Mei from Turning Red!
A metaphor to express my feelings on our current situation:
•The US is a person with a gunshot wound. The wound is bleeding profusely (the bullet is covid, the blood represents infected/dying people). There’s a lot of blood, the person is probably going to bleed to death at the current rate.
•The doctor has a tourniquet (the vaccine) and could stop the bleeding enough (70-90%, the vaccination rate for herd immunity) to get the patient into surgery and this could all be over. Sadly however, that tourniquet is being held hostage (by the people who are refusing the vaccine).
•Instead the doctor has to do something so she places a bandaid on the gunshot wound (requiring masks for vaccinated people). It seems like the best solution the doctor has, as the bandaid does stop some blood, and she’s really in a bind, but the patient is still bleeding out (covid rates are spiking, hospitals are at capacity again).
•Another factor worth considering is that the bandaid is a bit of a burden to the patient. At first it’s just itchy but then it becomes painful as it causes irritation to the wound. (for me personally that looks like needing masks inside again, but it also looks like limits on my experience in music school because you can’t play an instrument with a mask on, and the fear of it snowballing back to where we were last year, loosing things like in person school, my job, and social activities all over again.)
•Moral of the story- please get vaccinated and don’t take away the things that are important to all of us again. The doctor has to do something, just give him the dang tourniquet and let him stitch us up. It’s safe it’s free it’s convenient. I beg you.
Another band story I’ve probably told before but whatever:
One time at a wind ensemble competition our school was hosting and competing in this kid plugged in his phone while we were waiting for our call time and all the lights went off in the room we were in and turns out the entire school lost power including on stage during another bands performance but we found out later it was cuz the schools generator shut off but I wanna believe it def had something to do with This one kid plugging his phone in
I've been watching an anime called Sound! Euphonium, and WHOO boy it's making me relive my band kid days hardcore. Super good anime, gorgeous animation and awesome music. Reminded me that I'll always be a band nerd at heart ❤️ I pick up my sax every now and then, and really don't I think I'll ever be able to fully let it go. To this day, I still get chills and admittedly teary eyes sometimes when I hear good ensembles.❤️ were any of you guys band kids in highschool or college?? . . . #art#doodle#sketch#selfportrait#saxophone#altosaxophone#bandnerd#bandgeek#saxophonist#band#bandkid https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ssED1gMWs/?igshid=7ggjwo81am9z

Hey guys I’m now taking applications to join my folk punk band circumference of coochie.

Doctor Who s11 Trailer 2: Only it's Santa Clara Vanguard #InappropriateSoundtracks.
This is like the first version I posted earlier, only with the dialogue back in. It’s still fucking rough, but I fail at removing music from dialogue. I did mah bests.
