Am seeing so much “Humanity Fuck Yeah” discourse on Reddit and Twitter lately. I understand how the movement/subgenre formed as a response to pessimistic science fiction and in theory I get the appeal and respect the aim but in practice there is something silly about trying to highlight how great humans just by making up aliens who suck to make ourselves look better
Are people reinventing "humans are space orcs" again?
everytime i see underwater animals get called "alien-looking" im so confused. the octopus? the hadal snailfish? the blob sculpin? barreleye fish? theyre like my neighbors. i know these guys why are you slandering them
each time you say an animal looks creepy or horrifying i release an image of you onto the ocean tabloids so ocean tumblr can rip you to shreds
I hate this kind of sentiment. Aliens are cool as fuck. Creepy and horrific creatures are cool as fuck. I can see how the latter can be intended as a bad thing (by loosers), but obviously these animals will be compared to aliens, they evolved in a radically foreign environment like aliens would, they basically are aliens already!
Making the connection.
The idea of going vegan for your non-vegan pet is pretty funny
for over a decade now i've been reading snarky asides and lengthy effortposts alike about how the latest Fromsoft game du jour is ableist - not on a narrative level, but a game design one.
the most common argument put forth by these poasts is that the game only has one difficulty, Really Fucking Hard, which excludes those who physically can't keep up with the button presses the game demands. i really wish we covered topics like this in high school debate class because there are so many different angles to attack that argument from: listing the ways the games let you choose your own difficulty (co-op, spirit summons, magic builds, cheese strats), questioning whether the unspoken axiom of "everyone should be able to experience every video game ever made and if they can't then that means the developer is ableist" actually holds water, pointing out that putting the onus of modifying a game's difficulty squarely on developers is somewhat unreasonable and also less effective than just teaching disabled gamers how to use Cheat Engine to tailor difficulties to their taste regardless of developer cooperation, discussing how the difficulty of the game is part of the intended experience/metanarrative and compromising on that difficulty could cheapen the statement the developer is trying to make, etc. etc.
and then there is the second argument, thankfully less common these days, that Fromsoft games are ableist because they don't let you pause. which can be defused with a 1-2 punch of "why is that specifically ableist?" true comboing into "also you know you can literally pause in most Fromsoft games, right? including Elden Ring?"
Ok, but you have to admit having a super secret ultra hidden pause button to the point that players believe the game is actually unpausable is stupid, right? Like that is not an argument in favor of these games. This is cartoonishly bad game design kinda worse than not letting you pause at all just because it's near impossible to make this so badly. Mayhabs this shit design element is a bad thing. And yes making the pause button into an easter egg is abelist holy shit imagine if a game's colorblind option turned on if you went to "menu explanations" or some equivalent this is not normal.
Is hiding the pause button ableist?
Yes
No
Ngl 1/3 is a pretty good score considering the people that will see it mostly already agree with you/it. I'll take it

this might be swinging a bat at a hornets nest but
i can understand why ppl on the autism website like trains so much but its so annoying when ppl try to portray them as somehow "leftist". it seems like ppl forgot the history. forgot that in many places the rails were built by slave/prison labor. that the railroads used to be some of if not the biggest landowners in the US thru eminent domain, and that this was used to sell off indigenous land to settlers, and to divide and destroy black neighborhoods (this is why we have the phrase "wrong side of the tracks"). that railroads were a tool of colonization to more quickly move around labor and extract resources from the lands they occupied and whisk them away to the core of the empire.
yall cant let the narrative of "progress" poison u like that.
I'm always weirded out by those us centric takes. Public transport I'd say it's pretty "leftist" as it's a less individualistic, classist and more sustainable solution. In fact besides degrowth it's the best way to manage transportation in urban areas. Afaik trains in america suck so it likely isn't doing much for yall but I don't think their bloody history should outshine the good they do today, like with medicine.
oh you think feedism is bad for people to engage in because it presents a risk for their health? of course, sure, that seems like an easy position to defend. I gotta say though it must be tough to oppose extreme sports, alcohol, tobacco, driving a car, swimming, hormonal birth control, pregnancy, most over the counter painkillers and objects small enough to be accidentally swallowed. what? you don't? that's weird. seems like you might just hate fat people for some reason.
Nah, feedism is literally encouraging eating despite feelings of satiety. This is disordered eating. I will always be aganist disordered eating because I'm fat eating disorder survivor. It is actively hurting their mental health and I wouldn't be suprised if it's pushing them towards other eating disorders. It doesn't present a risk it actively harms you. Someone harming you mentally for their own sexual pleasure is not ok, it's abuse. This isn't even to mention that fat people have a default weight just like everyone else and forcefully being over it is not much healthier then forcefully being under it.
It's ok to eat junk food just like it's ok to drink alcohol, but I don't support normalizing eating disorders just like I wouldn't support normalizing alcoholism. If someone got sexual pleasure out of making someone dependent on alcohol I'd say they're an abuser.
Also driving a car/giving birth/taking hormonal birth control/painkillers are all necessary evil that you do because there is no better way to achieve whatever that you want to achieve. Alcohol and tabacco see above. Others I don't particularly care for.
Feederism is not fat acceptance! It's the abuse of fat people by those that fetishize us. We're worth so much more than being abused by fatphobes for their sexual pleasure...
Ok the euthanasia one is bad (because it needs to consensual otherwise it's just murder, you don't get to say who to euthanize) but I don't get what's wrong with aborting "disabled" fetuses tbh. It doesn't harm any disabled people, since fetuses aren't people, and it prevents your child from developing disabilities. It's like not drinking alcohol during a pregnancy, except one is an inaction and one is an action, but they're both done because you don't want your child to come out disabled (whenever that's a good thing or not)
Do you think there is, like, some pre-existing soul designated ahead of time in the beforelife to couple itself to the first (second, third, etc) infant body to emerge from a given gestating parent, whichever body that might turn out to be? That you are helping this preselected cartesian ego by choosing for it the most appropriate vessel? What a peculiar way to think of the world!
And can you just admit that what you are promoting is eugenics? Can we just omit the tiresome song and dance about how its not eugenics if its not from the eugene region of france?
I'm not sure if I'm entirely convinced of my argument myself, but you didn't say anything to challenge it tbh. Souls aren't real, but fetuses aren't people either. Every fetus could develop into a disabled person if you took certain actions during pregnancy. Every pregnant person is trying to prevent having their child be disabled. The real question is your responsibility towards the potential unborn people that could develop from a fetus. But I'd have to say it's none of it since preventing a disabled person from existence is comparably bad to preventing anyone else from existence.

Some of y'all take "do stuff, it'll improve your health" as ableist because you've been stuck in a pattern of self harming behaviours so long that you consider your mental illness to be what defines you completely, and you see anyone attempting to help you with mental illness as someone attacking you. It's not healthy, you need a change of mindset and attitude, smell some flowers, get some rest, bake a cake, get a hobby or brush your teeth. Just find anything that isn't unhealthy that you enjoy doing. It will help, I swear.
Idk how helpful pointing out a problem w/o offering solutions actually is (no "smell flowers" is not a solution since you acknowlage it does not help those this post is about, and I think "force yourself to do x" is similar)
This works well unless you're retarded and even finding the most accepting people you possibly can irl you still have to mask in front of them.
Different anon but simialrly weird question that I fully understand if you simply don’t want to answer
What is the positioning like during birrin mating? I’m just having trouble imagining the way the actual bodies would position
The male stabs a mating claw into the female under her wing.
Fyi that doesn't really answer the question. I assume this means male on top if the female from the back like most modern mammals
AI isn’t going to fuck you
you clearly havent been reading the same portal fanfics ive been reading
Is anon not trying to override politeness filters to have cybersex with language models already?
its really weird when people talk about how their good practice of bdsm/leather stuff is separate from ~the fucked up stuff~ like do you seriously think leather culture in general has nothing to do with fetishization of power and abuse
either have a critic of the socially specific manifestations of human sexuality as a whole or just stop bc trying distinguish ur good leatherfag/dyke/whatever shit from the fucked up fetishizations is just not going to work
like one of the most recognizable visual symbols of gay leather culture is literally based off nazi uniform hats. you tumblr queer theorists are so unserious
dom/sub is literally cnc (or at least dubcon) and anyone saying otherwise is coping
Idk how you're supposed to get an autism diagnosis as an adult w/o a humiliation fetish. All it does is gives you the ability to call yourself autistic w/o some looser jumping on your dick. Don't get me wrong I want it, but having a debate convincing a therapist who'll think I have munchausen that I'm autistic soundsvlike I'd rather kill myself
Help out a struggling intersex girl?
The NHS will prescribe utrogestan to perisex women for reasons caused by low progesterone such as fatique, night sweats, suicidal ideation increase, and more. Yet, when this comes to intersex women, they refuse to offer the same prescription on the NHS forcing the intersex woman to go private, even when it is medically necessary for the intersex woman. - it's a discriminatory practise.
So... help an intersex girl out so she CAN get necessary medication privately?
Support A Struggling Intersex Girl On Ko-fi. Ko-fi lets you support the people and causes you love with small donations
Hey guys, the NHS is continuing to not give her the medicine she needs to not be in constant pain. And generally toss her around between uncaring clinics that refuse to acknowledge her issues in the first place. She's literally diagnosed with an intersex condition? GPs refuse to acknowledge it because the place she got the diagnosis from 'wasn't directly NHS'. She tries to get her medicine from them? They send her to the gender clinics, who don't prescribe what she needs. I've been there for her GP visits, they will literally lie to your face about what they can and can't do, even when you have the laws right fucking there in front of them.
could we get some help? please? If you're tagged in this, i'm sorry for the annoyance, i'm grabbing at every popular blog or frequent mutual aid reblogger i can in hopes that some help will follow.
