working hard to provide pieces that are you good and will make people happy. taking others’ work will never be a good thing, no matter how quick and short the said work is.
it is a shame to take people’s work, copying it word for word and have the immense audacity to post it as your own. this person has already done this before, they got called out so many times but never understood their mistakes or took their accounts down.
honestly, the best we can do is report them and give actual support to the writers who got plagiarized. please, reblog this for more people to see and check if any of their works got taken as well.
genres: fluff to angst (sorray 😣) word count: 2.7k+
warnings: hand holding. there’s like one kiss. slight forbidden love. crying. arguing. reader has second thoughts about the relationship. reader forgets anniversary. break up. let me know if i’m missing any!
mentions: enhypen members specifically jungwon, jake, and sunoo. bang pd. heeseung’s cover of ‘off my face’.
author’s note: a little something to keep your waiting interesting 🥹 this is something i’ve written a long awhile ago; i changed a few things but nonetheless, i hope you enjoy! i apologize in advance but i promise (no promises) it isn’t that… bad 🫂 this was proofread like one time only!!!
“ (now all becomes clear) one in a billion… “ his voice smoothly carries out the final performance of enhypen’s comeback show. there’s a stupid smile on his face as he sees jake make his way to him.
“ dude! that was amazing! " he snickered at the compliment, rushing out back after thanking jake. his members shared a few confused glances at how quick he left but to him, there was only one reason why and it was for you.
as soon as the door separating the stage and backroom opened, your eyes light up when you saw his slightly sweaty silver hair and the genuine smile plastered on his face. your heart raced and you almost run into his arms but you realize the setting you both were in, better to not risk it.
you mentally sigh to yourself before calling out to him “ heeseung! let’s get you all cooled down “ you say, flashing him a small smile as he makes his way to you. he gathers himself up, thanking you as he sits in the chair in front of you. he takes hold of your hand, his thumb making small circular motions on your palm.
he opens his mouth to finally speak but the sound of the door creaking meant the members and staff were nearby. immediately he let go of your hand and the lingering excitement he had; a sulking expression now on his face because he so badly wanted your opinion on his improvised high note.
loud chatter filled the room and the small moment that could’ve been something, disappeared.
。・:*˚:✧。
this became a new routine for you. what is it that makes having an idol boyfriend so hard? well for one, you’re his hair stylist.
it’s been about a few months since you landed the job and the idea of almost getting caught and sneaking around with him makes it even more worthwhile. you get to sneak small pecks on his forehead, hold his hand time to time, and sometimes even feed him a few snacks when no one’s looking. yeah, definitely worthwhile.
the boys had finished another round of rehearsals for tomorrow, it’s been a busy month since their comeback. you slowly make your way to heeseung, bringing along the small electric fan to help him.
“ here, this will probably be better than the thin paper you just folded. “ you glanced over at him when you realize his hand was already on yours, eyes stuck on each other.
his eyes sparkled and you didn’t know if you could ever look away. however, he takes the fan out of your hands and acts like nothing happened. you two share a small moment before snapping back to reality, taking a deep breath.
you turn back around to the corner desk, practically ignoring everyone’s stares in the room. you couldn’t believe how obvious that interaction was. thank god, your shift just ended. your cheeks flushed with embarrassment as you picked up your bags and left.
。・:*˚:✧。
once you’re home, you place your things down and lean against the countertop. you really need to make some mental notes so this doesn’t happen again. this is the first job you’ve been able to land in so long and you really need it. despite all your talk about it being worthwhile because of him, you can’t get caught under these circumstances at the moment.
you make your way to the bedroom, taking in how your room smells like his cologne. it distracts you from any negative thoughts you might have, which then reminds you that you two have reservations tonight.
you take a quick shower before getting yourself all dolled up. you contemplated on what to wear but you always knew you were going go with the short purple dress. his favorite color besides ivory. you wanted to blow his mind tonight… for all the good reasons of course.
。・:*˚:✧。
after about 15 minutes, you heard the doorbell ring and you happily open the door to see your handsome boyfriend. he definitely cleans up well, as if he knew you were going to wear his favorite color… he was also wearing a purple shirt and a pair of black slacks.
he grabbed your hand almost instantly, intertwining your fingers with his after you locked the front door.
“ i missed you love, you left so quick earlier “ there was a small pout evident on his lips. you gave him a gentle smile, pecking it away as he opens the car door for you.
“ i know i know but if i didn’t, i would not look the way i do right now “ you replied, hints of sarcasm in your voice. he raised his brow towards you as he made his way into the driver’s seat, casually placing his hand on your thigh like it was a regular thing.
“ whether you left early or not, you always look beautiful to me “ he said softly, stealing a couple glances of you while trying to focus on the road. he still couldn’t believe that you were his; it seemed almost impossible for the two of you to be together due to the company rules but hey, rules are made to be broken and knowing him, he would do anything for you even if it costed his career and maybe… that’s where the two of you are really different.
。・:*˚:✧。
heeseung actually lied about the reservations. he had planned a whole candlelight dinner at the beach right off this cliff with the view of the dark blue ocean waves and he went all out for decorations.
he pulled out the chair for you as you sat down, making his way across from you. there was a huge smile plastered on his face and you could tell just how happy he was in this moment.
“ can you believe our one year anniversary is in a few days? it’s kept me up the past few nights, i mean it already feels like it’s been more than 5 years with you so it’s still a bit unbelievable “ he initiates the conversation, reaching for your hand. handing hold was definitely a must in your guy’s relationship; it’s a comforting, yet intimate thing you two agreed on.
you return the huge smile, gazing into his brown eyes “ you’re so silly hee! one year has definitely come quicker than we expected but i’m happy either way with you “ you send a flying kiss in his direction and he pretends to catch it.
light laughter erupts the beginning of the evening and as you sit across from the man you just expressed your feelings to, you question just how much this relationship really means to you and the lengths you’re willing to go.
。・:*˚:✧。
there were various dishes placed on the table and you couldn’t believe just how much food heeseung ordered for the both of you. you even realized that it was all your favorite foods.
“ no you did not! “ you exclaim happily, a feeling of disbelief evident in your expression. besides heeseung, there was nothing else that made you happier than food. heeseung has always been one of the people in your life who encourages you to eat, he wants you to be healthy and of course, happy in your own body.
“ all for you my y/n, thank you for being so patient in this relationship. i know keeping us a secret and sneaking around can get tiring but you have never given up on us and i am forever grateful. “
there’s a weird unsettling feeling in the pit of your stomach at his words but even so, your eyes water and you choose to ignore it as you reach to cup his cheeks and kissing his delicate lips. it was definitely worth the wait this week.
he kissed you back almost immediately, a grin forming on his lips between the kiss. “ i guess someone really did miss me huh? “ he teased you a bit as you playfully roll your eyes.
you two pull away, locking your hands together at both ends of the tables.
“ i love you, lee heeseung. “
“ i love you more, kim y/n. “
。・:*˚:✧。
it’s been a few days since the dinner date with heeseung and his words still haven’t left your mind. if a stranger were to tell you that someone could actually love you as much as heeseung does, you’d probably laugh in their face but you’re so thankful that this love was real.
it was about 7:30 am when you woke up, you slowly got out of bed and did your morning routine. you weren’t a morning person and heeseung has constantly nagged you about it but who was he to judge you for wanting to sleep in?
you got ready for the day and grabbed your essentials before running out your door, it was already 8:15 am and enhypen’s performance starts in an hour, you worried if you’d make it in time. you’re usually very punctual so maybe bang pd would ignore this first late warning.
。・:*˚:✧。
as you made your way into hype, you instantly felt intense stares from individuals in the lobby. you started feeling anxious, what the heck was going on? you brushed them off and made your way up to the back room, enhypen was already waiting there for you but heeseung was missing. worry started to fill your head but you had no time to waste so, you continued on with your regular schedule like your heart wasn’t beating out of your chest.
the clock stroke 9 am when you finished the boys’ hair and still no sight of heeseung. you started picking at your finger tips for awhile before you heard a voice speak up as if they could read your mind.
“ if you’re looking for heeseung hyung, bang pd asked to speak to him earlier this morning.. “
pause.
“ there were photos of the two of you a few nights ago, are you two really dating? “
you look up to see jungwon, concern shown all on his face. you were so taken back that all you could muster up was a small “ yes “, which caused him to furrow his brows.
“ you both know the rules, risks like this is not good for the both of you. “ hints of frustration could be heard in his voice, clear signs that he was not happy about the situation.
“ we can’t risk losing heeseung hyung so… please leave him be. ”
and with a guilty expression, jungwon walked off.
。・:*˚:✧。
bang pd had just left the backroom after he spoke to you. he was willing to give you one more chance to show him that you deserved this job and a part of you broke inside. how were you suppose to leave the only person who’s ever loved you more than life itself?
the music from the boy’s performances were blasting from the tvs in the back room but that was the least of your worries. even then, jungwon’s words wouldn’t leave your mind. it seemed like you had no choice but to not interact with heeseung.
and just like every time, enhypen’s performance ended and the normal loud voices eroded into the back room but this time, you couldn’t bring yourself to look up from the floor.
you fought tears that threatened to cascade down your face; you could clearly hear his voice and catch his cologne out of everyone in the room. the scent of him so comforting to you.
you took a deep breath and nervously made your way to the members, trying to make it seem like nothing bothered you. you walked past him, handing the small electric fan that you usually give him to sunoo. you couldn’t help but feel his eyes on you; the fact that you two haven’t got to talk to each other all day made the tension feel ten times worse. you felt your heart ache as you turned around, making eye contact with him for a small second and that was the only thing shared between you both.
。・:*˚:✧。
a few long minutes passed and everyone had left for a lunch break. you sat in the room, trying to collect yourself but the world stopped when you heard his voice call out for you “ my love… please look at me. “
his words tugged at your heart strings and automatically, you brought your gaze up to him. he made his way in front of you, towering over you with his 6 foot figure.
“ i promise you, this doesn’t have to change anythi- “ you stood up abruptly and cut him off.
“ yes it does hee, you know it does. we always feared that this would happen… it was inevitable. “ your voice softly lingered on, seeing the agony slowly build up on his face.
“ don’t do this y/n, it’s not what you want. “
“ i will not live with the guilt of being the reason why your career ends hee! “
“ i’m not asking you to be! “
“ then what are you asking me, hee?! huh? “ your chest heaves up and down at how the conversation went from 0 to 100 in the span of a few seconds. you shifted your gaze to the side, almost defeated.
“ you’re the only one keeping me going y/n, i can’t lose you. “
“ i need this job hee... i can’t. you know how hard it was for me to find a job, i’m- “ there was a tight grasp on your wrist as he cut you off, your back up against the wall.
“ i’m begging you y/n… you’re the only one i need, i’ll provide for the both of us. “ you could hear the crumbling desperation in his voice and the constant deep breaths he took as he looked down at you.
“ how can i do life without you? “ he barely managed to utter.
you could feel the immense emotions ready to burst out as you two locked eyes once you gathered the strength to look up at him again. you and heeseung didn’t even have to speak to know how each other felt. he already knew you made up your mind and it hurt to know that you could make a decision so easily.
“ i’m so sorry hee… “ your voice cracked as you saw the tears form in his eyes. you longed for his embrace but you know you’re the last person to deserve to be in his arms.
“ do you even know what day it is, y/n? “ his voice trembled. his question caught you off guard. he tried to look for any remembrance in your eyes but he couldn’t. he was in disbelief.
“ it’s may 30th y/n.. our one year anniversary. do you really not remember? “
the realization finally hit you. you couldn’t believe the words that just escaped his lips, how could you have forgotten? even through his chaotic schedule, he still remembered. it was this moment, you couldn’t stop the flow of tears that left your eyes.
“ that cover, don’t you remember it? the smiles that we shared, that day alone will always be my favorite… “ he swallowed down his sobs, his posture straightening as the pain he felt intensified.
“ i know you already made a decision love... i just wish you talked to me before you did. “ he brought his thumbs up to gently wipe away your tears.
“ hee, if i could go back just a few hours, i would’ve done this all differently. i’m so sorry…“ despite everything that just unfolded, you embraced him one last time.
you felt the warmth of his arms around you and the warm teardrops on your shirt. “ i will never stop loving you, lee heeseung. “
finally, he let his sobs through the moment he wrapped you up in his arms. maybe if he held you a bit longer, this would all of a sudden be a dream. that’s what he hoped for, at least.
“ i love you kim y/n… with everything i have. you are undoubtedly, the best decision i have ever made. “ he mumbled through his sobs as he finally let you go.
tw : very brief mentions of pedophilia, grooming and sexual harassment.
hi! i’m rei and i’ve been writing for enhypen since 2022 (this is my second account revamp), but i’ve been lurking around enhablr since 2021. i’ve noticed some misguided words, especially from new enhypen writers due to recent events, and decided to make this post, so please make sure to read thoroughly.
first of all, i want to painfully break it to the ones who started their accounts in 2024, who thought that enhablr was a safe space, and tell you that it is not one. it has NEVER been one.
now, i’m not saying that to make you disappointed and want to quit, but simply to tell you the truth behind it all. i think there was an illusion created around this community, behind the pretty themes and fluff works, that blinded the people who weren’t actively a part of enhablr, and had just joined us.
in 2021 we had blatant pedophilia with the 02z, brief moments after they debuted, when they were just 18. the community was still a bit messy since enha was a rookie group and fresh out of i-land.
in late 2021, and especially 2022, we began seeing enhablr take some form, but with it, we got a terrible like to reblog ratio and some plagiarism. late 2022 had more pedophilia again, now with sunoo, who had just turned 19, and had adults posting nsfw works for him on the day of his birthday. plagiarism began getting strength and many writers had both their works and banners / layouts copied.
in 2023, during the very start of the year, we had more pedophilia cases. this time, with writers. a grown man with an account named mintchocolatesunoox verbally harassed many minors with sexual asks and threats. we also had a 30yo writer named luna interacting constantly with minors and treating them in a way that crossed boundaries.
we had cases of homophobia with writers avoiding and blocking other lgbtqiap+ writers and blaming it on their religion. not only that, but we also had another adult jumping into conclusions when a minor blocked them for being uncomfortable, saying the hate anons she was getting were from the minor, when it wasn’t. plagiarism got even worse at this time.
there were also more grown adults writing smut for jungwon when he turned 19, and at the end of the year, their target was ni-ki when the korean law changed the legal age from 19 to 18 years.
this year we had islamophobia, people refusing to acknowledge and share about the ongoing massacres and genocides around the world, more plagiarism, writers using AI to write their works with no shame, and minors consuming smut.
these are only some of the countless problems surrounding enhablr, not including the intern problems that weren’t outed.
many of these situations got worse as the conflicts began leaving tumblr and started going to other apps and group chats. i’m not saying the issue is on making friends and keeping contact outside tumblr (because i even encouraged it creating servers and such). the biggest problem is how so many people aren’t holding their friends and the ones who do these types of things accountable.
it’s not about doing it and apologizing, it’s about apologizing, changing, and holding yourself and others accountable. the memory of some people seems like one of a goldfish, completely ignoring the behavior of those who didn’t even apologize, and moving on.
enhablr was never safe, because we, writers, didn’t make it safe. the ones without morals are finding space to act like this because we are giving them space. if we do want to keep these people at bay and make enhablr a truly nice community we have to start really calling out and educating the ones who are doing and saying horrible things.
start by doing it privately, trying to educate them. if it doesn't work, call them out, no matter who they are. condone their wrong actions and hold them accountable if they don’t post a pronouncement or change their behavior.
don’t let things slide and don’t think mutuals or friends shouldn’t be educated too. we are all still human and commit mistakes, but keeping practice of them is not and will never be normal.
so if you think something is off, say it, talk it out, post it. don’t let it keep happening. the change always starts from inside out.
warnings: mentions of nightmare and break-up, pet names, lowcase written, one kiss, not proofread (if more pls lmk!)

synopsis: your boyfriend always knows how to reassure you
a/n: don’t ask me anything please i just felt the need to have a lovable jake moment 🙏🏻 feedbacks are appreciated 💓
“jake.”
“jakey.”
“jaeyun.”
“sim jaeyun.” you call out his name for the fourth time, but your boyfriend remains fast asleep, one hand tucked under your head and the other draped over your waist, holding you close.
you sigh softly, your breath shaky as you stare at jake’s peaceful face. his lips are slightly parted, his soft newly dyed blonde hair falling messily over his forehead. he looks so calm, so content and you feel a pang in your chest.
the remnants of the dream cling to you like a suffocating weight. it was vivid, so painfully real. you can still hear his voice — cold and distant —as he said the words you never thought you’d hear: "we’re over. i can’t do this anymore."
in the dream, you stood frozen, staring at him in disbelief. the way he avoided your eyes, the way he pulled away when you reached for him — every moment felt like a stab to your heart. you tried to ask why, tried to understand, but he wouldn’t explain. he just kept saying it was over, that he needed space, that you weren’t enough anymore.
your chest had tightened, your throat constricted with sobs you couldn’t release. you felt your world crumbling, breaking apart, and no matter how much you begged him to stay, to tell you what went wrong, he just… left.
the ache from that dream still lingers, gnawing at your thoughts, making your heart race even though you know — you know — was just a dream. but it doesn’t stop the doubt, the fear that maybe, deep down, he might feel that way.
you glance up at jake again, his features soft and relaxed in his sleep, the complete opposite of how he’d been in the nightmare. you feel the warmth of his arm around your waist, the weight of his body pressed gently against yours, but it doesn’t chase away the unease. what if, one day, he wakes up and realizes he doesn’t love you anymore.
tears sting your eyes. you hate how much that dream affected you, but it felt too real. you gently place your hand on his chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing, but it’s not enough to soothe the turmoil inside you.
"jake," you whisper, your voice barely audible, as if speaking any louder might make the dream real. "jakey, please wake up."
he doesn’t stir, still lost in his deep slumber. you bite your lip, trying to keep your emotions in check, but your voice cracks as you say his name again, a little louder this time. "jake."
you feel him shift slightly beside you, a soft groan escaping his lips. his eyes flutter open, blinking slowly as he tries to shake off the remnants of sleep. "babe?" his voice is hoarse, thick with drowsiness. "what’s wrong?"
his hand moves from your waist to cup your face, his thumb brushing away the tear that had slipped down your cheek. the concern in his gaze is instant, and it makes your heart ache even more.
"i had a… i had a bad dream," you admit, your voice trembling. "you… you broke up with me." saying the words out loud feels like reopening the wound. "you said you didn’t love me anymore. that you didn’t want me."
jake’s eyes widen, fully awake now, and in an instant, he’s pulling you closer, his arms wrapping around you protectively. "no, no, baby," he whispers, his lips pressing softly against your forehead. "that’s not true. it will never be true."
you bury your face in his chest, the steady beat of his heart grounding you, but the fear still lingers, clinging to your mind like a shadow. "it felt so real," you murmur, your fingers clutching his shirt tightly. "i tried to stop you, but you just… left. like i didn’t matter."
jake pulls back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes, his expression serious but filled with so much love. "hey," he says softly, his voice steady. "look at me." his fingers gently tilt your chin up so your eyes meet his.
“ i’m not going anywhere. ever. okay? i love you. i love you more than anything."
you nod, but the tears keep coming. "what if—“
"no, stop," he interrupts gently, his thumb wiping away more of your tears. "there’s no ‘what if.’ i love you, and that’s not going to change. not today, not tomorrow, not ever. you matter to me. you are everything to me."
his words wrap around your heart, soothing the raw ache left by the dream. his gaze never wavers, filled with sincerity, and the warmth of his love radiates through every word, every touch.
jake leans in, pressing his lips softly against yours, a kiss filled with comfort and reassurance. " i’m right here," he whispers when he pulls away, his forehead resting against yours. "always."
you take a deep breath, feeling the heaviness lift slightly, his presence grounding you. " i’m sorry," you whisper. " i didn’t mean to wake you."
"don’t be sorry," jake murmurs, his arms pulling you even closer. " i’m glad you did. i never want you to feel like that. ever." he kisses your forehead again, lingering as if to chase away any lingering traces of your nightmare. "you’ll never lose me, yn. i promise."
and for the first time since waking up, you believe him. you let yourself sink into his warmth, into the love that flows between you, and slowly, the fear begins to fade.
Please do not buy tickets to the WALK THE LINE tour.
Enhypen don’t deserve just a month break. They deserve a long, relaxing break. They deserve to be treated like human beings, they deserve to relax, to not be disoriented by a new time zone every other hour, to not sigh when they have to travel another day.
They deserve to breathe, to relax, to sleep, Enhypen are human beings, please, belift, just let them rest.
I think a lot about the members, those who have hurt themselves performing to the best of their abilities for ENGENES, but why can’t we try harder to vouch for a long break of relaxation? How come they try so much for us but we won’t even try for them?
I think about how Jay has exhausted himself constantly because he wanted to be there for the concerts despite physically exhausting himself.
I think about Jake who can barely open his eyes during concerts because despite his tiredness he wants to see engenes.
I think about Heeseung, who gets hate for being exhausted, being told he’s lazy because he cannot afford to extort any more energy towards his dances because he’s that tired.
Jungwon, Sunoo and Sunghoon who’s staying strong for the rest of their members, trying their best to keep the energy up as the other members try to catch their energy.
And Ni-ki, who’s the same age as me, who’s been mentally challenged during the tour, where he’s stated openly how tired he is. He’s the same age as me, I’m out enjoying myself, hanging with friends, finding new opportunities for me to grow as a person.
I get to relax, to sleep in as much as I want, to have the ability to snooze through my alarms and do nothing for the entire day and just relax.
He can’t do that, he’s working tirelessly. He’s only a teen like I am, how could I sit here and just let them do that?
Please, boycott the tour, don’t contribute to it, do not promote it, pay no mind, and pressure belift into a longer break.
They don’t deserve just a month, they deserve longer.
Boycott the Tour. If you call yourself an ENGENE, have a human heart, or just an ounce of compassion, boycott WALK THE LINE.
haven’t seen lots of awareness brought to this in enhablr yet but i really wish all engenes could also post about & talk about the mistreatment they’re getting from belift. the way they haven’t had not even five days of rest the past two years is so concerning. the way the members’ healths are getting worse is so terrifying. they’re all so horrendously overworked and exhausted. we all saw jay’s injury and how they STILL made him perform despite the fact that his knee was injured. and now he’s on a hiatus that probably won’t even last that long considering how greedy their company is.
jake had to sit out from two different stages in their most recent concert and couldn’t even open his eyes when he was present for the other stages. heeseung can’t even properly perform with how overworked and exhausted he is. riki even spoke out about fainting in his weverse (whether it was a mistranslation or joke or not) this is all so terrifying. it’s so concerning because every engene knows how much enha love music & how much they love performing and having concerts for their fans.
their schedules for the past two years have literally been inhumane. comeback after comeback. tour after tour. event after event. concert after concert. belift is treating the members like they’re literal robots and the only people that can actually stop this is engenes themselves the longer you demand for a rest for the boys for no more comebacks and even boycott the higher of a chance enha will have a BREAK.
so please as an engene SPEAK OUT. repost reblog on here on every platform retweet on X share posts on tumblr use hashtags do whatever you can in your power for enha because it’s so clear they don’t have anyone else but us engenes when their own company is treating them like this.
mind you. they’re planning on making enhypen have another comeback at the final quarter of this year. AGAIN.
LET ENHYPEN REST ‼️

synopsis ・❥・ your best friend and coworker, Jungwon decided to take you both to a club to have some fun after long busy days between the both of you. the boy just wants to have some fun…
fictional characters : y/n's friends — hari (sunghoon’s girlfriend), min-su (heeseung’s girlfriend), and ji-woo (jake’s girlfriend).
honestly you weren’t too sure about the night. this is something you both have never experienced before. especially when all you know is work nowadays. but its a weekend and you have nothing to lose so how bad can it be.
jungwon decided to carpool with a group of friends since he intends on drinking tonight and he knows you both can’t make it home if there is no designated driver.
heeseung, jake, and sunghoon decided to tag along with their girlfriends but you rode with sunghoon and his girlfriend hari because you trusted them with driving the most out of the group.
you still felt very uneasy with this night but those thoughts went away when you saw jungwon giving you reassuring looks.
sitting in the passenger seat, dressed in black. he looked very attractive tonight. it was really hard to only look him in the eyes but his eye contact did help get the negative thoughts out of your mind.
“dont worry y/n. we can do anything you want tonight. i want the night to be yours” he told you as he looked from the passenger seat.
after his words you lost every doubt in your mind and escaped from every voice telling you “no”, freeing yourself from ruining the night.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
you all arrive at the club and got checked in. the night was all in your hands from that moment forward.
jungwon stayed next to you the whole night. making sure you get all the wants you need to have fun.
he seemed to be attracted by your appearance too. he eyed your figure up and down. you matched his black outfit but in a way more exposed style. leather shorts and a black tank top kind of like his. he never seen you like this...
*similiar to this just a few differences*
after a few minutes, he asked if you wanted something to drink.
“i want to take it a bit easy first but can you get me something sweet and light please?”
“you got it y/n” he left with a smirk as he walked to the bar.
after a little while, he came back giving you the drink and cheered as he clinked his drink with yours.
before you took a sip, you focused your eyes on jungwon. letting him drink first. you wanted to see how he takes his alcohol and the boy took it well.
you were impressed a guy like him could take it with not much of a reaction.
before he can notice you staring, you looked away to finally take your own drink. you may have not seen him but he had a smirk on his face watching you take your drink too.
after a couple of drinks, jungwon still stayed in your company. but the effects of the alcohol were starting to kick in and you just felt the need to move.
ji-woo, min-su, and hari would make their way over to you offering you a drink.
"y/n come take a shot with us!" ji-woo shouted.
you grabbed the shot glass out of ji-woo's hand and held it while waiting for the others.
"okay are you guys ready?" you asked.
"DUH!" min-su yelled.
"CHEERS!" the four of you shouted as you clinked the glasses together.
and down went the drinks...
"I think it's time to shake some ASS!" min-su screamed looking in your direction.
you screamed as you followed them to the dance floor, but before you could jungwon would take a hold of your hand.
feeling his warmth for the first time. you had no idea how to feel with his hand in yours but you definitely paused every movement that you had going on. he pulled you and turned you to look at him.
"y/n are you going to go dance with your friends?" his eyes worried as he questioned.
"yes i am! you wanna come with? it will be fun!" you answered with a bit of buzz.
"no its okay you can go have fun with your friends i dont wanna intrude." he smiled with his reply.
"okay won if you need me you know where to find me!" you laughed as you caught up with your friends to the dance floor.
jungwon started to grow red on his cheeks after hearing the nickname you gave him. he wanted you to stay and talk to him but he didn't wanna hold you back from having fun tonight. and as soon as you walked away, that dance floor was yours.
you honestly were tearing the floor up with your friends. even grabbing the attention of others around you. but with the amount of dancing you were doing you did not notice the eyes that were on you.
"y/n i think someone got their eye on you" hari informed you as she noticed the man next to you looking at you move.
"wow you sure can dance. what's your name beautiful?" the guy asked.
"haha thank you. i'm y/n." you laughed and introduced yourself.
"what a pretty name for someone just as pretty. I'm intak."
"mind if i dance with you y/n? I can show you how good of a dancer i am" intak asked raising an eyebrow with a smirk on his face.
"then show me." you answered, challenging his skill.
he smiled lightly, licking his lips. and he really did show you how good he was.
"OKAY INTAK! I see you!" you laughed.
he laughed as well and soon his arms would meet your waist.
"Is this okay?" he asked.
"yea that's fine but can you handle it?" you giggled.
"oh trust me, i can handle all of you." he assured you.
you started to sway your hips to the music while in his arms as he rested his head on your shoulder.
you were enjoying yourself but you did not feel the intensity coming from where you were sitting before. where jungwon was. his stare grew stronger as he clenched his jaw and his eyebrows arched more and more the longer you were with intak.
Jungwon was pissed.
sunghoon and hari would leave the dance area and made their way to where jungwon was sitting.
"Jungwon do you see y/n!?" sunghoon asked the boy.
"y/n is going crazy on that dance floor! but i need a break so we'll watch from here with you." hari said excitedly.
"who is that?" jungwon asked with no hesistation.
"who? you mean intak?" sunghoon asked.
"yea him, the guy with y/n... what is he doing?"
"oh that's the guy that had his eyes on y/n as soon as we got to the dance floor. i think he likes y/n." hari answered.
"oh really? okay. are you guys gonna stay here?" jungwon asked the couple.
"us? yeah… why? are you leaving?" sunghoon answered.
"yea i feel like dancing. i think the drinks are kicking in..."
"Okay have fun!" hari shouted.
Jungwon got out from his seat and made his way to you and intak.
he saw the two of you now dancing in front of one another. your smile reflecting on intak's skin. he intruded the situation quickly.
"Hey y/n are you having fun!?" jungwon asked.
"HEY JUNGWON! AND YES I AM OH AND BY THE WAY THIS IS INTAK! OH AND INTAK THIS IS MY FRIEND JUNGWON!" you introduced them to each other.
"Yo!" intak shouted as he dapped up jungwon.
“Oh hey intak by the way i think someone was asking for you near the bar. Jungwon pointed to the bar.
“Oh really? K thanks man” intak said as he walked towards the bar.
jungwon watched him leave with a smile on his face as he turned his attention to y/n.
“So u want to dance with me now?” Jungwon asked you.
“Only if you want to” you said making sure he was okay.
“Of course. Anything for you.” Jungwon said as he pulled you closer, allowing you to wrap your arms around his neck.
he couldn’t take his eyes off you after seeing you under the lights. but it was the exact same for you. he looked better than he did before. something about him being this close made him more attractive.
“y/n are you trying to find a boyfriend tonight?” he asked.
“why you asking?”
“just curious. I mean it looked like intak liked you. do you like him?”
“did he? i just thought we were having a good time. although now that you said that I can see that—“
“but do you like him too?” Jungwon cut you off.
“uhh… maybe i don’t know. I mean he is cute.”
“well what about me?”
“what about you?”
“uhh… uhm… i mean aren’t you going to ask me who I like?” he hesitated.
“Oh… yea i guess. who do you like? did you come here to find someone too?” you awkwardly asked.
“actually i do have eyes on someone here. someone who I talked to. that someone is really beautiful tonight. but i don’t know if I should make the move. it might be risky.” jungwon confessed.
“Oh… really? I mean if you really like them maybe you should. You know you might miss the right opportunity if you don’t. Who knows if you’ll see them again.” you replied.
“Hm well something tells me that I will. And that is why it’s so risky to me. I don’t want anything bad to happen between us.”
“I promise you. You’ll regret it if you don’t do it.” you assured him.
“okay… then come with me.” he said.
“oh? sure i’ll go with you.” you agreed.
you were having mixed thoughts… the thought of jungwon with somebody else. you didn’t want that since you wanted to be with him. but you also had to be a good friend and support him. although it is going to be hard when you see who he likes and it isn’t you…
he grabbed your hand and took you to sit down with him at the booth you were sitting at before but now all your friends were there.
“Hey jungwon! Hey y/n!” Ji-woo shouted.
Both you and jungwon waved and said hi back.
“We were just about to take a shot come join us.” Jake offered as he gave both of you a glass.
Everyone held their shot glasses in the air and clunked it after a “CHEERS!” from the group.
“Hey jakey i’m gonna go to the bathroom” ji-woo told her boyfriend.
“Can I come with?” Jake asked.
“No silly! but do any of you wanna come with?” Ji-woo asked looking at you and your friends.
“Min-su needs to go. She’s been avoiding it because she wants to stay with me.” Heeseung replied.
“HEE!” min-su playfully hit her man. as he chuckled.
“Ouch!” Heeseung screamed.
“Well don’t speak for me next time! But yes he’s right I do need to go potty” min-su answered.
“Me too! y/n are you coming?” hari asked you.
“Uhh no i’m good, you guys have fun though.”
“Okay! We’ll be back!” Ji-woo let the group know.
A few minutes passed and you sat down taking a break because you started to feel more of the alcohol in your system.
The guys were just talking and drinking a little here and there. And then it hit you that jungwon never actually told you who he likes.
“Hey jungwon?” you asked.
“Yes y/n?” He answered leaving the conversation with his friends.
“So are you going to tell me?”
“Tell you what?”
“Who you like?…”
“Oh. Well I don’t really need to tell you.”
“And why is that?”
“Because you can probably guess who it is.”
“Well I obviously can’t which is why I’m asking.”
“Maybe I can give you a hint then…”
Jungwon grabbed your hand and took you away from his friends into an empty booth.
you both sat down next to each other as you looked at him waiting for him to say something but then suddenly he traced his fingers over the line of your jaw, pulling you into a kiss.
You were shocked and backed away from the kiss after a few seconds.
“Jungwon.”
“I’m sorry did I scare you?”
“No it’s just… I was not ready for that.”
“It’s okay we don’t have to… I just needed to let you know how I felt. Do you feel the same way.”
“I’m not sure. What if this ruins our friendship and risks our jobs?”
“Nothing is going to happen to us. I’ll make sure of it.”
“I don’t know…”
“Well I’m not going to let you talk to that other guy.”
“What? You mean intak?”
“Yup because I can’t let you slip away to a man who knows nothing about you.”
“Well what if I liked him?”
“Then I’ll give you a reason to like me more.”
Jungwon got out of his seat and got down on his knees.
“What are you doing?” You asked him.
“I’m letting you do what you want. Anything you want. Anything to make you enjoy tonight. Anything to make you love me” he smirked with a gaze towards you.
You were in shock not knowing what to do but he looked extremely good on the ground. as if he was begging for your love.
“Go ahead. Give me a drink my love.”
“What?”
“Get me drunk baby”
“Okay fine if you say so.”
You grabbed a glass and held it in your hand.
Jungwon thought you were going to hand it to him so he reached for it but then you pulled it away and grabbed his chin and poured it into his mouth yourself.
“I’m getting you drunk remember so just let me handle it. You just sit there and give me a reason to love you” you told him.
He grinned. His cheeks glowing red.
You would then pour more into the same glass and drink it yourself.
You looked over to see his reaction and he couldn’t be more in love with you.
“What? did you like that?” You asked.
“Maybe.” he said.
“Maybe?”
“Yes I did. I really liked that. Do it again for me.” He spat out knowing he can’t hide his feelings.
“That’s what I thought.”
The alcohol definitely changed your mindset and made you make decisions you normally wouldn’t make.
You went to drink some more. About two more shots for you. Soon enough you were extremely drunk.
“How you feeling baby?” Jungwon asked.
“I’m fine don’t worry about me, you should be worrying about this.”
You poured another shot down his mouth and used your lips to clean his with a kiss right after.
That short kiss was ended when jungwon pulled away to make sure this was what you wanted.
He looked into your drunken eyes seeing if you were okay and you smiled giving him a nod to assure him it was okay.
With your permission, he went in for a longer kiss.
You weren’t sure if it was the alcohol but you definitely felt something in your stomach but it felt right.
You finally pulled away a little from his lips just to look in his eyes…
“Jungwon… I love you… and I always have” you said with your eyes starting to close as you pulled in for one more kiss.
you were kissing him and then pulled away once more and laid your head on his shoulder. that was the last thing you remembered that night. You passed out on jungwon.
he was still able to handle you and deal with you even though he was also a bit drunk himself.
“hey i love you too y/n” he said as he gave you a little peck to your head.
jungwon then wrapped his arm around you putting your arm around him and took you to where your friends were.
It seemed that they were also fairly drunk as they rested on their partners as well.
“Oh my goodness y/n??” ji-woo asked with concern.
“HAHA y/n IS OUTTT!” min-su screamed as she pointed while resting in heeseung’s arms.
“Is y/n okay?” hari asked.
“y/n is fine. but i think its time we all call it a night.” Jungwon responded.
“Agreed. I can drive too, I didn’t drink much.” Sunghoon told the boy.
“Thank you” jungwon said.
“Come on baby we need to get you home too” Heeseung told his girlfriend.
“But I don’t wanna leave. Don’t leave me hee.” Min-su cried.
“I’m not going to leave you baby. Do you want to come home with me?” Heeseung asked.
“YES!” Min-su screamed.
Heeseung laughed at his drunk girlfriend.
“Okay baby come on let’s go” heeseung carried his girl to the car.
“Jakey I wanna go home too.” Ji-woo whined.
“My home?” Jake asked.
“mhm!” ji-woo nodded.
“Okay love we can go.” Jake smiled.
jake and ji-woo would leave too.
“Okay then… is everyone ready to go?” Sunghoon asked.
“No!” Hari shouted as she laughed.
“Just kidding!” she screamed as her and sunghoon laughed.
“Come on you idiot let’s go home!” sunghoon exclaimed.
“whatever loser just don’t let me eat shit!” hari yelled.
sunghoon just chuckled as he carried her with his arm around her into the car.
you and jungwon would follow them into the car.
this time he sat with you in the back seat, while sunghoon and hari sat in the front.
you were still very much passed out but you did overhear jungwon and sunghoon’s conversation while going in and out of sleep.
“so it finally happened huh jungwon?”
jungwon giggled.
“you finally got y/n to love you back” sunghoon added.
“i can’t believe it. i loved y/n for years now. i waited so long for this to happen.
“well im happy for you. you don’t have to be the 7th wheel now! or is it 8th? whatever” sunghoon told the smiling boy.
“yea i just hope everything goes smoothly” jungwon said while looking away.
“trust me, relationships are not easy and there’s always going to be bumps in the road. but if your love is strong enough you can get through it all. Just like hari and I. we aren’t exactly the perfect couple but we still love each other no matter what. i can’t ever imagine my life without her.” sunghoon reassured him.
“shut up loser i’m trying to sleep.” hari grumbled.
the boys chuckled at her response.
that is when you opened your eyes and got up from jungwon’s shoulder.
“oh y/n? you’re awake? are you okay my love?” jungwon asked with concern on his face.
you didn’t answer, you just pulled him into another kiss.
“okay lovebirds that’s enough! we reached your destination!” sunghoon shouted.
you both giggle and look at each other as you leave the car walking to jungwon’s home.
it was your first time at jungwon’s home, the first of many nights to come…

y/n and sunghoon were sprawled out on the couch, laying side by side while on separate devices.
the girl scrolled through social media, passing each video until a particular one caught her eye. she let it play, a curl coming onto her lips as mischief formed in her head.
“hey hoon?” she chirped to her boyfriend.
sunghoon nodded his head in response, attention remaining on his phone.
“can i see your reaction to if somebody hit on you at the store?”
he quickly shifted his gaze to his girlfriend with furrowed brows. “what??” he chuckled, slowly processing her idea.
“come on, just like this video.” she shoved her phone into his face, displaying the video of the couple giggling in the store.
a look of disbelief morphed on his face as he turned back to y/n. “am i gonna get into trouble from this?” he asked, raising one of his thick brows.
the girl giggled, softly shrugging her shoulders while replying, “depends on how you react.”
sunghoon sighed, small grin taking over his face. he wasn’t opposed to the idea after all.
“fine, but if you yell at me, just know that this was your fault to begin with.” he teased, quickly leaning in for a peck on the cheek to distract his girlfriend.
“wh— hey!” she wiped off the kiss. “you can’t just say that and kiss me!”
“too late.” he flashed a toothy grin, plastering on his charming fangs as she sent a smack.
“ow, okay!” he draped a hand over the ‘bruised’ hit and murmured, “you can stop hitting me, i’ll do the video!”
y/n huffed out a sigh and rolled her eyes. “my hits weren’t even that harsh…,” she mumbled, allowing a small smile to be seen on him.
“i know, i just wanted to annoy you.”
she reflected his adorable grin, nudging him away as she began propping the phone up.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
sunghoon took up half of the screen, looking busy with his eyes focused on a product that was definitely not his already when y/n walked in.
“oh excuse me…,” she prettily blinked, making him glance up with a little snicker. “can you help me? do you know where i can find this specific soap here?”
the girl let her hands lay on his muscled arms, softly squeezing it, making hoon raise his brows and smirk.
“so.. do you think you can help me?”
he gave a quiet scoff. “yeah, and then maybe you can help me.”
she quickly hung her mouth open in shock. “sunghoon!!” her hand that rubbed his arms smacked him multiple times. “you’re gonna say that when a girl comes up to you??”
hoon giggled, nose scrunched and eyes shut from the joy he got in teasing her. “you rubbed my arms, how else should i have reacted!” he yelled, attempting to shield himself from the continuous hits when the recording paused. “that hurts, gorgeous!!”
“that’s what you get!” she laughed back.
“okay, okay! i got it this time!”
his girl huffed before letting the video start again.
“hey..,” y/n approached him. “i just saw you from far away and you’re just so handsome…, can i get your number?”
sunghoon bit back another smile, trying to stay in character as he cleared his throat, “i know i’m handsome, you didn’t have to come up to me to say that.”
her brows quickly scrunched together in disbelief at his words, though still attempting to be the stranger. “so is that a no, pretty boy?” she blinked her eyes, waiting for an answer from the male who was suddenly blushing.
his cheeks grew red and a smile began to show on his lips. hearing that nickname was definitely not what he was expecting.
y/n lingered her stare into his, enjoying his flustered state when she was usually the shocked one.
he quietly hummed, blood still rushing to his cheeks as he uttered, “… y..yes.”
she quickly tilted her head with scrunched brows. “yes??” another smack to the shoulder. “you cheater!”
sunghoon threw his hands up in defense, smiling at her reaction. “what was i supposed to do?? you never call me pretty boy!” he shouted back, trying to get his girlfriend back into his arms.
she clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes, softly letting out laughs since she knew it’d be his weakness. “so if some girl calls you pretty boy, you’re gonna cave in and say yes??” she tested, crossing her arms.
he huffed out a chuckle, stroking her locked hands with his thumbs. “only if that girl is you.” he leaned in for a kiss, expecting a forgiving and sweet pucker up when she turned away.
hoon plastered on a pout, bottom lip pushing out as his eyes glistened. “baby…,” he tried to sooth, but she only shook head in a teasing way.
“again, hoonie.”
he sighed before letting the video start again.
“excuse me?” y/n tapped his shoulder. “i just saw you from over there, and i really wanted to ask for your number. i think you’re definitely my type.”
the male let out a soft exhale, finding his girlfriend unbelievably pretty. his eyes glimmered with love as he shook his head.
“i’m sorry, i have a girlfriend. she’s all i need.” his head held up high, proud of his answer when he felt a soft hit land on his arm.
sunghoon whipped his head in confusion, making y/n playfully click her tongue. “why are you apologizing for having a girlfriend?” she teased, replaying his words in her head. “and you’re supposed to say ‘leave me alone.’”
he scoffed out a laugh, lips coiling into a grin when letting out a quiet scream. “okay, i got it this time, trust me!”
her eyes squinted in disbelief before complying, clicking record once again.
“sorry..,” she walked close to her man. “but do you know where i can find the—“
before she could even finish her sentence, sunghoon was swiftly moving pass her, not uttering a single word.
“hey! excuse me!” y/n tried to stay in character, stifling back laughs from the cold shoulder she was receiving. “i’m talking to you!”
she reached out for one of his arms but he harshly retracted it back and shook his head.
“sir!” she yelled, unable to hide her wide grins. “sir!! i just wanted to know where—“
“go away!!”
“sunghoon!” y/n laughed, huge amount of giggles escaping her as he turned back with a mirrored smile.
he had a cheesy smile on his face, brows raising for her approval while she remained to burst in laughter.
the boy approached her, arms wrapping around his favorite girl as they giggled together, adoring how much y/n found his reaction funny.
“that was good, wasn’t it?” he chuckled, pulling her closer to his chest.
she let out muffled laughs, nodding her head while nudging his arm. “i was definitely not expecting that.”
“so should i always do that?”
“maybe another try.”
he scrunched his nose before sighing and agreeing, pressing the record button.
“hey, you’re a really handsome guy, do you have a girlfriend?” y/n asked, hands playing around with her hair strands.
hoon hid another smile, frowning to stop the corner of his lips from curling as he furiously nodded. “yes i do, her name’s y/n and she wouldn’t like you so please go away. i love her, and i’m all hers.”
the girl softly grinned, almost satisfied with his answer. “she doesn’t have to know about us, you know? i can always come back another time.” her hands reached up to his arms like earlier and squeezed them. “you have nice arms, by the way.”
it took his all to not fold right there, but he stayed composed. “yeah, they’re for my girlfriend, not you, so get out of my sight.” he instantly pushed the hands away, almost shoving his girl a little too harsh.
“ah! hoon!” y/n yelled.
“who’s hoon?? how do you know my name? are you a stalker?” the boy remained in his role, eyes squinting in slight disgust. “you’re weird, leave me alone.”
he attempted to push the ‘random’ girl away, hands shoving against her.
when y/n almost took a tumble to the ground, sunghoon pulled her back into his arms as instinct; but with the sudden weight shift, the two actually fell together.
they both yelled in sync, hands gripping onto each other as his person landed on top of him.
they giggled, resting against each other as y/n let her hand lay on his chest with his arm held close by her waist.
“so how was that?” he chuckled, breathlessly staring at the ceiling with his head thrown back.
he heard a soft laugh escape from her as she played with the faint ruffles of his clothing. “you better not catch the girl if that happens,” she playfully smacked his broad chest.
sunghoon scoffed. “you think really low of me.”
“no..,” y/n grinned. “you’re just really nice… and awkward.”
he rolled his eyes at her words before pulling her closer by the waist. “then you have nothing to worry about, pretty girl, because only you know my teasing side.”
her heart fluttered at his response, feeling butterflies rupture in her stomach as she snuggled near his upper body.
“i hate you.” she teased, slapping his arm and earning a deep chuckle from him.
the girl felt his rapid heartbeats while he uttered, “no you don’t, you love me.”
he let her glance up at him, loving the way her eyes beautifully sparkled in any light. his face glowed at the mere thought of her as he leaned in, lips curling and eyes lingering.
a finger hooked under her chin to bring her closer, urging for the yearning kiss he’s been wanting ever since the start of this situation.
their lips finally touched and he automatically grinned, pushing her for a sweeter taste as he held her cheek.
when air became a critical need, they both pulled away, sunghoon smiling ear to ear especially more with his fulfillment of a kiss.
“please tell me that was the last one we’re recording, i don’t know how many more hits i can take until i get a bruise.”
y/n snorted out a laugh before nodding her head. “that was definitely the last,” she murmured, leaning in closer to her favorite person.
hoon sighed in content, loving the way him and his girl were — locked on the ground with nothing but love for each other.

[ 5:47am ]
y/n stayed in the waiting room alone, impatiently shaking her legs as tears flowed down her cheeks. her fingers picked at each other, scratching whatever to calm herself while waiting to hear back from a doctor.
“please be okay..,” she mumbled to herself, throat choking at the amount of tears that were getting caught up.
“y/n,” a voice called out to her.
her heart dropped to her stomach, already recognizing the person that particular voice belonged to. she heavily breathed, tears still flowing as she stood to face the figure.
“sunghoon..,” she weakly responded.
the male softly gasped before running to her, engulfing his ex into his arms. his hands stroked her hair, instantly soothing her as her sobs got louder.
“sunghoon….,” she quietly croaked again, unable to stop the worried cries for their daughter.
hoon’s heart fell apart at the way she held onto him for comfort. he rubbed his hands against her back while softly tearing up. “you’re okay, gorgeous, i’m here now.” he mumbled, not realizing the nickname that sipped past his lips. “slowly tell me what happened to our baby girl.”
he pulled away, still leaving gentle strokes against her cheeks as he stared into her. “can you do that for me, y/n?” his soothing voice whispered, pushing back a few hair pieces behind her ear.
✩ ‘no matter how many times we fall apart’ ✩
the girl’s breath hitched, swallowing down a few sobs as she nodded her head. “i heard seo-ji cough in the middle of the night, and i went to go check up on her, but she had such a high fever..,” she let her gaze fall down. “and it was nothing that’s happened before, so i rushed to the hospital but she had already fainted.”
y/n felt her lips tremble as she quickly covered her face to hide her tears. the guilt from being a mom was suffocating her, making her overthink about the possible sicknesses her daughter could come down with.
“i should’ve slept with her, i should’ve just stayed in the room with her.”
tears flooded her cheeks again when she thought about the pale face seo-ji had, instantly feeling remorse.
“i’m sorry…,” she hoarsely whispered to sunghoon. “this was all my fault. if i had just stayed in the room, i would’ve been able to notice her much sooner.”
hoon’s gaze softened as tears flowed down his cheeks, body falling in pain of the way the girl he’s loved crumble apart. “y/n..,” he muttered, reaching for her face.
✩ ‘like i said, we’re the ones that matter the most’ ✩
he cupped it, forcing her attention to lay on him as he admired her beautifully sparkled eyes. “this was not your fault. we both know that, seo-ji just grew sick and you’re a great mom for quickly bringing her here, okay?” his thumbs rubbed her cheeks, wiping away the tears while continuing, “i’m sure our baby girl’s okay. she’s strong just like her mom and dad, she always has been from day one.”
✩ ‘we’re not meaningless’ ✩
the girl sniffled as his words instantly brought her back to when their little girl was still a new born.
seo-ji was a preemie, and had just gotten out of the hospital after having to spend her first two months there for incubation.
sunghoon and y/n were so excited to bring their baby home and introduce her to the new world when she began to struggle for air.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ — flashback
y/n fell upon her knees as preemie seo-ji had been taken to the nicu. tears uncontrollably ran down her cheeks, feeling her heart break into a million pieces each time she thought about her baby fighting to breathe.
hoon was quick to hold onto her, arms around her to create a comforting environment as heavy breaths left him. he felt his throat constantly get caught between air, lips trembling when he remembered his little girl who was too small to even hold.
“it’ll be okay, y/n, our little girl will breathe.” he soothed, giving back strokes toward his wife. “seo-ji is a fighter, and i know she’ll be fighting for her mommy and daddy.”
y/n clung herself to his chest before pulling away, eyes puffy and red from her cries as she mumbled, “you’re right, hoon, she’s our strong girl.”
sunghoon’s lips curled while tears still streamed across his face. “that’s right, pretty girl, she’ll get through this because she wants to meet us.” he leaned in and placed a long, sweet kiss on her forehead, sniffling away the remaining sobs as she nodded.
“seo-ji will meet us,” the girl murmured with optimism.
“that’s right, she will.” he replied, clearing his throat before pulling his favorite person into his arms again.
the two new parents held onto each other as soft tears still ran down their cheeks, clinging onto the hope that their little girl was indeed a fighter.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
y/n shut her eyes in the pain of that memory, hating how her heart stung at it.
she missed how they were, she missed how much of good parents they used to be together.
she quickly chewed her lips, directing the pain elsewhere besides her heart as she nodded at sunghoon’s words.
“our baby’s been through a lot, hoon.”
he let out a soft sigh, faintly blushing at the name while letting his head hang low with a nod in silence. “she has, but that’s why she’s so special.” his finger hooked under her chin as he gave a half smile. “she’s gotten it from us.”
y/n’s heart immediately melted, gaze softening at the boy she’s always loved.
she missed this so much. she missed him.
“sunghoon..,” she murmured.
✩ ‘i’m taking a step forward and’ ✩
“yeah, gorgeous?”
a quiet gasp escaped from her, leaving her audibly speechless as his eyes poured with love.
“how long do you plan to stay?”
the wrong question left her and she hated it, but she wasn’t even sure of where he stood.
she watched as his eyes squinted in disbelief. “never.” he firmly spoke. “i’m not leaving you alone tonight.”
✩ ‘i’m telling you what the past has shown us’ ✩
y/n’s heart fluttered, catching herself fall in love with the same boy all over again.
“you don’t have to—“
“i’m not leaving, y/n.” sunghoon confirmed with his brows slightly scrunched.
when he found his ex lover almost grow a worried look, he quickly corrected himself — “until i know seo-ji’s okay.”
oh.
her throat ran dry as she hesitantly nodded her head. “right.., for our daughter.” she croaked, shaming herself away when she felt her heart burn.
hoon sighed. he didn’t know why he felt the need to correct himself, but he wasn’t even sure of where she stood.
his hands gripped onto hers, fingers tightening around as he murmured, “i’m sure she’ll wake up any time soon.”
y/n agreed, giving a soft hum while clinging her fingers on his as well. “i know she will, i just can’t help but worry for her.” she replied.
sunghoon pulled her into another hug, arms wrapping around while her hands fisted and laid on his chest. “i worry for our baby too.”
he pressed a kiss onto the top of her head, reeling in the comforting warmth he’s been missing.
he wanted this love again, he wanted her.
the two continued to lay against each other, bodies pressed close as time grew closer to morning.
[ 6:32am ]
the doctor cleared her throat, catching the attention of two exhausted parents.
y/n removed herself first, sitting up straight while sunghoon wished he was able to softly wake like he used to.
“is seo-ji okay?” she worriedly asked, and the doctor nodded her head.
“she’s doing just fine, she’s currently resting as we speak.”
“can we see her?” hoon questioned, brows furrowed and heart pounding.
the pediatrician nodded her head once more. “of course, she’s just asleep but there is nothing to worry about. she’s just come down with a cold.”
y/n gulped, still feeling the guilt resent her as she muttered, “and her faint?”
“she only fainted because of how much her body fought the bacteria in her system, but rest assured, she’s doing great now. would mom and dad like to see her?”
the girl quickly turned to her ex-husband who wore the same expression as her, both furiously nodding.
the doctor directed the two to follow her and they did, walking past other rooms until they reached their daughters.
as soon as the door slid open to their little girl resting in the hospital bed, tears quickly filled their eyes.
“seo-ji…,” y/n softly cried, speeding to the side of the bed. “mommy’s sorry.”
her hand moved a few wavy hair pieces out of her child’s face, gently grinning at the familiar hair texture. her eyes filled with love as she never let her gaze leave seo-ji who remained peacefully asleep.
“i’ll give you guys a moment,” she heard the pediatrician say.
sunghoon approached near his girls, placing a warm hand on y/n’s shoulder as she continued to softly sob.
“i miss our lively girl, hoon.” she mumbled, placing a hand back onto his.
“i miss her too.”
he let out a quiet sniffle as tears filled to the rim. “she got that from you, you know?” y/n said, grinning ear to ear at the small memory of sunghoon and her being extroverts together.
he chuckled, toothy smile flashing when he murmured, “i think she actually got it from you, y/n.”
she shook her head, still peering her gaze into her baby girl. “she got it from you, mister loud introvert.”
he chortled out a laugh, eye smiles creasing at the familiar name she always gave him back when they were still dating.
“okay, fine, you might be right on this one.” he laughed again, laying his eyes on his favorite girl, who still didn’t notice the longing stare.
“i know i am,” y/n gleamed, earning another chuckle to erupt out of the two.
it felt right again.
no tension, no bitterness — just two loving parents with their baby.
sunghoon remained to stay attentive on her, mumbling, “y/n..,”
“hm?”
she finally turned, finding the boy already meeting her gaze. her face subtly grew shock but still raised her brows to question his calling for her.
“i…,” his throat suddenly ran dry, not knowing if he should risk it.
the atmosphere became quiet, silence filling every particle in the air as she remained confused when most of her attention stayed on seo-ji.
“i should go..,” he mumbled.
y/n fluttered her eyes down, avoiding his prominent stare while nodding her head. it was obvious her heart shattered at his words, but if she was gonna stay as a single mom, then she should prepare for worse.
“o..oh…,” she softly croaked. “okay.., that’s fine. we both know seo-ji’s okay now, so no worries. you can head off if you need to.”
she forced a smile on her lips, attempting to give a reassurance with a head nod.
sunghoon breathed, feeling his heavy heart burden even more. “you don’t need me?” he asked, wishing she’d fight for the relationship.
“seo-ji needs you,” she confirmed. “but if you have to be somewhere else, that’s okay too, hoon.”
the boy pressed his lips into a firm line, silently nodding before heading for the door.
he almost walked out, almost left the possibility of them being together again when his heart called out for her.
he couldn’t leave, not this time.
sunghoon turned, watching how y/n laid her head on seo-ji’s side tummy ached him. he needed to be there. he needed to be with his daughter, and the girl he’s wanted his ending with.
his feet pushed him closer, swallowing a harsh lump in his throat as he spoke, “y/n.”
she turned her head and his gaze grew soft. he kneeled down next to her, cupping her cheek while uttering, “i still love you.”
adrenaline instantly rushed in her veins as her heart fluttered. “hoon..,” her mouth fell open, too shock to say anything.
“i still want you. i don’t think i’ll ever love anyone else besides you, you’re the only one who completes me. if we have to start again, then we will because i’ll be in love with you each time we have to go back.”
✩ ‘so whenever you ask me again how i feel’ ✩
his hand pushed her cheeks up, making her eyes fall on him. sunghoon’s lips softly curled as he displayed hope in his eyes. “my answer will always be you, y/n. no matter where we stand, it’ll always be you.” tears welled up as he pulled her closer, letting his head bunk against hers.
✩ ‘please remember, my answer is you’ ✩
“sunghoon,” she mumbled, gently pulling away.
he felt scared, afraid that his ex-wife would push him away. he didn’t want to let someone special like her go.
“i still love you too.” his face instantly relaxed, making her grin as she continued, “i love you so much, hoonie. nothing can break that away from me. i always believed you’d be my soulmate, and i know you said we could restart but..,”
she stroked his cheeks with her thumbs, admiring his charming features while uttering, “how do we know we won’t make the same mistake again? we divorced so our little girl wouldn’t grow up with constant arguments in the house.”
sunghoon hummed as he gave a faint grin. “we won’t go through that again, i’ll make sure we won’t. i don’t want to ever lose you again.” he replied.
the boy leaned in, lips ghosting over hers with a craving. “whatever problem we have, we’ll fix it, y/n. do you think we can try again?” his breath fanned against hers, making her lean in as well.
“yes, hoon, we can.”
✩ ‘we’ll be alright, i want to try again’ ✩
he plastered on a wide grin, flashing his fangs before he pulled his girl into a kiss. his hands held onto her cheeks, moving her into place as he pressed his lips against hers.
sunghoon quietly groaned in satisfaction, finally tasting his craving. he felt her hands wrap around his neck, pushing them closer until she pulled away with a need for air.
he kept the smile on his face as he still kept himself close, pressing sweet kisses on her lips.
“missed kissing you, you know that?” he mumbled against her, earning a laugh and a hit to the shoulder like they were college kids in love again.
“sunghoon, we’re still in a hospital.”
he pursed his lips into a firm line and hummed. “is there a rule that says we can’t kiss in hospitals?” he leaned in again but she pulled away, earning a quiet pout.
“let’s focus on our daughter, okay?”
y/n stood, allowing him to stand as well. his arms instinctively wrapped around her waist, giving a back hug while pulling her closer to his chest. she missed this clingy side of him.
“you think she’ll be able to handle being an older sibling?” hoon asked, causing a gasp to be heard from his favorite girl.
“park sunghoon!”
he quickly chuckled, muzzling his head into her shoulder as he murmured, “i’m kidding…, seo-ji would be a great sister though, just saying.”
the male pressed a kiss against her neck, letting y/n softly laugh as her hand held onto her baby’s hand.
“maybe later in the future…, but for now, i’m okay with our little girl.”
sunghoon softly huffed, faintly wishing to be blessed with a baby boy as his hand held the two. he let it wrap around, bringing warmth while y/n let one of her fingers be placed in the palm of seo-ji’s hands.
she gave faint scratches, hoping the best for her daughter when she felt a sudden squeeze. her mouth fell open, heart loudly pounding in her chest as she turned to sunghoon.
the two were instantly taken back to when seo-ji was a preemie, and had to be taken back.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ — flashback
they stayed at the nicu as one of the nurses gave the baby to sunghoon, allowing him to finally hold his daughter after weeks of waiting.
tears rushed to his eyes with how little she was, barely feeling the weigh of seo-ji as he grinned ear to ear. every pressure on his shoulders immediately dropped once he had his daughter in his arms.
“hey baby..,” he whispered. “how are you doing?”
y/n’s heart softened at his voice as she glanced down to her baby. “mommy and daddy missed you very much,” she smiled. “stay strong so we can take you home, okay baby seo-ji?”
her fingers gently rubbed her cheeks, watching the little girl coo at the action earned tears to well up in her and sunghoon’s eyes. she then let her fingers run to the small hands seo-ji had, giving soft strokes when she felt the hand tighten around.
it barely wrapped all around throughout, but seo-ji still kept grip tight and suddenly grinned with her eyes closed.
there was that smile inherited from her dad.
“hoonie,” y/n harshly whispered. “do you see that?? she’s holding my hand!”
“lucky,” he fumed.
“you’re literally holding her,” she murmured back.
“i want her to hold my hand too…,” the boy pouted.
y/n softly laughed as she rolled her eyes, putting her attention back onto her baby while sunghoon remained locked on his pretty girl. the genuine smile she had from the little action melted his heart, making him fall for her even more.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
their eyes filled with love at seo-ji who clung her hands around y/n’s finger, as if nothing changed.
sunghoon’s lips coiled, loving the fact that he got to relive this heartwarming moment with every mental picture he took. he laid his head on y/n’s shoulder again, finding comfort in it as he murmured, “you think she’ll be surprised when she finds out we’re together again?”
the girl laughed, rubbing her baby’s hands while nodding. “she definitely will, but she loves us together anyway,” she replied, grinning widely at the healing wound in her heart.
hoon agreed, pressing a soft kiss onto his girl’s forehead before they sat in the chairs of the room.
the two curled up against each other once more, y/n resting her head against his broad chest as he engulfed her into his arms, letting his head fall on top of hers with a soft sight.
no more open wounds, and no more pain — sunghoon and y/n were giving it a try again, and were definitely not letting each other go this time.
pairing. ex bf! sim jaeyun x fem! reader genre. angst + hurt n comfort (?) wc. 1440 notes. mentions of danielle (nwjns) library.
🗯️ extra peng note. this was originally for hee and then i accidentally started writing jake LOL (´∀`*) this is not proofread like at all...
synopsis. after another failed date, the rain leads you to your ex-boyfriend’s house
droplets of water trickled from your head, neck, and shirt. the flimsy fabric on your shirt now uncomfortably clung to your skin.
the downpour had only started minutes before but you were drenched. nowhere near your house or any bus stops.
you felt miserable.
the sky felt the same. those gray clouds covering all the remnants of the moonlight. the angry tears of the floating clumps of vapor all coming down at once.
just as the tears from your eyes streamed down your face as you walked away from your date.
you had been on yet another date set up by your dearest best friend. her long list of single male acquaintances was never-ending. danielle hated seeing you only leave your room for academic purposes, so she gathered a list of boys that could help take your mind off of your ex-boyfriend of 2 years.
jake and you had broken up almost two months ago now.
it was a ‘mutual break up’. neither of you wanted to break up but feared the other would suggest it first. resulting in you both calling for a break during your last argument.
after going on countless dates with boys hand-picked by danielle, you couldn’t shake off the thoughts in your head.
not one date had you not spent the whole time spacing out and nit-picking every single thing about him to see if he was anything like jake.
knowing it wouldn’t help you in the long run but you needed him to have something that reminded you of your ex to keep the dating going.
but here you were, walking up to jake’s doorstep.
his house was the closest in the area to your date. after playfully bantering with tonight’s guy about him refusing to let you go home alone you snapped at him.
saying some pretty rude things, but it’s not like a second date was in the air anyway.
lying that your friend was around the corner, you started the thirty-minute walk home. it was a long walk but an easy one, no uphill or downhill, no boys.
that was until not even five minutes in the clouds erupted in anger and rain began pouring down.
with no umbrella and no signs of finding a dry way home, your eyes scanned the area and your legs started walking towards jake’s house.
“baby- ____?” he corrected himself, staring at your drenched and sobbing figure in disbelief it was really you.
“hi,” you cleared your throat, unsure of what to say.
jake’s shoulders fell as he reached for your wrist and brought you inside. closing the door and taking one final look at you.
“i’ll get you something dry to wear,” he spoke before disappearing into the hallway.
minutes later he came back with a towel and a shirt of his, handing them over to you who hadn’t moved since he left.
“let’s get you upstairs,” you let him drag you along upstairs into his bedroom.
finding yourself in the bathroom the break up had taken place in. staring at your disheveled reflection in the mirror you couldn’t help but feel pathetic.
why didn’t you just continue walking home in the rain? it’s not normal to show up to your ex's house silently begging for help.
“are you almost done?” his soft voice asked from the other side of the doorway.
“almost!” you squeaked, patting your face dry as you had to wash off all the makeup the rain and tears had ruined.
opening the door to see him sitting at the edge of his bed immersed in whatever was on his phone. he offered a rather forced-looking smile when he lifted his head due to the bathroom door opening.
jake patted the spot next to him.
“do you want to tell me what happened?” his voice overwhelmingly gentle.
“i don’t want to make my problems your problems too,” you shakily responded, staring at his floor.
“if i didn’t want to know i wouldn’t have let you in.”
inhaling deeply, you lifted your chin up slightly. moving to face him more by just a smidge.
“i was walking back from another date dani sent me on and it started raining,” you flushed with embarrassment.
it felt wrong telling jake you went on a date.
“he didn’t even bother to drive you home?” jake scoffed, staring at the side of your face.
“no i told him i could get home by myself,” whispering to him.
“____, you live a 30 minute walk from this side of town.”
“i know,” the frown on your face becoming more visible. “i just needed to clear my head.”
“you should have called someone, me even-"
“we don’t talk anymore jake.” you bit back.
the boy frustratedly ran a hand through his newly dyed hair.
“you know i still would have come to get you.”
you sniffled slightly at his words. remembering how when you were dating he would drop everything if you said you needed him. the memories of the happier times you spent together came rushing back. tears spilled from your closed eyes.
“i shouldn’t be here,” you stood up from the bed, wiping your face with the back of your hand. onky to be pulled back down.
“i don’t want you to leave,” his grip on your forearm was tight but not enough to be uncomfortable.
“that’s exactly why i want to go!” you tried to release yourself from his grasp, he didn’t fight you and dropped his arm back to his side. “you make everything so hard.”
“what are you saying?” jake looked at you, a small piece of hope emerging from his chest.
“every guy i go out with i compare to you,” you sobbed. “then when there’s nothing similar to you i make an excuse to leave.”
jake felt his heart melt. hearing the words he constantly dreamed about you saying for months in real-time. he cautiously brought his hand to rest over yours and rubbed the back with his thumb, trying to calm you down.
after minutes the sobbing turned into soft sniffles as you grounded yourself.
“i’m sorry for coming to your house and messing up your night,” you tell jake, keeping distance between you both when you take a pillow into your lap and hug it tightly.
“you’re not even doing anything?” jake let out a soft chuckle.
“i tend to ruin a lot of things for you, jake,” you frown. “i mean you could have been in australia if i didn’t beg you to stay and now we’re broken up.”
“don’t say that-”
“let’s just go to sleep,” you lay down and pulled the covers over yourself.
placing the pillow you had been holding in the center of the bed to make a barrier as if you hadn’t been longing to sleep next to him. you haven’t been able to get a full night's sleep since the two of you split.
you heard jake let out a loud sigh before he reached over and turned the lamp off.
“goodnight,” he whispers, only to be met with silence and shuffling from your side of the bed.
later in the night when you finally hear jake’s soft snores you decide to make a run for it. you were going to use the little amount of money in your bank account to call an uber and get out of there.
you quietly got up from the bed and tiptoed down the hallway to the laundry room to get your clothes that were now dried. you took the garments back to jake’s room and went into his bathroom to change. removing his shirt that he had given you earlier and setting it on the counter while you got into your own.
while you were looking at the shirt on the counter you realized it was one of the many shirts you had gifted him throughout your relationship. it happened to be your favorite shirt to borrow.
everything caught up to you once and again, finding yourself crying on jake’s bathroom floor.
unfortunately for you he had heard you and bursted through the door with no warning. he dropped down beside you as you tried to quickly wipe all your tears and pull yourself together.
“____,” he said softly, reaching to grab your hand.
you stayed staring at him with your teary eyes as you watched him intertwine your hands.
“i’m sorry,” you sob, clutching his hand tightly.
jake pulls your hand that he’s holding to bring you closer to him. letting your hand fall as he wraps his arms around you in a hug.
“you’re okay,” he whispers into your hair. “we’re okay.”
love me back ✶ sjy female reader word count 0.8k genre romance high school popular!jake ✉️ @okwonyo
love was something special, woven from the fragments of old heartbreak and first experiments. you could say you experienced love, in one form or the other. however, falling in unrequited love seemed to be your specialty at this point.
it was your third rejection and you couldn’t help but wonder what was so wrong with you. was it the way you approached them? the way you talked? did you spit when you spoke to them? or was it the way you fidgeted with your skirt when confessing?
all in all you found comfort in the quiet classroom as you stared out the window watching the life of others. the box of cookies in front of you were soggy and cold, the pink bow taunting you once again. this would be your third batch of cookies tossed into the garbage bin.
perhaps it was the cookies? what if they didn’t like cookies and preferred cupcakes? or a chocolate bar even. or no pastries at all?
while in the midst of your complicating thoughts, jake—your best friend, slid the classroom door open, smiling instinctively when he saw you.
“thought you went home already?” jake’s voice snapped you out of your daze, startling you slightly. “i was gonna wait for you,” you pointed towards the window indicating his soccer practice.
he was clad in his black jersey and shorts, a bit of sweat lined his forehead but he still managed to look ethereal in the dim light.
“oh,” he once again smiled walking over to sit beside you. “you didn’t have to, i know how tired you are.” jake snuck a piece of hair behind your ear as you sulked in your palm.
“what’s the matter, hm?” he noticed you toying with the box of cookies, eyes droopy and lips jutting out dejectedly.
you sighed before laying your head down on your desk, looking away from jake and hoping he didn’t notice your flushed cheeks. “do you think there’s something wrong with me?”
“it what way?” he continued to play with your hair, fingers running through your locks.
“i don’t know, in like a love way. i tried confessing again and i got rejected, again.”
jake’s fingers halted in your hair, eyebrows furrowing before he spoke, “you confessed? to who?” jake bit the inside of his cheek thinking about how you had eyes for everyone else but him—when he was right in front of you.
“some kid from my art class, he’s on your soccer team. i thought he liked me.” you turned to face jake.
it was jake’s turn to sigh, “i know why you’re being rejected all the time.” your head perked up at his statement and you moved closer to listen to him.
would you finally have a cure to this madness?
“i told every boy in the school you were off limits.” jake almost looked proud of himself as he spoke, a small smirk beginning to grow on his lips.
“jake! why would you say that?” you were absolutely appalled to hear that your best friend was the reason behind your nonexistent love life.
“because i’ve been waiting for you to love me back.” jake said it like it was the easiest thing in the world, and to him, loving you was.
for you, you could feel the years of forcing yourself to like someone else other than your best friend brewing. you had told yourself that it wasn’t normal to like your friend—he was a friend for a reason.
jake pulled your chair until you collided with his legs—trapping you between them. “you don’t know how many threats it took for it to actually get through their heads. i couldn’t have someone else taking my girl away from me.” his hand rested on your exposed thigh drawing circles on your warm skin.
“why didn’t you stop me from making a fool of myself to all of those boys?” half of you felt flustered about his confession while the other felt angry—you looked like a idiot!
“oh my god! you were there when i was making those boys all these cookies! do you know how expensive all of that supplies was? you’re paying me back every cent—!”
your words were cut short when jake smashed his lips into yours, he snaked his hand towards your nape to keep you in place as he desperately and longingly kissed you. jake smiled cockily at the way you tried backing away from him but reluctantly melting into him, finding a comfortable pace.
“as your boyfriend, you can cut me some slack, no?” jake rested his forehead on yours after pulling away, softly running the pad of his thumb on your cheek.
