Dear Rumours Five, I’m still struggling with what’s happened to my favourite band. I haven’t listened to your music since you sacked Lindsey. Not one single song. I just can’t. Not sure I’ll ever be able to again. Just so you know, I used to listen to you all the time. All day, every day, Fleetwood Mac.

The new ‘Fleetwood Mac’ tour is about to kick off & rather than my usual excitement, I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness. You’re playing Nashville - a city this Aussie would love to visit - on my (milestone) birthday next year. If my 5 fireflies were still together, I’d be there with bells on! Looks like I’ll be celebrating elsewhere. I can’t come to grips with the new lineup & have no interest in hearing Heartbreakers or Crowded House songs at your show.

For me, Fleetwood Mac has always been about the magic & about my love for Buckingham Nicks. My heart will always be team Buckingham Nicks even though my head knows you’ll never be that team again. I’ve been lucky enough to stand at your feet & witness your magic several times. There’s absolutely nothing like it. the chemistry, the tension, the intensity - the goosebumps. I want the drama. I want the soap opera. I don’t want to see you sing your songs to a new band member who shares none of your history. That’s meaningless.

Please don’t yell at me the reasons I should get over this. I’ve heard them all before ... ‘they’re just a band’ ... ‘Fleetwood Mac is always evolving’ ... ‘Stevie wasn’t happy’ ... ‘Lindsey has left before’ ... ‘the band owes you nothing’ ... ‘all their interactions were fake’ ...

You were my band. You got me through stuff. I wanted the big farewell tour.

I hate the fan wars that have erupted because of this. I hate the name calling and total ignorance of the facts. As far as I’m concerned old & new Fleetwood Mac, your integrity is in question here. I can’t reconcile in my head long time fans not having an issue with this. It’s even harder for me to comprehend that many have bought tickets not knowing your lineup has changed. I guess with the videos used to promote the tour it’s understandable.

I feel the best I can hope for now is that as time passes, this tour will be long forgotten and the legacy of the Rumours lineup & particularly the two Americans who changed the face of the band forever, will prevail. 💔
