so as you know i tend not to like vocalize how much i kin yuya outloud, but god, these episodes always make me feel overwhelming sadness. every time its revealed its like a part of me doesnt want it to be true even though i know it is.

the feelings about zarc always become very fresh in those moments, even though ive gotten over it now, its like everything you knew about yourself shattering in that instance and it NEVER feels nice!!!

So I have a lot of thoughts about this show but I’m too nervous to share some of my hot takes or headcanons because I may come across as bias or something but uhhh here’s some I’m willing to share.

Not sure if hot take or not but yuzu was protag material and should have shared the spotlight more with Yuya. In fact all the girls were treated horribly in the show and deserved better.

The synchro arc was fine, the show just needed more eps for xyz and in general.

While the legacy characters were cool I think they relied on them too much especially with the synchro arc. Kaito was done better but kinda sucks they just up and deleted his brother.

While the whole make baby reira laugh ending was weird, I think the ending has its merits, and leaves things ambiguous enough that people can draw whatever conclusion they want from it. Aka whether Zarc moved on or is in some capacity still around, how often Yuya communicates with the other boys, if yuzu is capable of the same, and what yuyas status as partially a duel monster/dragon entails. Or even outside of that: the dimensions being connected but not fused. I feel like there’s a lot there to work with.

Xyz arc had the chance to really say something and didn’t.

Show needed more slice of life episodes and a slower burn.

As far as head canons… uh none I’m comfortable sharing so that’s it
