Oh. Yes. I have not been on a mission in months, but I understand that feeling. Perhaps a nice long rest is in order?
Thank you. It’s been troublesome, but much more bearable now that the memories have stopped returning.
It was more of an - extended mission with a multitude of sub-missions. Diplomatic procedures and reaching out in order to create good faith with the other governmental bodies that belong to the United Nations. We hope to have SHIELD outposts all over the world soon.
That is very reassuring to hear. My own flashbacks are becoming fewer and fewer the longer that I am away from the Grid, so I understand quite well.
Ah. And of course, diplomacy is never easy. International cooperation would be desirable for the parties involved, however.
I am relieved that the headaches have stopped. I wish I could remember, but perhaps it is for the best that I don't.

I am - quite tired. The missions that Director Romanova has had me on for the past two months have been rather tiresome. It is good to hear that you and Kiden are doing well, however.

Greetings, Laura. It has been quite some time since we last spoke. I trust that all has been well as of late?
Hello, Anon. I have been well. Kiden is walking now, and learning to talk.
How are you?
#She got Dad's eyes the lucky brat. #Emma Keller
Emma.... Keller?
Kiden, wh-
Being a mother is terrifying at best. Laura is still constantly worried that she isn't doing well. Not that she has much of a model to work from, though her mother tried her hardest. Most of the female influences in Laura's life weren't very positive, either.
For now, she'll settle for this rare peaceful moment while Kiden is napping and the house is quiet, curled on the couch in a pair of shorts and one of Julian's clean shirts.
I tell him the same thing all the time. *Laura’s smile softens watching Steve with her son. He’s such a good father -and father figure- and it shows through so much. Kiden coos happily, resting his hands on Steve’s face*
I’d hoped bringing him to see you would put a smile on your face.
Bet you do. <Moving to sit down in his recliner with the little tyke, Steve shifts Kiden in his arms a bit, making sure he’s secure in a strong, yet gentle grasp.> Good plan. Children seem to be my kryptonite. <He grins over at Laura at where she sits before looking back at Kiden.>
How’s my favorite feral been lately, besides having her hands full?
I'd noticed. "Captain Dad' would be a very fitting title for you. *Laura is teasing him of course, but she knows that he loves being around children, and family.*
*She sighs in response to his question.* I hardly believe that I'm your favourite feral, but I've been busy. Very, very busy, between work and child-rearing. The memories are... coming less and less now, which is helpful, as I'm less prone to dizzy spells and headaches. And Julian and I are... *She blushes slightly* Julian and I are together. He's so good with Kiden.
*Smiling at the bright smile Kiden gives Steve, Laura watches as the little boy runs in his awkward gait, stumbling a little just as he reaches Steve’s hands.*
Cap!
<Steve chuckles, damn near giggles as the toddler rumbles on over to him, but as the little guy utters his name, the big blonde super-soldier almost visibly melts. Oh, so Kiden can talk, too? And knows his name. He scoops the little guy up under the arms and hoists him into the air as he stands with him.> You’ve gotten so big already!
<Gently he brings Ki down to hold against his chest, arms wrapped around him. Lovingly, Steve bumps his forehead against Kiden’s, still grinning.> Just don’t grow up on me any faster, alright?
I tell him the same thing all the time. *Laura's smile softens watching Steve with her son. He's such a good father -and father figure- and it shows through so much. Kiden coos happily, resting his hands on Steve's face*

*She follows him inside, taking a seat away from the paperwork to avoid disturbing it any.* Thank you.
*Carefully, she sets Kiden on the floor. He wobbles a little, but gives a happy little shriek, patting his hands against the coffee table joyously* He’s just learned how to walk on his own.
<Steve shuts the door behind her gently and wanders after her, watching the little guy with the happiest of grins on his face.> Can’t believe how big he is already. And walking, at that. A fast learner, just like his mother. <A few feet away, he crouches down, holding hands out to the ecstatic toddler.> Come see Uncle Steve, big guy. I want to see how well you’re walking already.
*Smiling at the bright smile Kiden gives Steve, Laura watches as the little boy runs in his awkward gait, stumbling a little just as he reaches Steve's hands.>
Cap!
*Laura smiles sweetly, shifting Kiden again as the baby begins reaching for Steve* I’m sorry if I’m interrupting anything. I finally found the time to come and visit, so I figured I would use it while I had the chance. What a better time than the present, right?
<Steve’s grin widens at both Laura and baby Kiden, and he lifts a hand to gently brush across the top of the little guy’s head.> No, you’re no interruption at all. I was just doing paperwork, and lazily at that. We’re used to late-night visitors, I can promise you that.
Make yourself at home, dear.

He keeps saying no whenever I get close to him. Watch.
*takes a few steps closer, Kiden screams “no”*
See?
Did you try to make him eat icky vegetables?
…Ah. Man. I’m sounding like a three year old.
*watches him, highly amused*
*Waggles his eyebrows at her as Kiden wraps his little arms around his neck and he lifts him up into his arms.*
What’d mommy make you do? She take away your toys?
*Kiden mumbles something that sounds a little like 'bath', and she laughs*

Eh? Oh—-
Is he misbehaving again? I swear my genes have nothing to do with it >.>
*unconvinced, yet slightly amused* He will not even allow me to touch him. Clearly your genes are not the issue.
*Almost instinctively moves to cover his mouth with his hand to suppress a snicker, then realizes what he’s doing and stops himself mid-motion.*
And you figure he’s going to let me pick him up? Well…I can try at least.
*He leans down on one knee, opening his arms for the little guy to stumble into, grinning victoriously as he actually does so.*
Huh. Didn’t even have to break out the candy.
He keeps saying no whenever I get close to him. Watch.
