There are a couple of very conspicuous issues on desktop:

1. Folks often use replies to respond to reblogs. With the old notes view, the default was to display replies and reblogs-with-comments together in a single chronological list. The new notes view splits them up into separate tabs, meaning there’s no way to tell where a particular reply falls with respect to the reblog chain – and hence, what it might be responding to – without a lot of tedious flipping back and forth. Basically, the update has broken one of the site’s fundamental modes of interaction.

2. The new notes view replaces the “tags” pane with the ability to show tags on the reblogs pane. However, the only available filters are “reblogs with comments or tags”, “reblogs with comments only”, or “reblogs with neither comments nor tags” – there’s no “reblogs with tags only”  filter, meaning if you want to get a picture of what’s going on in the tags in particular you’re out of luck.

To be clear, these are both functional regressions – they’re taking away stuff we were already able to do.
