FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
325 Project Space Presents By Land By Sea By Air July 12 – July 27, 2025 | Opening Reception: Saturday, July 12, 3–6 PM 325 St. Nicholas Avenue, Ridgewood, Queens, NY Gallery Hours: Saturdays & Sundays, 12–5 PM
325 Project Space is pleased to present By Land By Sea By Air, a 3 person exhibition featuring work by Doreen McCarthy, Guy Nelson, and Rand Hardy. On view from July 12 through July 27, 2025, the exhibition opens with a public reception on Saturday, July 12 from 3 to 6 PM.
Through sculpture, painting, and constructed forms, By Land By See By Air brings together three artists whose practices investigate space, perception, and material transformation. The title frames the show around elemental modes of movement—land, sea, and air—as metaphors for abstraction and as frameworks for navigating the physical and psychological environments we inhabit.
Doreen McCarthy creates buoyant, inflated sculptures that are constructed from durable and meticulously crafted materials. Her work makes space visible, inviting viewers into a perceptual tension between solidity and impermanence.
Guy Nelson’s paintings evoke both natural and imagined terrains, where layers of color and gesture blur the lines between cartography, landscape, and abstraction. His surfaces suggest an evolving geography shaped as much by emotion and memory as by topography.
Rand Hardy explores the interplay of structure and surface through familiar and abstract forms. Using additive and subtractive processes, his compositions reference both architectural systems and organic erosion—suggesting transformation within built and natural environments.
Together, the artists employ abstraction not as removal, but as an active method of engaging material, gesture, and process. By Land By Sea By Air offers a nuanced meditation on movement, transformation, and the frameworks through which we understand our surroundings.
