hi you seem to know what you’re doing so uhh I CHIPPED MH BASS CLARINET MOUTHPIECE IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN FIX IT (it’s a high school instrument so it’s very plastic)

that’s rough..! if that were to happen to me, i’d either have my band director look at it or take it into the shop, mostly bc im inexperienced with fixing instruments and would probably do more harm than good

ok sooo im still not doing marching band this year (too late to audition for it now) BUT i finally realized how lame my life is without music so at the last minute i decided to join the university band!! i was initially planning on taking a break from the clarinet but it honestly keeps me sane in this hellhole we call life!! :^)

As a clarinet player (or any woodwind, except for hecking flutes 😂) I go though a lot a reeds. Any suggestions on how to take care of reeds and what reeds to use?

vandoren reeds (specifically 3.5 strength) are my preference. “dud reeds” and worn-out reeds can be fixed by rubbing sandpaper against the back of the reeds for a better sound :^)

as i am moving into my first semester of college soon, im prob gonna take a break from music and band and stuff, at least for a little bit. definitely not giving up the clarinet for good, just need some time to focus on my major and stuff lol. until next time :P  ✌️

so i also play clarinet in my band and im a junior and for the past four years ive only ever really played bass clarinet for marching and concert band (until this year) and so i asked my director to try out on clarinet for concert and the list came out for band and chair placements and my name is under the bass clarinet list (while the other bass clarinet who didnt ask to play clarinet is first chair) and i really just dont know what to do

i would have a one-on-one with the band director tbh; perhaps you could work something out?

so recently i made it into my district’s 11th/12th grade honor band and we had our rehearsals/concert this past weekend and it was actually p chill?? like damn who knew that ppl from competing schools would get along so well.., that’s why i love band tbh

I wanna be drum major In my senior year but there’s a lot of people who want to be drum major, even some of my close friends. Plus I’m pretty new to this school (i transferred a year ago) so if I DO get it next year I’m afraid people won’t take me seriously. Any advice?

omg dont EVER be afraid to try for something like this!! if its really important to u, u shouldnt worry about what others think, and if they dont take u seriously, prove to them that they should take u seriously. be confident in what u do and try not to second-guess yourself!!!

i should probably update yall on this lmao

so basically the stylists on the show wouldn’t let me participate unless i got a FUCKING PERM (because, u know, the 80s) and if u know me irl then u know that my hair is already dry and frizzy and unhealthy asf. i tried to negotiate but they were stubborn as hell so i was forced to turn down the role. kinda glad i did decline tho cuz ive gotten more time to hang with my actual band fam and its been p chill tbh

but yeah i hope u guys aren’t too disappointed or anything. it was a super hard decision to make and it honestly wouldnt have been worth it in the end

Is it weird that I play sax for marching band and clarinet for concert? The only people who switch instruments are people who don't play marching instruments, and I feel weird being a squad leader when I don't even main sax

nahh m8 thats not weird at all!! in fact, i play tenor sax in jazz band even though i main clarinet in marching band and concert band. im not that great at the sax just yet, but its always fun to try out different instruments anyway :-))

uhh so i’m 1st trumpet this season but the thing is everyone else quit and now it’s just me and 3 freshmen on trumpet any tips on carrying an entire section

never ever be afraid to correct your peers, show that ur confident and that u know what ur doing, always have a good attitude, and be a good example during practice and outside of practice :^)
