What I like about the apothecary diaries is that Maomao is surrounded by other women who care about her and are always trying to help her get ahead however they can. And she understands this!!! The thing that really hurts me the most is realizing that Fengxian still has her wits with her when Rakan came back after the 3 years absence.

That she was embarrassed about her physical state that she chose to hide from the man that she loves until the disease got her completely.

I’ve always thought that them not meeting in time is because she’s already mentally gone and can no longer remember.

Oh but she did.

She still remember him and she still love him but she is so heartbroken about her appearance that she doesnt want him to see her in that state and that would have been really painful.

I have a theory that the person reading the letter at the beginning is actually satokos guard, bc obviously its a man who is reading the letter but it doesn’t feel like it’s shinpei and i feel like satoko thought of the guard as her friend whom she could share her thoughts with and maybe he was the only one she could truthfully confide in after her death
