Remember her?
My voice is raised in emphasis. It's a perfectly legitimate use of volume.
- Eddie (Sean Penn), Hurlyburly
Lucinda Williams - "Joy" Released June 30th.
The White Stripes were signed to Italy Records and released their first single, "Let's Shake Hands" in March 1998.
Air - "Kelly Watch The Stars" Directed by Mike Mills, released April 1998.
Released January 16th.
Khakis Swing. Directed by Matthew Rolston.
Joaquin Phoenix in Return To Paradise.
Christina Ricci and Casey Affleck in Desert Blue.
Soundtrack for Harmony Korine's Gummo released June 29th. I thought most of it was Slayer. I was wrong.
The "Spite Marriage" sketch from Mr. Show, airing during its final season on December 7th.
I first saw Mr. Show the year ended, but what a year it was. It had some of its best writing and performances, with too many notable sketches to name. Fortunately most of the cast moved on to do amazing things. However, they put together my favorite sketch show of all time.
After debuting on What A Cartoon! (fighting FUZZY LUMPKINS) The Powerpuff Girls get their own show. And it's fantastic. The show debuted on November 18th.
Fiona Apple - "Across The Universe" (from the Pleasantville soundtrack) Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, released September 1998. Look for the John C. Reilly cameo near the end.
Paul Rudd in Overnight Delivery. One of the best screams in cinema history.
Jonathan Richman in There's Something About Mary. Don't know who Jonathan Richman is? Seriously, guys. Seriously...
