Let's Not Forget...

Here are a short list of people involved in 1916 who were interested in the same gender: Elizabeth O'Farrell Julie Grenan Dr. Kathleen Lynn Madeleine ffrench-Mullen Helena Moloney (Bisexual) Roger Casement And some would also argue Pádraig Pearse. Obviously this is probably not everyone. But there is evidence to prove these specific people were attracted to the same sex. DO NOT ERASE THESE PEOPLE'S ORIENTATION FROM HISTORY.

Born Grace Gifford, she was a political cartoonist during the time of the Easter Uprising in Dublin. She fell in love with one of the leaders, Joseph Plunkett, who she married in Kilmainham Gaol only several hours before his execution. She continued to support the cause during the Irish War of Independence and was even jailed in Kilmainham for her support of the Anti-Treaty movement. She was also a complete BAMF.

Just To Clarify...

I’ve not been posting much about 1916 because today is not the official anniversary of 1916. Nor is tomorrow. The anniversary of the 1916 Rising is on the 24th of April. I don’t know about you, but I will be feeling pretty proud that day. I will also be spamming pretty hard, haha.

In all seriousness, today is a day of great reflection for the Irish people and those who have come to us. Today we have the means to better consider the events of the 1916 rising than many of those who have gone before, and we should take our time to understand what happened, or take our own meaning or pride from it. It is important to remember the Rising in its entirety, its successes and its failures, the aspects we like and the ones we don’t.

The 1916 Easter Rising was chaos, it was disorganised, and even in 2016 we have a lot to do for our country, but we can still feel the rousing pang of pride when we consider how far we’ve come, and how much we can do from here.

Irish revolutionary and hot piece of ass. One of the leaders of the 1916 Rising. Executed by firing squad for his role in the rebellion one hundred years ago this May, aged 33.
