before your daughter was born, levi swore he wouldn't get emotional. the man was convinced he wouldn't even cry at the birth. throughout your marriage you'd only seen levi cry once, and that was on your wedding night, so this wasn't hard to believe. but once your daughter was born, what he was once so sure of was proven wrong. he bawled. he just couldn't understand how someone so perfect could exist.
you let him be the first to hold her. seeing his reaction to her there was no way you couldn't. that day in the hospital, while he held your baby, that was the most love and vulnerability you'd ever seen in levi's eyes.
when you guys got home, he insisted upon you resting. so . . . he always had your daughter. not that you minded, really. it was nice seeing him so devoted to her (and it was also nice getting to relax a bit while your body healed).
levi made sure you pumped so that your baby girl could be fed even if you were out or sleeping, and if you couldn't, he'd make sure you're always stocked up on formula.
at night, when the baby cries, levi's already out of bed before you can even open your eyes. making his way to your daughter's room to see what's wrong with his sweet girl.
you'd think that he'd calm down the older she gets, but no. he's still with her 24/7, and now it's by your daughter's choice. she is the daddy's girl, and levi loves it. her first word was "dada" and when levi heard it he sobbed again, just like he did at the hospital. he was inconsolable that night, and he curled up in your arms crying tears of joy until he eventually fell asleep.
he takes your daughter everywhere with him, but it's mostly because she doesn't like when he leaves without her. it took months for her to be okay with the fact that her daddy had to go to work without her, and for those few months the house was hell from 8 to 6. your daughter would flip her shit if her father wasn't there when she called for him, and all you could say was, "mommy misses daddy too, baby."
things only got worse when your daughter started going to school. she always had the best school supplies because "whatever daddy's princess wants, she gets." she got homecooked lunches everyday because levi would pack them to make sure she ate (he also packed food for you. you weren't left hanging).
one day, levi was on a business trip so you had to pack her lunch instead of him, and she saw you do it and insisted that it had to be levi who did it or it wouldn't be right. so . . . you sent her upstairs and called her back down, saying that it was something levi made for her before he left. it wasn't, but it worked.
when she got a phone, she'd constantly text during the school day and ask to be picked up. you'd say no unless she was sick or really having a bad day, but then you'd be surprised when you got home and both her and your husband were already there . . . "sorry," he'd whisper while he kissed your temple, "just couldn't tell her no." and for some reason you could never be mad.
it goes without saying that levi adores your daughter . . . and overly spoils her. but it's okay because that's honestly all you could ask for from him, and you got that and more.
