I just got the heartbreaking thought that if Daeron had died when he and Matarys were taken, that Valarr would be wearing mourning black for the rest of his life just like Aegon iii

I can't possibly imagine Valarr ever remarrying, even if the small council all but forced his hand with politics or even if Baelor tried to get him to. So a bit like Baelon with Alyssa, but with the same air of tragedy and depression clinging to him that Aegon iii had for the rest of his life, only finding happiness in small moments with his brother and father, his cousins and uncle being too hard to look at more often than not

Valarr absolutely breaks the day that Egg introduces him to his youngest son Daeron, named after his big brother who they all still miss so, so dearly

Years later when Valarr is lying on his deathbed, after so long since he's lost Daeron, moments before he takes his last breath surrounded by family, he wears a smile genuine and says how he'll finally be reunited with his love again...

Excuse me while I go cry...

I was thinking a lot about if Daeron/Baelor/Matarys all died and how Valarr would be a King forever in grief and mourning but you're right ... even just Daeron dying would accomplish that...... the crown moving to Matarys because Valarr refuses to marry/bed someone else, Daeron never leaving his mind..... retreating to Dragonstone and isolating himself from his cousins/family in his grief.... meeting aegon's baby named Daeron 😭 the grief is neverending but so is the love!!!!! valarr absolutely spoiling the little baby named after his late-wife and ignoring all other nephews/neices/cousins in clear favoritism, lmao.... 😭 no ow... not actively suicidal but so ready to die because he'll see daeron again, you wound me!!!!! i'm wounded!!!!!!!!

This last chapter was so amazing! Full of heartbreak and hope and love and still that linger fear for the future ...ahhhhh!

Drunk Valarr and slightly tipsy Daeron going at it and still being still being so loving with each other (love how Valarr was about to wax poetry about Daeron) was my favorite after all of the angst, that along with the pregnancy confirmation. I hope they get to have as many babies as they want with them and Daeron all being healthy, they deserve it!!!

I don't know what I'm going to do after the last chapter comes out! It's been the highlight of my week since you first posted, it's like I'm saying goodbye to an old friend!

Anyway, love your writing so much and thank you again for taking the time out of your daily life to write this!!!

I love drunk Valarr LOL And the idea of him getting drunk with Maekar is very funny to me, especially given their relationship in the fic. But Valarr being the type of drunk that's very handsy and lovey-dovey is canon to me... 🤭

And yes!! Pregnancy confirmation!!!!!!! Finally LOL I feel like I was edging it along but there was just never time to be confirmed.

I know 😢 Last chapter..... It's such a routine for me right now to post on Wednesday and Sunday that I've no idea that I'll do now (lmao), I'll feel lost!!!!

Okay, okay, okay, I promise I'll stop bothering you until at least the next chapter comes out Sunday, but I was re-reading Valarr's first pov in chapter 2 to see his first reaction to Daeron and how far everything has come since then (I feel like all of the readers have been going thorough a life changing journey here) and I totally forgot this line

"The last male omega to wed a male alpha had occurred in House Baratheon."

Please tell me Lyonel Baratheon has two dads. Please😭

Lmao. Alright, but what I was searching for

"Perhaps this was not Daeron. Perhaps it was the sharper faced shorter brother. Just as he felt more disappointment filling his chest, he was surprised by an action of the tall man.

He smiled.

The tallest son of Maekar, with his red rimmed eyes, smiled. At Valarr. There was no mistaking the recipient of the smile, as he had not done so until his lavender eyes met Valarr's own mismatched hues.

He fell first, he fell harder except Valarr did both at the same time. I remembered that Valarr got distracted by Daeron smiling (Daeron smiling because he thinks it's cute that Valarr is shorter than him😭❤️) but I forgot just how fast he fell

It seriously cracks me up how Valarr went from calling the Maekarlings plain, to being disappointed by Aerion before Aerion ever opens his mouth because he thinks he might be Daeron, to thinking that Daeron, even though he's going though withdraw and is trying his best not to pass out, is handsome. Perfectly composed prince Valarr short circuiting in front of the entire court over Daeron smiling at him for the first time. He was down bad from day one

Re-reading this really just makes it all the more special when Valarr tells Daeron that he loves him more than anything in chapter 18

Seriously, such an amazing fic and I will be re-reading it many times over like a beloved novel

Also that line was to imply that Lyonel has a husband LMAO 😭 But!!! The idea of him having two Dads also works so well for how he is, so it could be taken as anyway you want LMAO

Oh yeah, Valarr fell immediately. It's got a lot to do with the fact that he was being given Daeron. So, essentially, in his mind Daeron was already his -- courting period or not. So he's looking at Daeron not through the lens of a cousin, a friend, a companion, but just as his future wife. And I love the whole hoarding/obsessive Dragon shit so Valarr is an obsessive dragon hoarding his new wife LOL

Also Valarr has bad taste (kidding) he saw that shaking/sweating/pale/thin cousin of his and got heart eyes immediately. Stand up, dude.

Valarr loves Daeron, that obsessively possessive love only festered the more he got to know him 🤤

But I'm glad you've enjoyed those parts!! And the work as a whole honestly 🥺

Alrighty, no need to answer if it's spoilers but since you're going to have other stories in the Covenant universe, will there be more Daeron and Valarr centric fics or one shots that show the aftermath? With the family or just living their life loving each other? Again no need if it's spoilers!!!

I was debating whether or not to say it because I didn't want to bother you or anything but now I feel the need to tell you that in chapter 17 when Dunk found Daeron and Matarys my whole body jerked so hard that I sent my phone flying across the floor. I am that captivated by your writing and this masterpiece of a story. I don't think I've been this hooked on a story since I read the actual asoiaf books

I've also read Daeron and Valarr's first talk in chapter 18 twice now and I've cried both times. It was just so beautiful and heart wrenching. You captured Valarr's shock and numbness to the trauma so well, especially when he realizes that Daeron just wants him to be with him and to share their hurts. And the way that you wrote Daeron's breakdown after having held everything in and having to be strong for so long, was so very realistic

I just love this story so very, very much and I'm both saddened and excited to see how it comes to a close. Thank you so much for writing and sharing it!!!

I do have more plans for more Valarr/Daeron related works in the setting, yeah! A few things that aren't spoilery (Daeron's first heat with Valarr, them traveling together, little moments) and then a few that are spoilers for things that happen in chapter 19 and 20, so I won't mention them LOL As with everything we'll see how far those wants/ideas go but... I do have plans at least.

Awww, offering you some tissues for your tears, at least. 🥺 Valarr being numb and not knowing what to do with it/how to cope with any of this was an important part of his character for me because he's always so composed LOL so, so many terrible things out of his control happening kinda fucked wiht him hard. and all daeorn wanted/needed was his husband to be there with him. daeron's real good at blocking out his own trauma (which is why he doesn't dwell in the narrative too much about his childhood stuff, he's ignoring it with his whole body most of the time) but we all bubble over eventually.

i'm sad to see it come to a close too!!! it's been a while of my twice-weekly updates and i've looked forward to them. i am excited to write/focus on other stuff (including the related things) but it is always sad to end. thank you so much for enjoying it!

This is genuinely such an amazing read, and I feel like if anyone’s hated on this, they seriously lack comprehension. The way you’re able to portray joy, sorrow, love, lust, and the innocence of young characters such as Aegon and Matarys is like amazing. As well as capturing the uniqueness and complex relationship that Aerion and Daeron have.

I’ve cried, laughed, been surprised, and genuinely smiled at your story and I feel like you’re capable of making me feel a new emotion.

Thank you so much for updating so soon, and just wow, you write beautifully, and you understand these characters better than anyone.

Though, I do have a question, do you plan on ending (omg I know it’s ending) the story with like a cliff hanger or with something that feels complete?

I'm so glad you're enjoying the story!! I haven't personally seen/received any hate, but I'm sure people do dislike it. That's the nature of everything, everyone ends up disliking something and it's okay 💜

But I'm glad you enjoy all the different characters and their different emotions! There sure is a lot of... emotions... going on in here, LMAO

The beautiful (and honestly, the most fun) thing about fandom is that everyone interprets characters differently -- especially those who have absolutely no (or very little) personality! I love seeing how eveyerone understands/translates the same characters but I am glad you're enjoying mine!

And now onto your question...

So, in terms of Valarr & Daeron, I think that the ending will be a complete ending? It isn't ending on a cliffhanger for them!! Obviously there will be other things to come for them in the future. But, with the plot of the story, we'vre hit all those beats and completed them by the time the work is done (valarr/daeron marriage, assassination attempts, all of daerons dreams).

Now in terms of the other characters... no LMAO 😭 Baelor & Maekar do not end in a "complete" way (in my opinion) and neither do Duncan and Aerion. That kinda stems from I have plans to write more about them.

But since the fic is meant to be about Valarr & Daeron (with a heavy dash of the others) I hope that answers your question!! Feel free to ask more if you need elaboration, lmao.
