The wax is back.
A continuation of my Unseen project; covering, deforming, hiding. Using the natural properties of wax to deform and transform unwanted and unloved figurines from charity shops into objects of curiosity and tangible uncanny desire.
Gotta draw 'em all!
Nice little article about my work and my Pokemandalas ^_^

Sea Glass, my project for our 2nd year mid year degree show.
We are very lucky to be able to display our works in metal storage containers, the type used on the supermassive container ships. These will be set up in the Guildhall Square in front of beautiful Southampton Guildhall. I wanted to show a site specific piece; something that took into account the history, location and industry of Southampton.
Nearby my house is a stretch of beach known locally as the “Titchfield Cliffs.” For various geographical and geological reasons, this beach is perfect for finding sea glass. Glass which, over decades, or possibly even centuries, has been turned, tossed and tumbled by the waves and tides of the Solent. What really got me excited and curious was the potential possibility that some of this glass could have been from shipping containers and other shipping vessels going in and out of Southampton and the surrounding areas over the years. Broken plates and drinking glasses, smashed medicine jars, cracked liquor bottles. All safer in the sea than on the deck of a ship or the floor of a dock, this glass has found its way into the ocean, and eventually back onto the beach.
An understated spectrum of history, forever lost stories, and tangible shards of time gone by.
