I said this on Twitter but it needs to be said here also.

I’ve seen a lot of bands say “black lives matter,” but I want to know when you’re going to back that up with who you bring out with you on tour. What are you doing to make shows safer for black fans? What are you doing to assist black artists within the scene? When are you going to stop getting dreads or box braids, and listen when fans tell you that’s appropriative? When are you going to push for diversity in your tour lineups? When are you going to call out your racist friends? When are you going to stop bringing them with you on tour? When are you going to stop giving your bands racist names? Where are your compilations for the movement? 

It’s not enough to just say it anymore. You need to do it. Prove that black lives have value to you 24/7/365, because believe it or not, we’re at your shows. We see your lineups. And we’re tired. We’re organizing just to go to a show to make sure we’re not the only POC there. So you tweeting out the hashtag and fighting with your racist fans does nothing for us unless you show your work.

Donald Trump is just liberally throwing around the word “rape”

At a rally in Clairsville, Ohio, Tuesday night, Donald Trump turned the conversation toward rape, specifically the metaphorical “rape of our country.”  Using “rape” as a metaphor for anything else diminishes the reality of the heinous crime — but Trump insisted the word wasn’t too harsh in this case.

Joseph Pemberton was sentenced by a Philippines court to up to 12 years behind bars, but where he will serve his time remains unclear.
