The owl of Nuiselle was going to appear on the comic pages I was sketching, so I needed to refresh my mind on its proportions. ^^

Funfact : Barn owls don’t “ hoo “ as most owls tend to do. Instead they screech! Their own little language!

Barn owls are one of the most broadly distributed spesices of owl , infact you kind find them pretty much anywhere! It’s present in America + Canada , Most europian countries aswell as Latin American counties. Pretty much anywhere with grass lands (that is their habitat ). So you won’t be seeing any of these guys in the dessert or anything like that.

Wild barn owls mainly feed on small mammals. Mice , squirrels , shrews etc are their main prey. Prey that they swallow WHOLE the majority of the time. Cute face, not so cute way of eating.

Been doing bird studies to practice gouache, though I think I still treat it too much like watercolor. It's been fun though! One of my first oil paintings was from the same ref image I used for the barn owl so it was cool to revisit that!
