Statement Caldwells

i didn't realize that the reason the Paul Caldwell was asking was for money was because he had been, according to reddit, living in one of Joe and Kendra's properties rent free. And extracting A LOT from one two sentences Kendra said to Joe on a call, it seems the Caldwells are fully out of the Duggars good graces.

Reddit is divided on if Paul works as a mechanic as a dealership or is unemployed.

What reddit seems certain of is that snarking on the Caldwell's politics is a witty addition to the conversation. Multiple iterations of "well it's TOO BAD they vote against GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE meant for people on HARD TIMES."

yeah, if the Caldwell's held completely different political beliefs, they wouldn't be in this situation. that is an accurate observation.

The Caldwell's didn't single handedly strike down welfare options in Arkansas. AR DHS still offers these benefits. The Caldwell's just won't take them.

but these people, who, i would assume based on the demographic of fundie snarkers, consider themselves progressive liberals, are showing the same lack of understanding about welfare programs as ultraconservatives: they are actually difficult to get approved for in any substantial way.

People are told to sell their vehicle to have cash for groceries before being denied assistance. Or being approved for $17 a month in SNAP. You have to submit proof of applications and attend job fairs if you are using unemployment benefits. Welfare programs are not guardian angles that swoop in with no strings attached full support you in your time of need. They operate like any other US government agency, for better and for worse.

Trying to use the existence of Welfare programs as a weird virtue signal checkmate on reddit is showing some real basic ignorance.

Do you think it means something that Michelle bailed kendra out?

Not sure, I'm pretty sure Kendra and her kids were with the Duggars before her arrest and it doesn't surprise me they bailed her out, I assumed Jim Bob or someone probably would. Maybe they sent Michelle for better optics or sympathy from the press.

It is interesting to me that whenever a Duggar boy gets in trouble, his family is immediately absorbed into The Compound indefinitely (does anyone know if were Kendra and Joe still living there before all this? I know they did at one time). I guess it's probably easier to keep the press and onlookers away with their gate and security measures, and to be fair they probably have more space for the kids than your average huge fundie family does. I just think if it were me, I'd rather go be with my own parents and family during that time even if it were a little inconvenient.

I’ve been wondering this as I remember the Caldwells had that falling out with the Duggars. Also given how unsafe the Duggar family is, I would think Kendra would have gone to her parents…I wonder what the Caldwells know and are thinking

Every time the Duggars are revealed to be terrible, a lot of more-casual viewers pop up with incorrect information. A lot of it is mixing up teachings of IBLP with the FLDS (kinda understandable, both were big weird cults that got a lot of press in the 2000's), or just mixing up details about their past (again, I get it - most people aren't in as deep on these people).

But I am such a know-it-all that I really have to feel restraint to not comment on these tiktoks with thousands of likes to say "um actually... ☝️🤓"

Kendra Duggar turns herself in, 4 counts of false imprisonment and child endangerment

Kendra Duggar (née Caldwell) has been charged with 4 counts of child endangerment, second degree, and 4 counts of false imprisonment, second degree. She turned herself in then posted bail for a total amount of $1470.

These charges usually mean that she has not given CPS access to her children, most likely for interviews. She could choose not to do that for many reasons.

She looks like she's been crying a lot, and it kind of broke my heart. I can't imagine what it's like to be raised in a cult with very little means to escape. No job prospect.

The only people capable of getting her out are the reason she's in it in the first place.

When I first saw four counts my stomach dropped because I was like - 4 counts, 4 kids.

It’s heartbreaking

I am so scared to learn that they did something horrible to those little kids. My knee jerk response to hearing "unlawful imprisonment" was that it was related to punishment, just because we've seen that more than a few times with similar situations (Ruby Franke, for example).

It's just awful, it needs to come out to expose them absolutely, but it just makes me so goddamn sad.

Kendra has been arrested. This is insane.

Imagine your husband is a predator and preys on children the same age as your little sister and his niece. All of the Duggar Boys' hard drives need checking.

It is just............ sigh. @rockerbanshee brought up a good point in the notes about Amy's interview with Cults to Consciousness, where she talked about Jim Bob's dad being an unsafe person in that way. And I hate to speculate about this kind of thing but child sexual abuse is so goddamn common in the fundie world, it's impossible for me to not notice patterns: when multiple kids from a family, esp one like the Duggars (isolated, conservative, repressive, large) act out in this way, there's almost always some common source.

But who knows how many predators JB and Michelle let around their kids throughout their lives, hell some were their best friends. Maybe they supported those people because they're unsafe in that way themselves. Like I know we all had a feeling it wasn't just Josh, but this is confirmation whatever fucked him up was not an isolated incident and it just all gives me a pit in my stomach.

I really forget that Travis and Katie have like........ actual fans. And that they're all super Christian.

This girl seems young so I don't wanna roast her too hard but being mad at Travis for cheating because you spent $40 on his CDs is the most homeschooled evangelical thing I've heard in a long time 😭
