I should clarify; I don’t want to revoke the right to vote. That is a slippery slope and what every fascist regime does.

What I want is for the goat cultist views to become shameful. That the cultists who won’t be able to get their heads out of their asses and make amends bury those heads in the sand instead. And they keep their mouths shut when elections roll around or we bring in the crabs.

I want to feel safe again. Right now my hypervigilance is 200 percent. I’m wondering when I’ll not be seen as a person at the wrong time. And I’m privileged; 600 people without that privilege are being disappeared every day. My rep’s office still can’t answer why she said in writing that the detention facility where our governor wanted to feed people to alligators met national prison standards. The staff go “Uhhh…” when I point out Fidel Castro, the fascist she hates, did the same thing in Cuba.

We once shamed Nazis, and we sure as hell judge the white-ass Karen moms who yelled at a little black girl trying to go to school. Indiana Jones features Nazis who lose to a guy with a whip and steals from them regularly. Nearly every Holocaust movie paints Nazis as bad. Every animated show covering segregation shows the parents enabling racism as awful.

Societal shame is not an ideal solution, but it’s an alternative to violence when you can’t talk the goat out of the cultist. So we know it’s possible.

I do think you lose your right to medical privacy when you decide to become a politician and it is mad fucked up that these people hold our lives in their hands and are allowed to disappear for months on end with no explanation. You need a doctor’s note to miss school for a cold but we have no clue if Mitch McConnell is dead or alive and Tom Kean was allowed to fuck off for 4 months without telling the public why. I don’t give a fuck about your privacy, you’re not protecting my privacy, if you’re leeching tax dollars and partying it up in a rich person rehab resort somewhere while your constituents vote against our access to healthcare, we should be allowed to know. Fuck you. I say this as a disabled person, I’m always having to explain the nature of my disability and the details of my health but we’re not allowed to know what the fuck is going on with these people.

i once had a coworker who was endlessly harassed for her bathroom breaks. She had celiac and ibs. She was told by her manager and HR that celiac "isnt a disability". We had a disability awareness month presentation a week later that listed celiac on the slideshow. She quit. We worked for the united states government btw.

Yeah. I have ulcerative colitis and it is so embarrassing to deal with in office settings. When you have to take a 15+ minute bathroom break on company time, everyone assumes you’re playing games on your phone at best or snorting coke off the toilet seat at worst. It does not occur to people that you can genuinely fight for your life on the toilet multiple times a day through no fault of your own. They bully you out of the workforce by shaming you for needing reasonable accommodations and then mock you for not working. Your boss takes note of how long it takes you to shit but senators and congressmen are allowed to disappear from their jobs for weeks or months.

*laughs in autism* I never had any problems in the workforce until I disclosed in the hopes of getting a minor accommodation (getting to use earmuffs during fire drills). I had ONE manager that tried to protect me because he had an autistic daughter and was (undisclosed) disabled himself. All the others told me in one way or another they didn't believe my diagnosis was real because I was too high functioning and that set the tone for our entire relationship. Some straight up gossiped about me. I had one tell me if I was really autistic I would never have been promoted.

There's the law and then there's reality. I will never disclose again in a workplace setting.

If you run for office, you should have no medical privacy for any condition that potentially impares your ability to show up do your job. Full stop, no notes.
