I'm lusting for an iPhone 4.0 (or an iPhone 5.0 in June) or whatever iPad 2.0 is going to be. I also need to lose 30 pounds. (I already lost 19 of the 30 pounds needed - as of December 24, 2010) So what better motivation to lose 30 pounds than to "gift" myself an iPad 2.0 or iPhone 4.0 when I achieve this goal. My project began June 4, 2010. I weighed in at 246 pounds (I was 256 pounds in December 28, 2009) and i wasn't feeling healthy. My NEW goal (for 2011) is to achieve the weight loss of 20 pounds by June 1, 2011. So far I have lost 19 pounds (as of December 24, 2010). Another 20 pounds to go with a 6 month deadline. I can do this! Best of luck to me!
I got to 220 lbs a week before my wedding day but the 1st ear of married life wrecked my diet and workout routine. I shot back up to 246 lbs in Feb of this year then on my birthday, I decided to do Insanity. I finished 1 and 1/2 rounds of Insanity and I'm currently doing Focus T25. Current weight is at 230.7 lbs. Compared to before, I prefer my body now cuz the muscles I had in college are back.
I went to the Doctor last Wednesday. She commented on how much weight I lost. The last time I was at her office I weighed in at 238 pounds (with jeans and shirt). Last Wednesday, I was at 225 pounds (with jeans and shirt).
Hopefully, the blood test would show more good news.
Anyway, here's what I've done this past week.
Monday Lunch Walk 03-14-2011
Tuesday Lunch Walk 03-15-2011
App fail... GPS did not record. But I walked for 1 hour at 3.5 mph pace.
Thursday Lunch walk 03-17-2011
No walking for me today... rain and a TORNADO WARNING... yeah, that's right.. a tornado warning in San Francisco Bay Area.
I have to admit.. I've been very liberal with my eating this week. Something for sure, I have to remedy in the next few days.
In four days I'll hit a milestone... Good Luck to me.
Unless you live under a rock, everyone knows that today is the US release date of the iPad 2.
In just over 2 hours, people who lined up as early at yesterday would get their hands on the iPad 2. I, among others, decided to order online and get their new gadget in 2-3 weeks.
My time is just more valuable than the iPad 2.
Btw, the scale today weighed in at 220.3 pounds.
In other news, I know worry whether or not i'll get the iPad 2 or losing weight seemed like moot points compared to the victims of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan last night. The interwebs are buzzing about the Red Cross relief efforts and how to donate and I just want to give a shout out to everyone who are praying for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. Donate what you can and keep the victims in your prayers.
Weigh In 2011: Week 9 - Back On The Saddle Just In Time For iPad 2 Week
I got a new scale over the weekend.
This scale is a bit fancier which measures body fat %, BMI, Bone Density and Water %.
This week, I weighed in at 222 pounds.
22 pounds to go.
I still have to redouble my efforts and make healthier food choices.
June 1, 2011 is rough 2 and a half months away.. 10 weeks.. I think 2.2 pounds a week to lose is not too bad.. but it would be a challenge.
Here's what I did recently:
Tuesday March 8 walk
Monday March 7 Walk
Thursday March 3 lunch walk
Tuesday March 1 Lunch walk
Monday Feb 28 lunch walk
Although I admit I have been relaxed with my eating and working out.. which explains the minimal weight loss of late.. i still believe I am a whole lot better than I was a year ago. For that, I am proud of myself. Perhaps I can gift myself an iPad 2 tomorrow? lol
On Wednesday, Steve Jobs unveiled the latest iPad. The iPad 2 would be faster, lighter and more useful and will be available on March 11, 2011.
That is a week from today.
Fortunately, good old Uncle Sam just gave me my tax refund (This I need to fix for next year) so I have the funds to purchase the iPad 2. So, assuming I could get my greasy hands on one, the original iPad shall be passed on to the fiancée.
I know I am still way off my goal and the broken scale is not really helping.
As a result, I will limit myself to 4 major gadget purchases this year:
1. iPad 2
2. iPhone 5
3. PogoPlug and a 1 or 2 TB external HD.
4. A new Camera - either the Casio Tryx or a Nikon d90 (still deciding)
This would be my checklist for the year and when I achieve my goal in June, I can indulge myself with a bonus purchase.
I've been meaning to put a Before And After post ever since I started losing weight. But being a shy introvert, I had a very small collection of photos that included me. I guess maybe because I got depressed every time I see a "fat" picture of me. I know compared to most people, my photos do not look fat but as you can see from the first photo, I was at my heaviest (256 pounds).
So I finally got the time and the guts to post my own pictures. So here you go:
This is me in December 2009.. my wake up call... I was struggling to look slim for the camera by posing sideways (pathetic I know). I think I weighed in at 256 pounds as of this photo.
This is me one sunny day in San Francisco exactly a year ago (Feb 28, 2010). By this time, I already lost 10 pounds from December. Not much difference from the face.
This is me on my birthday last year (March 2010). As you can see, my arms and my torso were very stocky/chubby. My shirt also failed to hide my belly. So depressing to have a beer belly when I don't even drink beer.
This is me in May 2010. A month before I started this blog. I think I'm around 246 pounds here. Check out my chubby face...
This is me at Google. This is around October 2010. I am around 224 pounds. My XL hoodie looked really loose by this time and my jeans (Size 36 Old Navy) was loose and turning baggy.
This is me in November. I just became a US Citizen and I weighed in at 223.50 pounds. Face a bit smaller and i felt great!
This is the most recent photo I got of myself. I'm 225.5 pounds around this time. Slight weight gain but the physical changes were more pronounced. My face got skinnier compared to the May 2010 photo. I also wore an extra shirt underneath the hoodie. My jeans (Size 35 Uniqlo) is a bit loose.
I still have a way to go... around 22-23 pounds more and hopefully I'll get there by June 2011. That would be a lose of 46 pounds in 1 year. Not bad right.
P.S: If Apple announces the iPad 2 on Wednesday, I would have a bigger incentive to lose the 22-23 pounds. :P
These past 2 weeks, I weighed in at 223.00 pounds.
Not much working out happened this past two weeks. The rains and a busy work schedule got in the way so i totally relied on my diet to lose some weight. I'm glad it worked somehow.
However, I know I still need to step up my workouts and diet to achieve my goals.
BTW, the iPad 2 is rumored to be announced next week... I'll watch for it and it could be another incentive to lose at least 10 more pounds.
I have been busy at work these past few weeks. So busy, I only got two walking sessions as seen below.
Monday Run
Tuesday Lunch Walk
In spite of the chaos last week, at one point, I weighed at 222 pounds (the lowest I've been in recent history) and I have been doing well with my mindful eating and workouts.
However, this past weekend was the big Valentine's day weekend. Long story short, I ate out a lot with my fiancée. Tomorrow, I find out if I gained back some weight.
I agree... 0 sugar and 0 calories does not necessary mean healthy.. :P

Avoid aspartame. Period. This study is annoying because people are not mentioning the chemicals in the can. Let’s move on now.
If you are reading my blog anyway, you already knew diet soda was bad news but as Dr Sniederman said on the Today Show this morning, it can be consumed in a healthful diet but should be taken as a treat. I agree, and do have one on occasion but it’s just that, a treat I have on occasion.
