This meme references the movie Get Out, The character changes from being a loving girlfriend to attempting to murder her boyfriend. The girl and her family are racists and use black people as bodies to continue living forever. This demonstrates the underlying and unexpected racism of citizens.

Black or White

In a world where blacks face daily racism

A certain sect of whites show their true fascism

When “don’t shoot” turns to “I cant breathe”

Whites say “go back to Africa, just leave”

Black lives matter tries to fight back,

But no one that matters gives a fuck if you’re black.

The media shows us this everyday

However, the fight has just started I say.

It is time to start fighting the stereotypes

Don’t give into the white supremacist hype.

Opposing viewpoints clash on the daily

Sometimes kids can’t even get home safely.

My hope is that one day this will end

This quote is simply ridiculous. Ross Gay is quoting a white woman who is telling this to the black man she is dating. This quote is full of racism, hate, and preposterous stereotypes. Since the man she is dating is successful, dresses “nicely”,  and does not hit women, he is “not a real black man”. This is insulting to him, but is incredibly racist towards black people. in her mind, a black man should be “hood”, a woman beating, deadbeat dad. This quote is incredibly eye opening and demonstrates people that think this way (sadly) still think this way.

The ending of the alright video demonstrates the power of police and discrimination that occurs. A shaved head man(white supremacist?) shoots a black man doing no harm. The policeman has so much power in this scene that he does not need a real weapon, he can simply point his fingers and do all the damage in the world.

Rihanna’s lyrics promote the American Dream. She tells us that anything you set your mind to can be achieved.  This lyric emphasizes everything in the entire song. The fact that you can be an american without being “born in the USA”. Your individuality and strive for greatness makes you american, and America makes that possible.
