Progress
I had the excess soil removed, and the area leveled and gravel (crushed rock) spread over the surface, and have started to build a rock wall to retain the leveled lawn area. I was lucky to have my father in law, Steve AKA Big Chief AKA Coach Stevo to help out.
I prepared an area behind my shed, an built a cool room for my brother and I to undertake our wine making project. The cool room is built from foam core panels, engineered to maintain a consistent internal temperature. This helps the wine making work a lot.
We had the new fence and retaining wall installed by a contractor, then I ran new water to the house, and laid irrigation lines in the same trench to feed water to the lawn that I will put in there later. Then I planted ornamental capital pears, to give shade, and a bit more privacy.
Removing the ‘hedge’ on the right hand side of the house. We disposed of 15 Tonne of timber, and 27 Tonne of soil to get the area down to our grass level.
Pouring the new front porch slab, which I set up to double as a footing, which stabilizes the house to avoid movement that we were getting along the front - seen by the cracks here and there.
