Fibre3D - Beach Photoshoot
making of the z axis and extruder head
Final Product Renders
These are a set of renders showing the development of our model. Its component as been carefully designed for a specific purpose within the fiber 3D printer
Fibre - Final Studio Shoot.
Presentation A5
Programming
Been studying and wiring using this diagram with our drivers and stepper motors. Managed to wire the motors correctly to the stepper drivers using this diagram http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/2132.
The stl created using the scanner can be sent to Replicator G which creates a g code which is sent to the Ramp1.4 with Marlin frimware installed.
At the moment I have been having problems getting Rep G to connect to the board and get movement in the motors, have tried simplifying the circuit but drivers heat up quick without heat sync and correct amps. Need to continue to see if i can get Rep G to send the code correctly.

Cad renderings of the 3D scanning frame and the scanner dolly that allows for a consistent scan.
Final nozzle z axis and extruder design
quick renders of revised z-axis and extruder head movements. By positioning the nozzle off to the side, this makes the printer less top heavy and more manageable
First modelled iteration of z-axis and nozzle extrusion design. However this design is too long and will make the entire printer too big, heavy and unstable.
The previous tests confirm we cannot use a plastic tube as seen here to carry the resin to the extrusion point as it is too thick. This means we have to design the nossle to incorperate a syringe at the point of extrusion.
some sketches showing possible ways of design
Two tests have been done with ratios: 20mls suncure resin to 5mls fibreglass resin And 20mls suncure resin to 1ml fibreglass resin. However both tests made the resin too liquified, and would not build on top. This image shows the test compared to suncure, proving suncure Is the perfect consistency
Material tests continued:
After testing the resin using a syringe and long tube, we have found it is too thick and the pressure to push the syringe down/ torque of the motor will be too much. This test is to see if we are able to thin the resin to a more liquid form, resulting in it going through the tube more easily
