On an island in the sun ☀️ When we hit a roadblock in our lives, whether it be from stress, sickness, relationships, friendships or family issues it's really important to step away for a moment or so to breathe, recalibrate your mind and soul before walking back into that dynamic again. If someone or something in your life makes you frown more than smile, or anxious more than excited, or fixed rather than free than maybe it isn't the right match. It doesn't mean that they're a bad person or thing but perhaps they're not healthy for the growth of your own person. At the end of the day you have to live with you every single day of your life, so try to make your inner child shine as much as possible. Do you, and if someone or something fits into that then awesome. If not, know that you didn't fail, you grew. (at North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii)

Day #01 of this years #365daysofwandering As we all sit and watch another year pass us by, it is important to do so with ambition yet no expectation. For expectation of ones self or another does not bring forth anything of moral value. Expectation is essentially the ego taking control of your thoughts. To let go of expectation is choosing to move past your own ego ( I know everyone cringes at the word, dont fear as we all have it) and moving into a heightened state of being. An expectation is a desire for a state whether it be physical or emotional that is not present in your current life, and thus it is a recipe for self loathing further down the year. So rather than making an ilicid list of things you will probably beat yourself up over, do it with the intention of a goal rather than a promise. Try your hardest always. Still have ambition, still reach for the stars, just try not to feel as though you are not enough as you are. In this new year I dare anyone who does not have a resolution, to adopt the notion of telling yourself every morning "I am enough and I am loved". Back on track .... It's been about seven months now where I suppose life "slowed me down". Sometimes in life you need to take a break, a long one at that to realise what direction is right for you. After a series of chronic health issues this year and being drowned out in post-grad studying I finally learned what it means to be 'stuck' or to lose contentment and joy in the life that was once so easily taken for granted. As most of you know, I've spent the better part of my life travelling, writing and taking pictures of cultures- it was what made me who I am. What I've come to realise though is that we are never what we do. Those things that we enjoy doing or places we love visiting just add to the foundational essence of self. Your 'self' however, needs to be truly found before you can freely, humbly and gratefully experience the big wide world. As hard as it has been to accept being in one place, I feel as though I've learned what was needed by doing so, and I'm excited to be back to planning the future ahead, a future where my new, known self can enjoy the freedom and luxury of travel without the mindset of expectation. 😇😇 thank you to my partner and close friends for sticking by me through the hard times, and thank you to brooke for giving me my love for travel back, oh and for introducing me to @koko_lashesnbrows ! Lost & found Sometimes in life we are presented with individuals whom within them hold both questions and answers. It is within these individuals that we are able to delve into the mystery of self and potentially uncover a side of us that may not have necessarily been lost or stolen, but buried within our hearts over time. These people are the transformers of the soul, the crux of the transitional change in self to become not what we want to be, but see and feel who we already are. They are able to dust away debris, rip through old wounds and enable us to heal rather than hide dormant in fear and waiting. These people are to be cherished on every level. They are a rare find and worth more than anything money could ever attain. Not only do they uncover the once lost “self” within us, it is more so their ability to ignite a deep, undeniably profound connection that will continue to flourish in time. The beauty in this experience is realizing that these people are magnetized to those who do the same in return and thus this transitional state becomes a somewhat mutual growth of connections in self and in one another’s souls. Drawn together in ways the universe cannot predict, nor explain. A dance of love on a soul level can be found here. It is within this sacred space where the souls counterpart in another is found. It is then, that we discover what it really feels like to be home. It is then, that we accept our turning tides of our past and even destructive heartbreak endured from loss or abandonment. It is then, that the walls in which we have sculpted around our hearts can wash away and uncover our inner child’s purity and ability to love openly and fearlessly, ready to receive and accept what we both have deserved after all this time.
