OBSESSED.
THIS FRIDAY
[with Jordan!]
From lost to found
My goal 3 months ago was to be out of Florida and onto a better life before I turned 25.
Well as of today, I live in beautiful Chicago, have tons of friends, received a full-time job that I looooove (Preschool teacher!), started dating again, have friends coming into town to visit (Jordan, 5 days! woohoo!), saw Brett Dennen in concert last month, am going to see Owl City at the Aragon Ballroom next week, and came home to lots of packages on my doorstep BECAUSE...
I turn 25 in just three days.
LIFE GOAL ACHIEVED! Oh how everything has changed since I have started my tumblr. It is so interesting to go back and read all my entries. What a great documentation of past, present, and what is sure to be a crazy future ahead. But today I document that I am so very happy. So very very blessed.
Next goal, meet the man of my dreams :) Haha, let's do it. John Mayer where are you...
Chris Thile ♥
Ezra Miller, where have you been all my life?
My new love. And a TOTAL cross between Ben Barnes and Edward Furlong (in the good ol' days before he was fat and crazy). Right?
p.s. I love the name Ezra.
OK SO......I'm back.
So much has happened.
So much has changed.
I've missed you.
Updates soon.
xo Christa.
!!!
Went and saw Brett Dennen last night in concert with Sam at The Vic and it was AMAZING!
Was out til 5am last night exploring the city and partying with all my new friends! SO MUCH FUN!
John (the boy I've mentioned here a few times) walked me home and professed his love for me and kissed me :) :) :) (AHHH!!!)
I had an amazing couple of job interviews for a huge casting and production agency downtown across from Grant Park!
Mikey and I are starting to get closer, which is going to get complicated with John now in the picture...but OMG! 2 boys that I absolutely adore! It's a problem that I'd like to have, honestly...
My mom is buying me an air conditioner for my place! WOOHOO!
Took Teddy on his first walk around the neighborhood this afternoon and it went so well! He was calm and stayed on the sidewalk, and it was beautiful outside with the breeze blowing and the birds chirping. People stopped to tell me how cute my dog was and were oh so sweet...I'm gonna take him on another one in a few hours :)
and it's ONLY BEEN 13 DAYS!!!!! The best decision I ever made was moving to Chicago. So glad I decided to roll the dice...
*However, I am getting so busy and involved with so many things that Tumblr is probably not going to last much longer for me. It has done what I needed it to do, act as an outlet while I went through the struggle to realize my dream...and now, I just don't really need it anymore. It is almost turning into a chore so I am not sure what will happen from this point on since I am never really online anymore. I'm out livin life! Thanks for the support Tumblr and friends, but your little girl is growing up ;)
Me. I like this pic :)
My first full week in CHICAGO.
In just the past week, I have:
Moved into a beautiful apartment in the city.
Met an amazing guy, had a few dates. Will be having many more ♥
Had my new friends over for wine and art hanging.
Went over to a friend's house and made a huge dinner with everyone there like a giant family :)
Hit the bars and had a great time exploring the city with my friends.
Met tons of new people.
Applied for some jobs...I need to do better with this but I just can't focus. This may come back to haunt me.
Found someone to go to Owl City with me in July! MAGGIE MAE!
Blown a fuse in my apartment and I can't fix it...janitors out. Can't find the box.
Microwaved stuff on the floor due to the fuse thing...
Had a new friend surprise me at my new apartment with a bottle of wine and some helping hands to put my new bed frame together
Saw John. He looked great. Called me sweetheart. Don't know what will happen there.
Got lost on the El train.
Smelled fresh, beautiful spring air with almost no humidity whatsoever.
Found my first ever favorite mixed drink. It has no name and was created by my new friend Sam. Whipped cream flavored vodka and Redbull. DELICIOUS.
Hopefully getting cable installed today (for the first time in a very very long time! No more TV online! YES!)
All in all, a damn good week and a total 180 since just 2 weeks ago. Praise the Lord.
I'm finally here...and it feels like home.
Finally in CHICAGO! Yes, after counting down over 6 months, I am finally sitting comfortably in my beautiful apartment on the north side of Chicago.
My mom and I had the roadtrip of a lifetime, complete with many laughs and what seemed like endless meaningful talks. Along the 21 hour ride we encountered semis on fire, cars in trees, bears, heavy traffic jams in the hills of West Virginia, and so much more. Then my mom almost killed like a family of 7 in Chicago because it was SO INTENSE on the roads! Seriously, I am lucky to be alive.
We thought we were running late but then all of a sudden our clocks changed back an hour putting on right on schedule! Yay time zone changes! We met with the movers right on time, and thank God too. You see, as soon as the movers pull up, a young man gets out of the van and he is seriously like one of the cutest guys I have ever seen. Well lo and behold by the end of the moving, we exchange numbers and then yesterday he called me for a date! I instantly met someone, can you believe it? I LOVE THIS PLACE! Haha
His name is Miguel (go figure) but he goes by Mikey. Our date tonight was exactly what I needed. He was an absolute gentlemen and so sweet and funny. We were laughing and talking the whole time. We went out to see Pirates of the Caribbean (which I couldn't concentrate on AT ALL so I didn't really get any of it...there was a mermaid or something, and at some point Penelope Cruz was dressed up like a man...) and then just drove around and talked. We are so opposite in so many ways, but it's a good kind of opposite. Honestly he is a type I don't usually go for...he is like pretty muscular and intimidating (I usually like guys like Cillian Murphy, Rainn Wilson, Paul Iacono....so pretty much the complete opposite). He was born and raised in Chicago and was so interesting to talk to. We come from totally different walks of life. I felt comforted having him on my arm. Plus, he is so so so cute. He is also a few years younger than me (yikes?!) but honestly he is really mature and very "to each their own", such a gracious personality, very humble (and Christian! YES!), and there was so much physical attraction. I like when a guy takes charge and the girl doesn't have to do all the work.
That being said, he totally kissed me in the movie. And it was wonderful :) I needed to feel the way I feel now so badly, I am holding onto every last touch and thought of when we were holding hands. It was so genuine and I just can't believe it. One week ago I lived in Florida, had no friends, lived in a shitty apartment, hadn't been in a relationship for over a year, super depressed, etc...and now I am in beautiful Chicago, living in a neighborhood that is so fantastic, with my friends coming over tomorrow, and a guy in my life that I just only met but can't stop thinking about.
And that my friends, is the power of prayer.
Happy Birthday, Cillian Murphy.
<3
1 more day!
Hayesville to Dayton to Palm Beach to Chicago. It sure has been a long road since Hillsdale High School! Singing "Breakaway" so much back then is all flooding back to me...well Kelly Clarkson, I did it! lol. So blessed to be able to try new things, make changes, and enjoy the journey. :)
Even though I have been counting down the days for months, I still can't believe tomorrow I will be picking my mom up from the airport and then it is off to Chicago! So excited to have Florida just be a place I sometimes vacation...
Of course I am worried about a lot of things...what happens if the moving truck isn't big enough? What happens if it breaks down? What happens if my apartment isn't what I thought it would be? What if it's raining like crazy? What if I can't find a good job?
Well you know what, WHO CARES? The show must go on. I will be taking this amazing journey across the country with my incredible mother and adorable little dog. Who knows when I will get this chance to spend time like this with her again?!!! It is going to be quite an adventure and I will not spend the entire time worrying about what ifs. I've moved so many times before and the Lord has never let me down and He never will. I have an amazing opportunity to grow from everything I have gone through and start my life over again in a place I love with people I love and with a family that is so loving and supportive.
Instead I will look forward to everything. Seeing my mom at the airport, going to dinner at The Old Key Lime House on the water tomorrow night, taking a cross-country road trip of a lifetime, seeing my little cousins this weekend when we stop in Columbus, driving to my beautiful new apartment in Chicago that I got all by myself, decorating with my mom, meeting up with my friends in the city as a first time Chicagoan, and finding a job that is meant for me.
I've learned so much while living in Florida, and although I was never meant to stay, I was brought here for a reason and now I must move on.
Here's to the future...
I took this tonight while watching the storm roll into West Palm Beach. Lucky shot for my little Sony point & shoot! Ahh thunderstorms :)
.+*3 days until the EPIC cross country road trip with my mother to move myself from Southern Florida to Chicago! I should be packing, but instead I am taking pictures of lightning and about to watch 28 Days Later. Don't judge.*+.
The sweetest video I have seen in a very long time.
Precious ♥
So...OMG!
The boy I went with to homecoming AND prom in high school (who was also my best friend and my first boyfriend) who recently came out of the closet, called me tonight after finding me on facebook. It's been 5 years since we have talked.
We were on the phone for almost 5 hours.
5 FUCKING HOURS!
Do I win something for that? Trophy? Medal? KEY TO THE CITY?
When I say that I am a talker, I am not lying. We were reminiscing and catching up with each other so beautifully. Talking about such poignant topics in one moment, only to be in tears over laughing so hard the next. What an incredible pair we have always been and will continue to be. It feels like not a day has passed.
What an awesomely odd night!
This is my dog, Teddy Mercury.
Just try and beat his cuteness, I dare you.
Mildly unconventional instruments, great contrast, nice expressions and posing...I absolutely love this picture, regardless of who's in it.
Even though Chris does look super cute :)
