i just saw a friend creates rusviet comics and this gets me thinking about them again ๐ค
previously, during the Vietnam-no-harem era, RusViet was quite popular in the vietnamese community. but AmeViet was the ship that is popular among hetalia fans in general (including vietnamese fans).
historically, RusViet has potential to be one of the healthiest ship, with those hashtag #fluff #slow_burn #adorable #friends_to_lovers #idiots_to_lovers #soulmate and all.
if we only consider their personalities, they could have good dynamic with each other, which makes me really want to see them interact in manga.
and tbh, i prefer rusviet as platonic love than romantic love. but it's fine either way to me.
here are some analysis based on canon information (and some obvious things ๐):
Viet is quite shy but she's tough, considerate and caring (big sis energy), while Rus is that lonely kid who barely makes friends. Rus would be the one open up first with his cheerful personality and start the conversation with Viet. Viet is a tough girl and due to their great relationship, Viet would care deeply for Rus and would give him her company as they hang out.
bonding over "America is so annoying" thing.
they both have that unexpectedly quirky vibe. Viet looks like a very serious person, but she is also the winner of America's halloween party with her robot costume ๐ค and she enjoys games too. so Viet would listen to Rus' weird or even terrifying ideas. she might be judging, but she has a soft spot for Rus, i'm sure. and Rus would be surprised to see Viet actually do something doesn't fit her at all.
Rus gets softer when he's tipsy, while Viet (might) go full beast, wild and unpredictable if she gets drunk. this is controversial to their usual presence which is funny.
Rus puts a lot of sugar into his tea and Viet puts a lot of condensed milk into her cafe โ so they just enjoy their sweet drinks.
both of them would be protective over the other. Rus admires Viet's strength but he'd love to do things for Viet and vice versa.
everytime they visit each other, Rus would receive a T-shirt of famous places in vietnam with nรณn lรก, and Viet would receive vodka as souvenir.
their love languages are act of service & gift-giving.
Viet's serious face with dry emotion expression and Rus' creepy presence would cause misunderstanding when they first met.
summer in vietnam is hella hot and winter in russia is hella cold, so they both love autumn (spring is still meh).
they're sucks at flirting, so they just "this feeling is hard to process, i like him/her and i'm gonna tell him/her now". they're too blunt.
they love each other like a peaceful old couple or else teenagers love at first sight with obsession (no in between).
they communicate in broken english with heavy accent.
they communicate in russian โ Viet is excellent in russian, while Rus has a hard time spelling vietnamese tones.
