Walking in front of the Magic on Flickr.
Where it all begin is where my 365 shall end as the beast takes a stroll around the Central Plaza in front of Cinderella's Castle. Megan has unsurprisingly been one of the stars of my 365, and you can see from the first picture on day 18 how much she's grown. This very area appeared in my 365 too, back in June - albeit as a lat/long on my Fathers Day present. It seems fitting to sign off here really - I've had fun, I've not cheated, I've not missed a day. I hope you've all enjoyed the pictures - I've had immense fun taking and processing them (most of the time). Just because the 365 is done doesn't mean I'm stopping, just perhaps not every day!!
The Forbidding Tower on Flickr.
364/365. Climb. Drop. Climb. Drop. Drop some more. Somebody really needs to fix that elevator shaft. The Hollywood Tower Hotel in Disney's Hollywood Studios is a large eery structure complete with mad lift drops, a thrill ride for some - but not my idea of fun.
Pile 'em high on Flickr.
363/365. These are only small, but you wouldn't want to argue with them anyway. In Gatorland, this pen was literally crawling with alligators, sometimes two or three deep as they clambered over each other trying to get to the sun. It's been "cold" in Florida for the last few days, so the cold-blooded gators are all in warming mode at the moment now the sun is back at strength.
Anandapur twinkling on Flickr.
362/365. It's 20:15 and the far end of the Animal Kingdom is already quiet. I am the last person walking back from Expedition Everest through the village of Anandapur, and being followed by some Disney cast members who are making sure I am heading to the exit. A good chance to get some rare night shots of the Animal Kingdom park, which is both atmospheric and spooky at the same time - very weird to see the place with absolutely no people in, during the day this is bustling with people heading for the roller coaster at Everest.
Festival Performer on Flickr.
361/365. There are two "stage" shows at Animal Kingdom, and for a variety of Disney-led misdemeanours we were granted a VIP entry into the Festival of the Lion King. A 30 minute show with singing, dancing and a whole raft of performers who move around the stage in the centre of the theatre. Megan was enthralled almost throughout, despite the loudness in parts and was often clapping and bopping to the sounds and staring in awe. We will probably take her back again before the end of the holiday! No flash permitted during the performance, thank God for the high ISO performance of the Nikon - this was at an ISO of 3200, 1/80th at f/2.8.
Stitch guards the toys on Flickr.
360/365. He may not be everyone's favourite alien within the Disney Parks, but I like him - and on warm days he spits water from his perch high above the World of Disney store and splashes unsuspecting passers by. The World of Disney is the biggest Disney merchandise store you'll ever see, a nightmare to get around it's so full. We didn't venture in today, just strolled around the Downtown area with Megan looking on in bemused wonderment at this strange new place.
Airborne on Flickr.
359/365. 38,000ft and about 400m off the eastern seaboard of the United States of America, Washington DC is off to our right but invisible over the horizon as we fly on the upper deck of Pretty Woman. A 9:10 flight to Orlando and all went relatively well, with no meltdowns from the little one. The sunshine state beckons, and a rare on-time arrival too.
Click to check in on Flickr.
358/365. Well, we've successfully negotiated the first part of the journey and made it to Gatwick. With Linda and Megan asleep in the hotel I went to try to find someone to right the wrong of the online check-in debacle (Linda upstairs, Megan and I downstairs on a 747) - but all I could find were these droids. And these were not the droids I was looking for, so I wandered off and took more pictures around the terminal.
Power to the people on Flickr.
357/365. Criss-crossing the final approach track and heading off to Olney this power line is one of the waypoints used by us in the tower to figure out where people are. Dark January skies once more provide a stark background to the pylons as they stretch off behind and ahead of me. The crackle of the elctricity could almost be heard as it passed through.
Friends revisited on Flickr.
356/365. Amy's Kitchen returns to Cranfield. This Falcon 2000 made a first appearance in my 365 way back on day 8, and it seemed a good chance to see how my photography has moved on in almost 12 months. The answer is a fair amount, although the weather at Cranfield doesn't seem to have changed too much ironically. Better lenses have made a big difference, and regular practice have led to me being much more comfortable with the camera and getting a shot. I've learned a fair bit about editing too!
Get that monkey off my back! on Flickr.
355/365. Having mentally said to myself no more pictures of Megan in the 365, here she is again - this one was just too good to miss really. For Christmas we brought Megan a set of "reins", so we could control her (yeah right). To soften the blow of wearing a lead they had a cute little monkey on them. Doesn't matter, little missy wasn't too happy at the prospect of wearing them this evening even for a trial run - a distinctly perplexed look from her! We'll try again another day, they'll be in the case to the USA anyhow...
Jungle flowers on Flickr.
Nope, not been anywhere exotic. While waiting for Linda to finish in a shop in Milton Keynes this yellow flower caught my attention in the central flower beds. It might look like a jungle shot, but is in fact a busy sopping centre. How odd.
Christmas Excesses on Flickr.
Do you think we drank too much over Christmas? I've been collecting bottletops for a while, a standby picture subject for one of those days when nothing else seemed appropriate. Today was one of those days, but it would appear a random interloper has found its way into my drink of choice...
