me: I love that The Testament of Ann Lee portrays Ann as having been a sex-repulsed aroace all along, as opposed to it being purely the product of negative experiences or societal scruples around sex. It’s refreshing for me to see this lifestyle taken seriously rather than portrayed as a fraught, tormented sacrifice for everyone involved, or something only embraced due to fanaticism, repression, or trauma.
