Hi! I’m 0viraptor. You probably know me from Ao3. I’m currently writing “First Time for Everything” (the full story of Ren and Strade’s lives together)

I made this blog for anyone who wants to ask questions or get updates about my writing. Any and all questions are welcome! I’m always up for talking about the characters and games in general too.

I have more stories planned for the future, as well as some I’m already working on. If you like BTD/TPOF, check it out! I have some listed at the end of this post ^^

Hey guys, I have a more depressing post I have to make.

I recently lost my bird Cyrus to West Nile virus. It was a very sudden onset, and although I tried really hard to help him through it, birds are very susceptible and he was ultimately too weak. They get it from mosquitoes, there is no cure, and my sponsor and vet confirmed there was nothing else I could have done besides make sure he was comfortable.

It happened a few days ago but I only feel well enough to share it now that I’ve had some time to grieve. I would just feel weird if I randomly posted about my next bird one day in the future without ever explaining what happened.

Nothings changing as far as my posts, I just felt the need to share since I’ve talked about him on here before. He was an amazing bird, and I hate that it had to end this way, but we had an amazing year together and I’m thankful for that.

I feel like there is a generous possibility of getting away from Derek after the ‘he keeps you’ ending if you play your cards right. Right?

Unfortunately, no.

Derek wasn’t lying when he told you everyone in the house answers to him. It’s a big place, and he has every home worker (either bribed or threatened) who will turn you in if they see you outside of his room. They’re afraid of him, and will do whatever he says to avoid losing their jobs.

Before that, you have to consider that Derek keeps you locked up almost 24/7. Breaking out and sneaking out are almost impossible.

But if you do? He had a tracking device implanted in your arm. He’ll find you again, no matter what.

So you’re pretty doomed. Sorry.

What is your favorite dragon from HTTYD? Or from Game of Thrones / House of the Dragon?

The deathsong! I love Garf especially, but the deathsong as a species has been my favorite since I first watched RTTE.

As for HOTD, I have to say Silverwing is my favorite— I love her sounds/vocalizations, and I just think her overall body and tail shape are a nice design, in addition to her kind nature. Moondancer is a close second.

How might Ren react to an MC that knits him an oversized cardigan and and says, "As long as you wear this, you never have to feel alone again. Put it on if you need a hug even if we're apart."

How might Fox react? Would move him or is he past that point?

It's cringe, I know.

Ren is not only a sucker for sappy gestures, but he’s also incredibly lonely, and starved for genuine affection. He would love if someone did this for him, and he would grow quickly attached to that person. He would wear it, and sleep with it in his nest whenever he isn’t.

Fox would be more mentally distanced from the interaction. He’d probably thank you and call you sweet, but not think much of it at first. He may not even use it to begin with, but he might hold it when he’s alone and think about what you said. However, it’s unlikely the two of you will ever be apart aside from his work.

Do you think the guys from BTD and TPOF would also wear a shock collar (Just like Ren's) on MC if they kept them? Specifically Lawrence...

Lawrence- likes the security aspect of the collar, but the issue is he doesn’t trust it enough— he’d be paranoid at work that you’d find a way to dismantle it, or shut off the electrical grid, or break it somehow— he’d rather have a solid way to keep you captive, like cutting off your limbs.

Sano- I think Sano would like that, but he would definitely prefer a less bulky design than Strade’s.

Akira- if he’s going to ‘keep’ someone, it would only be if he’s in a genuine relationship with them, so no.

Vincent- Yes, he loves collars on his MC (just ask Farz) and the electricity is just a fun bonus.

Cain- no, he’d rather keep you with magic. The collar is too amateur for him.

Rire- same with Cain, he just has much better (and more fun) ways of keeping you contained.

Derek- yes, he absolutely would, and he would abuse the power it gives him. Oh, you bled on his carpet? You’re crying too loud? Even breathing too loud? That’s what the shock collar is for! Meaningless punishment!

Celia- Celia would love this concept as well, and would use it as a training tool much like her taser. She also likes how it dehumanizes you in a way.

Mason- no. If he’s keeping you, he trusts you, and it’s also plainly impractical with you both living out in the woods.

Well, he likes it because it’s new— it’s rare he finds someone with qualities like that, being so straightforward and honest. It definitely interests him at first. He likes that he’s able to catch MC off guard when it comes to romantic things. He would take great pleasure in flustering them.

However, it can get boring over time. Because of the straightforwardness, there’s less for him to coax out of you with fear, and thus less surprises to keep the relationship interesting long term.

It’s possible it could work, but I think most likely they’d become a prized soul in his collection.

Hii!! I love your work so much! I was just wondering how Strade would react to a captive breaking things like, the tv, a chair, etc?

Hello, thank you!! It depends what it is. Generally, he’s more intrigued by your behavior than angry that you broke something— however, he would get understandably upset if you smashed the tv for example.

If it was something lesser like a chair, he wouldn’t be mad (he’s actually interested to see how much violent energy you have pent up) but he has to protect his stuff at least a little! He’ll probably restrain you in some way until you ‘learn your lesson’, but he’s not that upset with you, he just has to do what he has to do.

Do u think having cold sores/stds would affect fox/ren in keeping u or loving u? He is pretty sexual and clingy so i think it has to be affected someway

Not really. If he really wants you, he’s determined either way. It may play a part if he’s just met you, but if he’s kidnapped you then he’s already too invested to change his mind.

For one, he knows cold sores aren’t the same strain of virus as the STD, so he doesn’t care about that. He just won’t kiss you on the lips until it’s gone, no big deal.

Actual STIs might be more annoying, because he doesn’t want to catch them, but he also can’t give up sex completely. Ren doesn’t typically use condoms with a permanent MC (he would in a normal relationship if you asked, but he’s so used to Strade just doing whatever he wanted without any protection) but he would start using them and maybe other protection with you to avoid transmitting anything.

It’s a little annoying for him, but he’ll find a way. He certainly isn’t scared away by it.

Is there a difference in how the btd/tpof characters would treat you depending on your weight or does it not change anything at all.

Not really. Aside from Lawrence and Celia who would canonically prefer a chubbier captive, no one really cares too much. It’s about what’s inside that matters! Which is of course your personality, not the blood and guts or anything—

“Love thy neighbor.” Do you think Derek has neighbors beside his estate? Or does he really live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere.

I think technically there are other expensive buildings in the neighboring properties, but Derek’s property is so large you can’t see them from the estate, so they don’t feel like neighbors.

They are mostly surrounded by open land though (even though the land is owned and maintained, there aren’t any suburbs or anything too close by)

I have a genuine question, the cast of BTD2/TPOF/YKMET If they had a somewhat close or trusting relationship with the MC who is a doctor in an ER, would they let the MC cure them or let MC cure Themselves?

Pretty much every character wouldn’t care about MC tending to their own injuries, so this is more about MC tending to them.

Strade- would let them; he can be kind of careless, he might even ask a regular MC for help if he needed it.

Ren- only if he really trusted you, but yes, he’d let you.

Lawrence- He would prefer if you didn’t, he doesn’t like being at someone else’s mercy like that. Plus, you might discover that his body is different and he’d fear that you’d notice it’s ‘wrong’.

Sano- only if you were his science/lab partner, otherwise he’d do it himself.

Akira- I think he would, yes.

Vincent- he would; he actually has a surprising amount of trust for doctors since they essentially gave him his life back and taught him everything over again.

Cain and Rire- both no, because they have stronger/more reliable healing abilities themselves.

Derek- no, he wouldn’t trust you with that, even if you were somehow close. He thinks you have an ulterior motive of some kind.

Celia- no, she also lacks a bit of trust for something so vulnerable, unless the two of you run away together and have been with each other for a long time.

Mason- yes, and I think he would find your skills very useful since you both live off the grid.

YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ARCHIVING SO MUCH STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot express to you how highly I value the preservation of information, i love you so much. How did you find all of this stuff? Did you just happen to save it, or is there a database somewhere? Is there any lost media that remains to be found, or blogs still left to explore?

You’re very welcome!! I’m glad so many people enjoy my archives, I didn’t think they’d be so popular when I started.

Whenever I’m interested in something, I like to collect the canon facts about that thing just to have at my disposal, to look at whenever I want, and in this case to help me write the characters more accurately. So, I had been saving every stray post I saw reblogged here or re-posted there ever since I got into the fandom.

I realized I had a lot of posts about Ren and threw them together in an archive post for the heck of it, assuming a few writers would feel the same as me and would enjoy having access to them.

I had no idea they’d get so popular, or how helpful they would be to people, but I’m overjoyed to be able to help others in the fandom by collecting this stuff. It’s something I enjoy, and I’m happy others enjoy it too ^^

There is no one place where I find information— I know a few blogs that archive some individual posts from the BTD/BTD2 time period, but many of the things I have archived are collected one by one when I find random reblogs in weird places. I also search the internet archive and other places where old content can be found. It takes a lot of time and effort (which is why making new archive posts after my initial stash was posted is so slow)

There are definitely still things I don’t have, but I’m always searching. I still have some archives to finish and upload too, so I don’t consider anything ‘lost’ just yet :)

Do you think cetacean beastkins exist in the BTD universe? Personally, I don't think so, because then the beastkin would have to be constantly in the water to keep the whale-skinned areas cool and prevent them from drying out.

I think it’s possible! Technically, any kind of beastkin is possible as long as somewhere in history a human and animal decided to make that pact which combined them. So yeah, it’s probably not the most convenient, but it’s definitely possible.

I imagine them to be more reclusive than other beastkins. Kind of like how Ren lived in a fox beastkin colony, they likely live in groups in coastal areas, away from humans— and most likely have a more rural lifestyle (since they have to incorporate staying wet into their daily routine) unlike Ren, who has no problem blending in with humans.

Do you think someone from TPOF would have some French accent? I think someone got to be from the part of Canada where people mainly speak French

Personally I don’t think so. It’s possible, but I feel like if someone did live in those areas, it would affect their dialogue— even though you can’t always indicate an accent in writing, I think it would affect the things they say/terms they use at least slightly. And Gato might have mentioned something about that.

So canonically I don’t think so, but of course you’re welcome to believe that if you want! Just because it isn’t confirmed doesn’t mean it’s wrong :)

I read somewhere that you have raptor, a red tail hawk.

I got a silly question about birds which is unrelated to any Gatoverse game.

Have you played angry birds games before? and what is your favorite character? My favorite is Silver (not the movie version)

I do! And I have, but never enough to get super involved or learn the character names. I played the angry birds / Rio crossover game a long time ago before it was removed from the app store. I don’t really have a favorite character, sorry, but my favorite in the game was the little blue ones that split into multiple birds.
